Escape to the Cottage at Hawkins Lake, perched lakefront with the utmost privacy. Fish, swim or canoe from your private dock. Sip your coffee on the dock in the morning and make memories around the fire at night. Enjoy a game of bocce ball or ladder ball while eagles soar overhead. Play in the games room or soak in the clawfoot bathtub overlooking the lake. In winter, cross-country ski, snowshoe or snowmobile on nearby trails, then cozy up in front of the woodstove. This is a truly magical place.

Great retreat

This is a well serviced remote location. If you want privacy, great swimming, hiking, biking, comfortable home, this is it. So quite and peaceful. fully recommend this place to get away from it all.

Amazing location on lake and very private. Owners are always available for any help or questions. Beautiful lake location and view and spacious interiors suitable for large family.

Perfect lake retreat

We loved every moment of this property. The owners were attentive, helpful, professional and great to deal with. The house and lake are even more beautiful than the photos. Couldn’t have asked for a better lake getaway. I can see myself returning to this property again for sure!

Idyllic remote location

The house is spacious and well-equipped. The lake is beautiful. We enjoyed the kayaks. There's no cell service for quite some distance from the location.

Getaway!

Amazing! Great accommodations with beautiful views of the lake. The 5 bedroom house was very well equipped kitchen! Bedding, towels all supplied. Lake Hawkins is very quiet. Our family enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, spending quiet time on the deck reading. Lots of memories were made with our 2 daughters and their families!

Location was excellent! New addition to deck and ladder were great. Cottage & decks were not very clean! Tea towels were all stained and should be replaced, stove top not clean. Upstairs tub was very slippery (our 56 lb. 8 yr old granddaughter slipped and put her elbow thru one edge of the tub); the ensuite shower was slippery as well! There should have been tub mats! Future guests be sure to check the availability of damage insurance…it wasn't evident to us and we ended paying for an entire new tub & surround!! Extra insurance wasn’t expensive which we found out after the fact!

Great overall but elements were overbearing

Property is beautiful, as is the lake. Overall we had a lovely stay. Would recommend this property to other family groups. My only issue is the with the long list of possible owner grievances and rules. The posted reminders of what needs to be done in placards throughout the house. Seems overbearing. Likely someone has not treated the beautiful house with the respect it deserves yet it creates an element of stress to anyone staying at the property. Despite this I would still recommend this VRBO based on the location and the accommodations. We did have a power outage during our stay but the owners took immediate action and it was restored promptly.

The perfect place for a relaxing family vacation

We spent 7 blissful lazy summer days here. The dock was the favorite place for relaxing on towels, reading and napping. Lots of time was spent swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. The house has everything you need - well stocked kitchen, cozy living room, lots of outdoor sitting areas, beautiful bedrooms and very comfortable beds. The house has lots of light and big windows and spectacular views of the lake, and the animal life is abundant and active. It's very remote - you have a very private feeling here. There is an amazing movie/games room downstairs, but we never even used it as all time was spent outside. The owner was very quick to respond to questions or concerns. Everything was in working order, WiFI as well. A large freezer and fridge made it easy to bring food and drinks for a full week. We could not have wanted for more, it was a wonderful place for a real super, natural BC experience.

Family getaway

August 26-September 2 My sisters family and my family try and get away together for a week every summer. This year it was Hawkins Lake. For our group of 9 the house had more than enough room. We enjoyed the lake and private setting. Kids had a blast kayaking and paddle boarding/swimming in the lake. Canim lake near by offers a small beach area with a few sites and great swimming as well. It was a good family vacation. Like everything the house has a couple quirks, but that said I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the city for a slower pace vacation.

Exelent home away from home. Very peaceful. Nice swimming lake with all the toys for water fun.

We had a great week with the 6 of us. Enjoyed the lake and surrounding area to explore. . Lots of wild life to view. Very peaceful quite place. Spacious home , could sleep 10 comfortably, even more if shared room with kids. If your looking for a get away from it all type of place, this is it.

Peaceful

Beautiful location, beautiful home. Peaceful! This place has everything a family needs for a getaway from the everyday. The owners have done an excellent job of creating this experience and made us feel welcome. It really felt like we had the lake to ourselves.

Great weekend!!

Had a girls get away weekend and the property exceeded our expectations! Beautiful property and house! Very well set up and clean and loved being able to use the kayaks and paddleboard to go out on the lake. Thanks for everything!!!!

Excellent rental for a family birthday celebration

Beautiful location, excellent communication with the owners, spacious and spotlessly clean cabin. Fully stocked with everything you could think of, including kayaks, SUP, outdoor games, and a fire pit.

Reunion at Hawkins Lake

There are many cabins on this lake…but the way this one is situated it felt like we were the only cabin. To call this home a cabin is an injustice. It is spectacular with all the amenities we needed. Absolutely a gem.

Wonderful week

Martina and Derek were wonderful hosts! The Cottage at Hawkins Lake is a beautiful, private property with breathtaking views. We had a party of 9 ranging in age from 11 to 81. With access to a private dock and loads of water toys, lawn games, foosball, air hockey ... there was something for everyone! The cottage itself is impressive with lots of space and great creature comforts. Couldn't have asked for better accommodation!

Attention to detail

We were a group of 9 staying 5 nights. Three moms and 6 kids ranging from 12-16. We were all amazed at the size of the home, and the space we had to roam around or be quiet on our own. The air hockey table was a hit for all ages. The soaker tub in the master was enjoyed by many:) The hot tub was not in service when we stayed, but that was well communicated before hand. We had a great time with the many kayaks and outside toys, all in excellent condition. Martina and Derek went the extra mile adding the small things that one might forget at home. The kitchen was fully stocked including the much needed Tupperware for those leftovers! We had plenty of blankets, linen, towels, soaps and shampoos. The younger teens loved the bonus bedroom off of the upstairs bathroom for sleeping and hanging out. I wish I had brought my bike to ride the lovely quiet road around the lake. Please be very aware of the water depth at the end of the dock. It is only waist deep and you cannot see the bottom. You don’t want to cannon ball off of this one;) We rented a pontoon boat one day at the near by Reynolds resort. This is a great place to find that ice cream sandwich for the kids:) There is lots of parking and plenty of space to play outside at The Home on Hawkins lake. Communication was very quick and thorough from Martina. A definite 5/5 for our family vacation! Thank you so much!

I'm from Vancouver, BC and grew up near Granville Island. After graduating from University of Toronto, I returned to BC and met my husband, Derek. We have two amazing kids, Henry (12) and Zoe (10). We love the outdoors, both in summer and winter (and even in the rain!). I also enjoy spinning (especially on our Peloton bike), reading, cooking, and watching movies and shows. Having been born and raised in Montana, then having moved to Seattle and subsequently Vancouver, Derek always dreamt of having a vacation home in the woods. We were thrilled to have discovered the South Cariboo in Summer 2020, and immediately fell in love with this home when we saw it. Our first night in the home was magical - after canoeing and swimming in the lake, we enjoyed dinner overlooking the water while an eagle perched on the tree right beside us searching the water for prey. At night, we heard loons calling. The serenity and beauty of Hawkins Lake is unparalleled.
