Escape to The Black Cat Retreat, a charming retro-inspired holiday home nestled in the peaceful riverside community of Nildottie on South Australia’s magnificent Murray River. Surrounded by vineyards, orange groves and spectacular river landscapes, it’s the perfect place to relax, reconnect and explore. Spend your days fishing, boating, hiking, birdwatching or discovering the nearby Big Bend cliffs, then unwind beneath a sky full of stars around the outdoor fire pit on a winter’s night. Sleeping up to six guests, Black Cat Retreat offers comfort, character and everything you need for a memorable family getaway or weekend escape with friends and loved ones. The home features x 2 queen bedrooms and one twin single.

Only 2 Klms from the Rivers edge, just far enough away from other hoilday maker’s noise.

Plenty to do in the area.
Nildottie has some of the darkest skies in the world, so ideal for stargazers.
Ngaut Ngaut indigenous rock art, Big Bend by night tours, fishing, walking, picnics, tennis, river activities. Caves, A Great Pub at Swan Reach. Top of the Town Op shop, a car museum.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The accommodation was clean and thoughtfully kitted out (excuse the pun) with everything you may need. The gardens are beautiful and we loved sitting outside and admiring the bird life. It was a wonderful base for exploring the SA mid-Murray region. Thank you to our host who made it easy to check-in/out.

Very restful

We had a three night stay over nye and it was just perfect. Good facilities and environment. We’ll be back in cooler months so we can enjoy the fire pit. Highly recommend Black Cat Cottage.

Perfect quiet location

Janet was perfect for managing our booking and stay in Nildottie. We enjoyed our time as a family kayaking on the river and viewing the stars, a short distance from the property. The property is full of al appliances and applications. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thankyou!

Oh so quiet and relaxing

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, we could view the stars from the property and it was very quiet and relaxing. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and a joy to make meals in. Shower was good, tv and wifi were a bonus. The bed in the main room was really comfortable and the blackout curtains much appreciated for our vacation sleep-in. Thank you Toddy! :)

Nildottie is a peaceful area, with some of the darkest skies in the world. It’s the perfect relaxing holiday destination. Having the magnificent Murray river near by. (2 klms) The river views are spectacular, especially at dusk. You can star gaze at the Big Bend look out or from the comfort of our garden.
