The Cottage at River Stone Ranch

The Cottage at River Stone Ranch is the perfect romantic getaway for two. It is part of a scenic five-acre property that includes the historic River Stone Ranch House, Carriage House and Barn. (See VRBO property listing number 696565 for the Ranch House.) The property, located in the heart of the beautiful Animas River Valley on what was once a hay farm, is on one of the most popular scenic bicycle routes in the Durango area and is conveniently located 20 minutes north of Durango and 20 minutes south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The charming one bed, one bath cottage is renovated in modern farmhouse style and is filled with light and beautifully furnished. The open concept kitchen and living area boast beautiful views to the pond and the babbling brook which meanders by the patio most of the year. The kitchen is fully stocked and the cozy living room is outfitted with a flat screen television. (Please note that the fireplace depicted in the photos is decorative only.) The bedroom has a queen-size bed dressed in luxurious linens, a large flat screen television tucked away in the bureau and an office nook overlooking beautiful views of the pond and brook. A large dressing and laundry area are located downstairs. Property owners and managers are on site to greet you upon arrival and are a stone's throw away to ensure an unforgettable stay.

Perfect Colorado Cottage Getaway

This was a perfect place to stay for a needed break. The cottage is just as advertised. Everything is so well done.The setting is quiet. The cottage is super clean. Bed and furniture are comfortable!On top of that, the host are Fantastic. Five stars, nice work!

Amazing Property!

My wife and I have stayed at a few properties in Durango over the years, and this one ranks at the top. Views, setting, amenities, condition, and contact with the owner. Walking down to the Animas River on the back of the property was the “cherry on top”. A little slice from heaven we hope to visit again soon.

River Stone Cottage

This cottage is perfect for a couple and well appointed with everyone we needed. Todd was so nice and helpful with anything we asked. The setting and location are dreamy and very private even with neighbors nearby. We would definitely come back to visit!

5 Stars! Perfect Mountain Getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage! It was the perfect blend of cozy, quiet, and scenic. The views of the surrounding mountains, the peaceful pond, and the Animas River right behind the property were breathtaking. We especially enjoyed the outdoor sitting area for morning coffee while watching the mule deer graze—it was magical!The location couldn’t be better—just a short drive to downtown Durango, Purgatory Ski Resort, and the Durango Hot Springs. It truly feels like a secluded retreat in nature, yet it’s so close to all the restaurants, shops, and attractions.The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, always respectful of our privacy and focused on ensuring we had a great stay.We can’t recommend this property enough for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the mountains. We’re already planning our next visit!

My wife’s dream cottage

Just absolutely excellent! Cute as a bug and just what we needed to escape from Austin heat. Dondi and Todd are the perfect host……the attention you need but not too much. We will definitely be back next year for a little longer stay!

Incredibly charming cottage

My husband and I spent 4 nights here and loved it. The cottage is as charming as it gets and has everything you need. The “irrigation” ditch is the cutest little river and provides a wonderful sound and the pond in the background adds to the beauty of this well cared for yard. Great spot to spend the evenings. Owner’s SO lives on site and was very nice and respectful. Location was perfect for hiking/fishing around Purgatory and dinner in Durango. Highly recommend!

Cottage Getaway

Our stay was perfect! The cottage is beautifully designed and the setting and scenery is magnificent! The small stream in front of the cottage, along with the beautifully manicured landscape and pond in the distance, made for an incredibly relaxing location. There is a hammock for relaxing and reading and a cozy area in the trees with adirondack chairs and a fire pit. The staff was very friendly as well. We were given a tour of the property and filled in on the history as well. We would definitely stay there again. It's only about 20 minutes out of Durango in the gorgeous countryside. It almost feels as if you're stepping away from reality.

Better than imagined!

My wife and I spent a week at the cottage at river stone ranch. The accommodations and the location were truly amazing! The interior was so tastefully done and all the high end extra touches were really appreciated! We are already making plans to bring our 3 sons and their wives along with our three grandkids to River Stone Ranch. Having the option of getting both the ranch house and the cottage on that beautiful property will make that doable. My wife and I have been renting homes for many years and our hosts were truly the best we have ever experienced. A huge thank you to Dondi and Todd!!

Beautiful in every way imagineable

The cottage and grounds are in an idyllic setting. Perfectly situated midway between Durango and Purgatory resort, the acreage is beautifully manicured and set within a historic ranch and remodeled to a gorgeous finished product. The interior is warm and welcoming with every amenity one would need. We chose this for a relaxing vacatino to allow New Years 2020 to slide on by and take in the surrounding snowy landscape with skiing and snowshoeing and our expectations were far exceeded with the property itself and the assistance from the owner. We've already begun looking at a return possibly this Spring or Summer as it's the ideal location for our adventures in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.

Absolutely Perfect

My fiancée and I stay here for 4 days during Christmas. This was the absolute best cabin we have ever stayed in. It felt like it was plucked straight out of a magazine and Hallmark movie ready. Everything was flawless and of the highest quality. Beautiful flooring, cabinetry, appliances, furnishings and bedding. Bathroom was amazing and the fireplace worked well. The gas stove, Subzero fridge, built-in stove and microwave made cooking pleasant. The internet and TV setup were excellent. We were so comfortable, we really didn't want to leave. The property itself is gorgeous. Nestled between two mountains, we were visited by deer, birds, and a flock of wild turkey every morning. Purgatory Ski Resort is just a short drive away as well as many other outings (We took a sleigh ride). The drive from the cabin to Silverton and Ouray was breathtaking. Donnie and John were super nice and we wanted for nothing. They were always available yet never intrusive. We can't wait to return!
