Krooked House

Enjoy the Krooked house for a fun and relaxing trip. It is located in the town of Boyce, VA central to vineyards and dining. Enjoy the house all to yourself. We do require a minimum of two days for the weekends. The visit is for up to 6 people We do allow 2 additional guests for a max of 8 for $65 a person per night. Please read everything before booking.

We are central to vineyards and great dining. Many wineries to choose from as well as some breweries. Short drive to Apple Blossom Mall or Old Town Winchester walking mall for shopping and dining. Less than 30 minute drive to Middleburg for fabulous restaurants and stores. State Arboretum of Virginia right down the road for sightseeing and trails as well as less than 30 minute drive to Skyline Drive for hiking and beautiful scenery. Hollywood Casino and Charlestown racetrack about 30 minutes away. Visit the Locke store a few miles away in Millwood for wine, food and other snacks. Handy Mart, Sheetz, McDonald’s and a local farmer’s market for all your last minute needs and all within walking distance or a super quick

•Dog friendly with pet fee
Please do remember that this is not a brand new home so there is normal wear and tear.
•House is near the highway and some traffic noise should be expected.

Cozy get away with family togetherness in mind.

We enjoyed our stay. The king size beds were very comfortable. Hot tub, massage chairs, arcade games and sauna a nice touch. Lots of family game time with ping pong, checkers table, dining room game tables.

great spot for a getaway

Charming old house with lots of interesting amenities. My son loved the massage chair and the arcade room. The hot tub and sauna were great additions and helped us relax. We found the master bedroom mattress to be very creaky but comfortable. The arcade games take quarters, but the host did leave a bowl of quarters to play with, though we wish they could find away to keep it open so we could play unlimited. The location is right off the highway, so can hear traffic. But it was convenient for our trips to the Arboretum and Skyline carverns/drive Went into Winchester for some shopping and dinner as well.

Expected Better

Based on reviews, cost and description expected better. Older, darkish, fairly run down house used as vrbo. Near self storage units and main road with lots of road noise. Cleanliness OK but not great. Wiped down kitchen and bathroom surfaces, bathtub on arrival; some cobwebs and dust. Three bedrooms, all upstairs, share house's lone, non-modern, full bath. One tiny half bath downstairs. Host was helpful and responsive. House functional and served basic purpose of weekend accommodation, but again, expected better and will stay elsewhere next time.

Great Home Base For Shenandoah

This house has character! Arcade games? Check. Massage chair? Check. Poker/game room? Check. Sauna? Chickadee check! There was even a basketball court and a mini put put green. If you’re into nature the amazing assortment of plant life and their visitors (hummingbirds and the whatnot) will keep you gazing and cataloguing your day away. The property manager (Heather) was prompt with responses, super friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Cute place to stay

The house was clean although you could tell it had been closed up for awhile. It was a neat old place that was fun to explore. Lots to do while there. The message chair was fantastic! We had a little bit of a problem finding the place as Google maps did not bring us directly there. The upstairs bathroom was a bit tricky as you had to walk through a bedroom to get to it.

Wedding weekend

Location was great for a wedding celebration at the Long Branch, with family in Millwood, and proximity to Winchester for things to do :) We were comfortable & all our needs were met.

When first walking in it was a joy to discover all the rooms. Great for Entertaining a small group. I feel the addition of wifi would be a great added value and the only drawback from the experience was the very low ceiling for the shower. But our group only stayed 2 days so it was not an issue.

Little getaway from DC

My partner and I loved this home- it was a perfect little get away from DC. We really enjoyed the basketball hoop, putting green and ping pong. Unfortunately, some of the indoor electric games were out of order, but there was still plenty to do!

Fun place & good location

A fun place for a weekend getaway at a good price. An interesting house with lots of games and activities. While it’s tucked into a unique spot, it’s not a far drive from hiking, vineyards, and several towns. Would certainly stay again.

