We had a great time at this property! Location and view is absolutely stunning. Private location and we enjoyed the peace and quiet, especially sitting out on the awesome deck.The swimming pool, fire pit are wonderful and the house games and pool table were a huge hit with all our teens. Also really loved the living room with vaulted ceilings with a breathtaking view. We also appreciated how stocked the house was with house staples in the kitchen and shampoo, etc in the bathroom. Lake access is a mile down the road and the small dock is rotted (I stepped and it crumbled in one spot) so hopefully the owner will replace that soon. The kayaks and paddle boat were available but they were really dirty and difficult to maneuver into the water with the dock being rotted and no hose or water to wash them down or rack to keep them relatively clean. There is A/C in the home, but it takes a long time to cool down so hopefully the owner will cool down the home sooner for the next guests. It was hot our first day so it made it uncomfortable that first night. After that, it was great. Owner was really responsive and really nice. Overall, it was a wonderful week with lots of great memories. Thank you!

End of Summer Escape

Out weekend at Paradise Getaway was just what we expected. The kitchen was very well-stocked with utensils, pots, pans,etc. The beds were clean and there were ample towels for all 11 of us. Having the pool, the anmazing view of the lake, and fabulous weather took it up a level. It was the break that everyone needed and that is why we give it a 5!

Calm and relaxing

There were 6 adults and 3 children 1 ,5,6 the toys for the children was unbelievable ,the deck or pool area to enjoy a cup of coffee or read a book was breathtaking. We swam everyday . Cazenovia was a hop skip and a jump. Fresh produce from farms around the area was so good. Shawn had emergency fire blankets outside by the grill and in the kitchen we had never seen any before and fortunately we didn’t need them but when we returned home we ordered them for all our family members . Thank you Shawn for sharing your home.

Great getaway

The house was great, more than enougn room for my family. Lots of activities to keep everyone busy. The pool by far was used the most. They literally provide everything but clothes & food. Made our stay great.

Wonderful week with family

The home was large enough to fit 7 adults, two teens, and a toddler. The privacy was wonderful and the kids enjoyed the pool each day we were there.

Very clean home

We stayed at this home for Colgate parent weekend. The house was immaculate and the home owner, Shawn, was very easy to work with. He offered us a late checkout and was happy to accommodate an early checkin. The experience was great.

Paradise Getaway Log Home

Our stay at the Paradise Getaway Log Home was wonderful! The home was clean, well stocked & beautifully decorated inside and out. The views from every room in the home were amazing, as were the views from the furnished patio deck. The outside lights & landscaping were gorgeous, (so many colorful flowers & shrubs). The host was friendly & helpful, giving us tips & directions to several of the areas attractions & restaurants. The location was great too. There were four different disc golf courses within a 30 minute drive & several parks with hiking trails & incredible waterfalls all within 15 minutes. Thank you Shawn for sharing your lovely log home with us for the weekend. We only wish we had more time to enjoy the heated pool & lake.

An Excellent Vacation Home for Families with Children

Our stay at the DeRuyter Lake House was perfect. The kids loved the playroom, games, toys, craft supplies and swing set. We also loved the pool and pool deck with furniture and water toys. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Hoping to rent again.

Beautiful Log Home

The log home was even better than the pictures. We all had a wonderful time at the pool, fishing, hiking and just relaxing. My 2yr old grandson also had a great time - SO much for him to do. He loved the playhouse. Shawn was very welcoming and responsive.

Pool Party

A great vacation with our family of kids and grandkids. Host was clear with instructions and responded to questions or issues as needed. Besides check-in and check-out only needed to make one stop to check pool settings and get the garbage. We had a great time.

DeRuyter lake home with pool

The property is wonderful, and well equipped with everything imaginable in the kitchen, as advertised, including basic spices/seasonings, pasta, potatoes. So many small appliances are available in the cabinets. Beds were comfortable. All towels, sheets, etc. were provided. So convenient, very quiet and Shawn is a very responsive owner. Would absolutely rent again!

