Roomy two bedroom cottage in the quiet village of Grand Marais, Michigan on Lake Superior's south shore village. Sits on a corner lot that is lined by a white picket fence. Has everything needed for a relaxing stay.

Outdoor gas grill and fire pit and everything needed for outdoor dining plus the convenience of restaurants, stores and several beaches that are a five minute walk away!

This cottage was great! By far the best cottage we have stayed at in Grand Marais. Our family was so comfortable here. The yard and firepit is perfect for roasting smores, stargazing, and as my girls say ...chillin out. The bicycles were the biggest hit. We rode to town multiple times. My parents have a bench dedicated to them in the campground. So pleased that we could walk over anytime from the cottage and just sit there and watch Lake Superior. We will definitely be back for another visit.

A very good place to stay. It was perfectly located to serve as a jump point for whatever you may want to do in the area. We liked having the beach within a 2 minute drive as well as most of the local restaurants. The place was roomy for a family of 3. I'd recommend staying here.

Overall, this cottage is very charming and we enjoyed our stay very much. It is an older house, so expect some quirkiness like sloping floors, but also expect character and charm. Location is great for walking to town, coffee, restaurants and the beach, of course. Great jumping off point to explore Pictured Rocks. We enjoyed many of the cottage's thoughtful and useful amenities such as the bikes, dvd movies, and the kayak! We also appreciated the cleanliness of the cottage, the comfy beds, and the plentiful towels (including beach towels)! This was our first VRBO experience and everything went very smoothly for us before, during, and after the rental.

Sister Vacation

My sister and I like to go to the UP every year to enjoy some cold weather. The house was just as described. Charming, cozy and comfortable. Beds were great and we liked having the two couches to lounge. Communication with host was excellent. So close to the lake. We loved it. Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short due to incoming ice storm. Host was gracious enough to refund a couple days even though he was not obligated to. Thanks so much for sharing your home. Definitely will be back.

My sister and I truly enjoyed our stay in Grand Marais for the UP 200 dog sled race. We have been attending the race for years but this year was the absolute best at the Mermaid House. Great sister memories were made. Lots of snow, perfect UP winter!

Great place

We enjoyed this lovely home close to downtown and Lake Superior. You can hear the waves! Host was great with communication. Very clean, very comfortable. We’ll definitely return!

A Week in Grand Marais

The Mermaid Cottage in Grand Marais was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway in Grand Marais. The cottage is clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly. Wonderful location for walking to the beach and restaurants. This was our 2nd stay and look forward to coming back.

Grand Marais Getaway

Beautiful!

We loved the spacious yard where we could eat our meals al fresco and while away the afternoons reading in the sun when we weren't taking short walks to the beach or getting ice cream a few blocks away. The Mermaid house is well situated and well appointed for a week in the upper peninsula's best village.

Great location in paradise

We have visited a lot of areas no place is like this town! The mermaid house is in a great location we where able to walk to just about anywhere. We got to enjoy a couple campfires and had lots of wonderful famiy time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Great Location

This is the 3rd time my sister and I have stayed at Vacation Paradise. We come to Grand Marais annually to hunt for rocks. We love that the house is within walking distance to all the restaurants in town. Vacation Paradise is so comfortable and decorated nicely with a beach theme.

The location is just 2 short blocks to the beach or the downtown area. Grand Marais is on the Eastern edge of the sand dunes of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with all varieties of water and hiking activities just minutes away.

The large backyard has seating around a fire pit, outdoor table and chairs and gas grill. A short (approximate 900 ft) walk gets you to the bay or Lake Superior. It is also a short walk to all of the downtown shops.
