Relax at The Lazy Loon- Lakeside fire pit/Swimming/Hot tub/Game room

Don’t miss your opportunity to lounge at the Lazy Loon! Take advantage of an up North experience in our updated, single level, 3 bed/1 bath home with a spacious, open floor plan, and fully equipped kitchen to meet all your cooking needs. A gas grill is also available during the summer and fall season. Upper South Long Lake is 800 acres of fun (for any season), located just 2 hours north of the Twin Cities and less than 10 min SE of Brainerd.

The Space:
Enjoy full-sun throughout the day and into the evening with our south facing exposure, 100 ft of sandy shoreline, a private sandy beach for the kids, and of course, fishing from the dock will promise to be entertaining. The property’s level elevation, with no sloping or stairs to the lake, make this an easily accessible set up for all ages and abilities. When you are ready for a break from the sun, relax under the large shade trees and enjoy dinner on the deck, while embracing the stunning lake views, the loons, or even an occasional eagle or two! Of course, don’t miss out on evening smores and gatherings around the lakeside fire pit.

We have you covered for cool, rainy days inside with a variety of board and card games, puzzles, and plenty of family friendly DVD’s.

During the winter months, the Lazy Loon is a great place to stay for ice fishing, snowmobiling and other winter activities. Upper South Long Lake is well known for ice fishing and it's home of the big Crappie Flop fishing tournament. In addition, we are conveniently located with easy access to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails! It is a great place to enjoy every season!

Other things to note:
We have enjoyed sharing our property with others over the years. We only ask that the families that consider choosing to share our home will appreciate and respect it as well. We are looking for responsible adults and/or families only please. Absolutely no parties, no pets and no smoking allowed.

Always a great stay!

The upgrades to the cabin are great! We loved the Golden Tee game and Hot tub on a rainy day. Immediate response by the host whenever we had a question! We always look forward to coming back.

Lovely

We had a great small girls weekend at this property and loved it. The kitchen was spacey and had a large table and breakfast bar. TV room was spacey for us ladies to watch TV or just chat. Small game room in the back. Room in each bedroom and enough beds to cover the 5 ladies attending. Thing we loved most was the hot tub!! A few early setbacks included: VRBO not emailing us the Pin to get into the property, and thankfully the property owner answered immediately and was able to give us the code. We also arrived on Friday afternoon, shortly after a Wednesday night snowstorm and the driveway / parking space and sidewalks were not shoveled. Luckily some had melted, so it was manageable. We understood since it was later in the season, and there were shovels and salt, but wish it was plowed/shoveled. Overall, a great stay and will stay again!

Perfect getaway

We just wanted a stress free girls weekend getaway and we couldn’t have found a more perfect place! Beautiful place on the lake that we could relax in the hot tub or deck. We will definitely be coming back when we get a chance. I would also recommend it for a family vacation. It has everything you could need!

Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway

This place was awesome and had all the amenities described. The view of the lake was gorgeous and was within steps of the patio door. We appreciated the hot tub and enjoyed it immensely. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need to cook with. We also enjoyed the game room. The communication with the owner went smoothly and was fast. We will be back!

Birthday weekend

My husband and I had a lovely birthday celebration at this cabin. The amenities were great. Love having a hot tub. Beautiful property. The cabin had everything we could have needed. Only tip would be to have curtains or some kind of window coverings on the slider doors for more privacy. We will be back. Thank you.

Great Place!!

Our stay here was great and we will definitely be back if we need a nice relaxing break. Our main reason for booking was the hotub! The only reason I would not give this place 5 stars was the comfort of the couch/furniture. It was outdated and in my opinion not comfortable. We spent most of our time when watching tv/shows in the master bedroom on a small tv as the couch was not ideal. Other than this the place was phenomenal!

Annual Family Getaway

This was our third year at the Lazy Loon. We love it here! Our only wish is that we could stay longer -- and more often. The property is just right for our annual family vacation. The deck is where we spent most of our time. The cabin owner is great too and has always been very responsive. We hope to be back again next year!

Memorable family vacation

This property is exceptional. When you walk in, right away you see how clean and how well it is taken care. The view from the cabin to the lake Is gorgeous. The kitchen is very well equipped with whatever you need maybe. The owner reached out right away to make sure that we got in and we were happy with our accommodations.

Another great stay at the Lazy Loon!

This is our third time in four years to stay at the Lazy Loon, and it won't be our last. Everything is great from the beds to the kitchen supplies to the AC. We love the sandy beach for our kids, and the private dock for our boat. Having it ~2 hours from the city and ~5 mins from Paul Bunyan Land just makes it perfect. Looking forward to next time!

Perfect setting for family vacation.

Our second time staying here and once again - we had a great week! Love the cabin layout, setting and decor - add the deck, the yard and sandy beach and it is everything we needed for adults and toddler granddaughter. Lots of fun and good memories made!

Summer 2024 Stay

We stayed here in 2021 and liked it. Came back this year because we wanted to be someplace we knew would be good. The hosts made several improvements to the property and it continues to be a great place to stay and enjoy the lake.

Come enjoy our brand new hot tub with a lake view or you can cozy up to a beach side fire pit to enjoy s'mores and good stories! we are also now featuring a small game room to enjoy some indoor fun as well. Want to explore the area? no problem Just a 10 min drive to Brainerd or Crosby area! close enough to enjoy all the the Fun that the Brainerd lakes area has to offer but far enough out that you can enjoy the Peacefull up north!
