This home is a skier's paradise. The home is at the base of Rib Mountain State Park. Very short drive to the top of Granite Peak where you can park and ski down. Ride the chair lifts back to the top when you are done for the day and drive home to warm up by the indoor fireplace, or for the brave ones, by the outdoor firepit.

Rib Mountain Log home near state park featuring updated open concept kitchen with granite countertops, gas cooktop, kitchen island with granite snack bar. Awesome screened porch overlooking backyard fire pit for enjoying the amazing fully treed lot. Lots of wild life make their way through the backyard. Main level boasts 3 bedrooms and bathroom. The lower level has a spacious family room with fireplace and huge lower level bedroom! Attached two car garage and finished 30x30 heated detached garage is excellent for a private room for the children to play and or game room. We do have extra Queen size air mattresses that can be used in this building, however, there it must be noted that there is no running water in the extra building. The building is set up with poker tables, a bar area, scooter for kids to ride and lounge area. There are two separate rooms in the building that can be used for extra sleeping arrangements or play area. Hardwood floors and new carpeting through out the home.

There is a locker area for all your outdoor gear/ski equipment/fishing equipment etc. There are also extra skis and boots for your little ones to use while you are visiting.

The house is a 4 bedroom house (plus much more if you count the detached 3 room furnished building in the backyard. 2 full bathrooms and beautiful kitchen, all of which have been newly remodeled.

Although country feel, in a State Park, you are blocks from area restaurants, grocery stores, movie theater and shopping center. Grab your fishing pole and fish the many area lakes Wausau has to offer.

Love the location!

The locaton was very quiet and beautiful nature scene. Walking distance to trails and hikes. Short drive to the groceries. The owners were very fast at communicating and everyone enjoyed themselves! Thank you so much!

Great place for family gathering

We were in town for a family function and this home became the perfect gathering space for our small group who were staying around town. There is a lot of sleeping space and room to spread out for those who were staying at the house. The bunk room was a kiddo favorite. The outdoor space and play set were great for everyone to be outside and have something they could enjoy. The hosts were very responsive to questions or issues that arose. We would recommend this property to others looking for a space for a large number to stay and be able to have others over.

Awesome location

Great hosts, friendly safe neighborhood, convenient to stores but set in beautiful Rib Mountain State Park. Loved hiking and biking here. Younger kids enjoyed trampoline park, swimming pools, tennis, disc golf, ultimate, mini golf. The cabin was very well stocked with every kitchen item you could possibly want and it also has with lots of comfortable beds. All the cousins shared the basement while adults were upstairs in the bedrooms.We also went to a Wausau Woodchucks game which was super fun. We will definitely be back! Go Woodchucks!

Snowboard and ski weekend

I was a little disappointed the drive up ski down isn’t a lie, however everyone better be able to do expert runs. That is the only access to the ski down part. Granite Peak doesn’t disappoint, excellent resort. This house served its purpose for us and kids however a few things we address with the host already. I hate giving bad reviews but it needs a update furniture and decor. I’m sure it’s difficult to keep up on this kind of stuff. But it does make a better impression. Host was very nice !

Jennifer, Thank you for the upgrade to the home with the pool. I do not know if you visit it often but it needs some TLC There are a ton of burnt out bulbs, an ant problem in the pool area and generally it needs to be gone through and have maintainence. Your location and site was amazing. It was however not very neat, clean or organized for use. Also, I would recommend instructions for tv use and internet. There were none on site, and all the batteries for the remotes were near dead which caused a lot of issues with the use of the tvs.