Perfect!

The property is everything as advertised and more. Great overall experience with family as we had our short stay over a graduation weekend. Owners were very prompt and accommodating and property was well stocked and clean (not to mention the spectacular view of the lake you wake up to every day). We only wish we had more time to explore the lake and area….

Family Get Away exceeded our Expectations

The reviews said this property was well stocked but it blew us away all that they provided to make our stay all we dreamed it would be. The kitchen had every possible spice and condiment, canned good you could need as well as dozens of pots, pans, dishes, and small appliance you could want. Crockpot, griddle, immersion blender, if we looked- we found it. The toys, games, arts and crafts closet, and pool floats and toys were more than we ever imagined. And the house itself lent itself to time together and to private conversations because to our surprise the sound did not travel from room to room as we expected it would. The kids in the playroom could not be heard upstairs and if in the kitchen you couldn't really hear goings on in the living room. We just felt so welcome and cared for, and it had such an impact on our few days there. The only thing we didn't do was to Kayaak and that was because the launch was so overgrown we opted not venture into the mucky water. We all hope to return and encourage anyone who would like a getaway to check it out.

Wonderful Stay

House is beautiful. Inground pool was a hit with everyone. This is one of the most wellstocked homes I have rented. Plenty of room for the ten of us. Owner was very nice and available we needed. Will rent this house again.

Check in/out process

The property was wonderful and the owner was great with communication. However the checkin and out process was a bit much. He met us at the house to go over rules I am glad I was not alone as I would have felt uncomfortable being out in the country alone at a strangers home with a man. The checkout process was a bit much we were supposed to text the night before we left to schedule a time. That was difficult for us as we were all trying to leave at different times to get home to our families and still get the house cleaned in time. Overall it was a great stay listing was as expected rooms were clean. Id recommend staying here and stay again but just keep in mind the checkin and out process.

The land this house resides was my grandfather's 100 acre lot bought in the late 1930's and put in a family trust for future generations. With God's hand of provision, I moved my family back to the lake to raise buying 6 acres overlooking the lake. My older brother and I built this log home in 2002.

My wife and I homeschooled our kids. I'm part owner of the family insurance agency established by my grandfather in 1957 being a 3rd generation owner desiring to carry on the multi-generational vision.

I grew up on the other side of the lake, went to Houghton College in western NY, started my own business for 13 years and moved back in 2001 to nurture and expand my family insurance agency.

This Post & Beam Cedar Log Home speaks for itself. It's private, isolated, custom made with a layout that is open and spacious being ideal for family reunions or retreats. For me, it's like coming home to a vacation property everyday. The view of God's creation and animals outside standing anywhere in the house is breath taking. With deer, foxes, rabbits, turkeys, eagles and hawks, you never know what you're going to wake up to or see during the day. We have awesome sunsets as we relax from the day's events giving thanks reflecting at the wonder and beauty around us.

You have a great variety of activities with family and friends. Enjoy the lakefront 1 mile down the road with swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and lake scenery. Up at the house, we have a pool(2019), big bonfires with wood supplied, gas grill some steak, rest in the hammock, play horseshoes & badminton, roast some smores,(we supply the materials and long forks) tell campfire stories and jokes or just enjoy the scenery.

Inside, play some pool/ping pong while watching a game, use the exercise equipment, nap, enjoy the open spacious rooms and deck. Oh, and enjoy the scenery overlooking the lake.

We have a beautiful playroom for the kids, barbie house, play on the swing set, sandbox, games galore and wifi.

All this is just at the house. Syracuse, Cortland and Oneida are just 1/2 hour away. Ski resorts, golf courses, state forests with trails for hiking, biking and skiing, elegant restaurants 12 minutes away and true Italian pizza 5 minutes away.

During the winter, our 800 ft driveway is the best sledding path in all central NY!

All four seasons provide refreshing perspectives about this creation made just for us. We look forward to sharing it with you for a spell.