Spa & Game Weekend

We always rate based on our expectation. So, 5-stars means we got what we booked and more. (Not that Conrad Hilton loaned us his personal limo to drive thru McDonalds.) Krooked House was certainly that - quaint old charming house with beautiful but creeking floors and labyrinth floorpan that gave us vertigo until we learned to navigate it. We came to relax and decompress. The hot tub, sauna and the wonderfully cozy King bed made it all happen. We enjoyed the board games, card table and classic video game. The kitchen had everything we need to make a great dinner and full breakfast with the food we brought. In the evening, my wife beat me at poker, beat me at Yahtzee, beat me at backgammon and then had herself a good sweat in the sauna. In the morning, I had my coffee in the hot tub as the sun rose and the snow fell followed by a 30-minute session in the full-body massage chair. We can argue over who was the winner there. Thank you, Heather, for being a wonderful host!

Krooked Kristmas 21

Our first time renting with Vrbo and this property. Very fun and well furnished house, we stayed over Christmas and there was a lovely decorated real tree waiting for us. We had a perfectly pleasant time watching holiday movies on the sprawling couch on the big screen, cooking holiday dinner(full kitchen!), enjoying the hot tub, making a fire and playing games ( battleship and Ms PAC man ) . Very nice massage chair and bathtub with jets for relaxing and unwinding on a getaway, especially as one of us has a physical handicap . So grateful we could bring our dog too, it makes all the difference to bring our boy on our family vacations.

Lovely house with great hiking nearby

My family and I stayed here over Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful stay in a very quirky and comfortable house. It's very easy to get to hiking trails in the Shenandoah National Park, George Washington Forest, and a few other nice hikes within a 15 minute drive. Highlights definitely included a hot tub and massage chair after the hikes.

Weekend getaway

The property was great for some time with friends by the firepit or jacuzzi and still convenient to get out to the sites around the area. Would go back and bring even more quarters for the arcade game and pinball.

Krooked House

This was a perfect place for me and three friends to crash at after rafting. Some of the reviews dinged the house for being a little run down but that’s more because of how old the house is. Fixing the dishwasher is a good idea. It is remote and it is close to a highway but the massage chair and standup video games make up for it. Overall we would come back as it was a fun place to stay

Great Space for a Group

We had a great time and especially enjoyed the outdoor areas. The house was a great space to bring a group together. We cooked an amazing dinner on the grill, played ping pong, and sat in the beautiful outdoor area. The host was really helpful when we locked ourselves out. Great communications.

An Adult Paradise

This is one of the best VRBOs we have ever stayed in, and we use VRBO a lot. We definitely plan to return. Directions were clear, check-in and check-out was a breeze, the place was very clean and the house and property are absolutely amazing: basketball court, ping pong table, outdoor seating, grill, hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower, massage chair, board games, poker tables, bumper pool, arcade games, lots of great sitting areas.... this place has it ALL. There are giant flatscreens as well if you have a DVD player or a hotspot (no cable or wifi - with so much to do, who needs it!) What I really loved were the little touches, like leaving a bowl of quarters for the arcade games, coffee pods, and wine and alcohol available for purchase using an honor system. One thing to note is that even though the property is surrounded in trees, on the other side of those trees on one side is a pretty busy road. You will want to keep close eye on dogs and/or kids. They supply coffee and there are some basic spices if you forgot them, but be sure to bring your own olive oil/spray for cooking and your own paper towels - none were provided. Kitchen is fully stocked as far as dishes, pans, knives, etc. Also, this is right across the street from a gas station, dunkin, and subway if you forgot anything. The icing on the cake was that it was a perfect place to watch the Brood X cicadas emerge. It was really amazing. Can't recommend this place enough - what a gem!

Worth the daily fee

Overall the house was excellent. Hot tub at times would not warm up to the temperature that it said it was at. The outside lights would not turn on at all. Past 9PM you could barely see, if the storage faculty lights were not so bright, you would barely see where the walk-way was at. Other than that, the house was clean and we saw no issue other than a squeaky floor. As a contractor who does home remodeling and painting; you would not see most damages as I did. But other than that the house was well clean and suitable for a family who wants to stay at the house.

Cute

Cute, country-kitchen feel, but with extra amenities. DW was not accessible, but otherwise a fully stocked kitchen. The kids had a great time, with plenty to do inside and out.