Excellent Gathering Spot for Departmental Ski Trip

I organized a departmental ski trip for other PhD students in my department and another department. We had 20 attendees total; we drove up from Evanston (4hrs) in six cars. We had no issues sleeping everyone. There are only two bathrooms, which can be a limiting factor if everyone expects to shower. Most of our group downhill skied on Saturday at Granite Peak. We fortunately came immediately after the first snow storm of the season; it was good quality skiing, even compared to western US skiing. I took folks in my carpool to cross-country ski on Sunday at the Nine Mile Forest Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing compound. This compound was clean and serene - certainly worth the entrance fee. Jennifer was a responsive, kind, and organized host. The house is well-designed for large groups: we made tacos on Saturday evening with an enormous variety of meats (5) and toppings (~15). The kitchen was well-stocked and we could prepare our meal without issue. The large island allowed a large number of people to cut and prepare food in parallel; it was a lot of fun but also efficient. The couch area is also quite large and allowed us to transition into a game night easily. Overall, I highly recommend this location for a large gathering.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience

From booking thru checkin/checkout, this was a great experience. Hosts were super responsive to any questions even with it being a holiday week. The house was exactly as advertised, spacious with plenty of room for our family and their friends. The ski-room was very convenient for storing our ski gear overnight. The location was incredible. Loved being able to just drop the kids off at the top of the mountain vs having to go around Rib and finding parking (just make sure your skiiers are aware the slopes from the top parking lot are not exactly beginner friendly. Fine for most of our group, but we did still have a few that were more comfortable making the trip down to the base and staying on greens). Super convenient either way. Most of all wanted to commend the hosts, I've stayed at many properties with this large group and it was great to have a homeowner so quickly responsive to the variety of questions that always popup. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us, we look forward to staying here again!

Spacious home for a large group

Amazing spacious home for a large group. It provided a fire pit that we could relax and enjoy. Rooms provide a great deal space and sleeping quarters for everyone to sleep comfortably.

Great ski cabin

We enjoyed a weekend at the house in early Feb 2022. We had 5 kids with us and there was plenty of room for them to sleep and hang out downstairs. The kitchen was clean and well stocked. The mudroom was a wonderful place to keep our gear between trips to the mountain. Easy drive up the mountain to hop out and ski down. Will definitely use this house again. Hosts were very responsive and easy to work with.

Ski Trip

We stayed here for a ski trip and loved the house. The ski lockers/mud room at the entrance kept the house clean and the house was equipped with an unbelievable amount of appliances for every type of cook. The layout of the house was also really great for a large group of people. Additionally, the mountain is a very short and easy drive from the house, which was super convenient. Furthermore, Jennifer was very responsive and kind throughout the entire process and stay. We would definitely stay here again!

We’ll be back!

Some friends and I took a weekend ski trip to granite peak. We really couldn’t have picked a more convenient location. Granite peak took about 7minutes to get to. Shopping and tons of restaurants were less than 5minutes. House was clean and exactly as described. I would definitely recommend, we will be back.

Not what we expected

Downstair Bathroom no locks. Only two bathroom shouldn't be able to be listed for 12 plus people. Two gas grill, super dirty. Big grill all broken, gas tank empty (have to refill one at kwik trip). Owner tell us to open the garage door manually ..upon closing it fall off its track. Can't close the darn garage for the whole time we were there. Wasp nest at the fire pit area, once we use the saw to cut the wood for it. The storm sting my friend three time. Have to buy wasp killer spray to get rid off it.

Birthday weekend getaway

Great place for a laid back birthday celebration weekend with friends. Made use of the backyard and extra garage space to play games and hang out. Kitchen was updated and great to use, and all of the different sleeping places accommodated everyone great.

Weekend Getaway with the Boys

This was a perfect spot for our get together: Comfortable beds, space for lawn games, back garage to hangout in at night, nice kitchen to prep meals. This place had everything we could have wanted and more!

Good place for a big party

Overall, everyone in my group enjoy our stay. We love the space and thought the place was a lovely home. The kids enjoyed game boards that was provided. Nothing much to complain about beside the fact that the oven, grill, popcorn, and cotton candy machine was dirty.

Great ski weekend

Fantastic location and set up for a ski vacation. We had 3 families with young skiing kids and the place was great. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

Great Ski Vacation

Overall, the stay was great. The house was very nice and clean. I misread the description and thought it was ski in/ ski out. However, it is very close to the hill (not walkable.) We have 4 families. So, it would have been nice to have 1 more adult room, but the kids room was great. The coffee machine was great. The kids loved the cotton candy machine and hoverboards. It was nice for them to have their own space in the back building.
