“The Makahuena” is located on the southernmost point of Kauai. This unique oceanside resort is situated on the edge of a bluff providing spectacular coastal views. This 2-bd/2-ba is a single-level condo on the second story of the building, walking up stairs is required. Primary bedroom is furnished with California king size bed and ensuite bathroom, guest bedroom has two twin size beds (can be converted to king bed if requested in advance), full guest bathroom with shower/tub combo. Kitchen is fully equipped with granite countertops, Sapele Mahogany cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. You will find a portable A/C in guest bedroom and living room to make your stay more comfortable. ***Construction Notice: There is active construction occurring on the neighboring property, and may cause noise or partial obstruction to the existing island and ocean views. Rental rates have already been adjusted to reflect a competitive rate.***

Was the perfect place!

We loved our stay and the unit was great! Spacious, clean, a great ocean view with only a 10 min walk to the beach! It came with all of the amentities we needed and more! The property manager was great and the only thing we contacted him/her about was the TV and they fixed it right away! Would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

Southernmost Point of Kauai

Great condo close to Poipu Beach! We were able to see turtles on the beach each evening/morning. Complex has a nice path along the coastal cliff to watch the waves crash and turtles swim by. Would happily stay here again. Thx for sharing the unit with us!

Great location, AC not sufficient

Nice location close to Poipu beach and with a nice balcony overlooking the ocean. We were there in the summer and the AC (two portable units) was undersized. The unit (especially the master) felt warmer than the outside, even with the AC running. I was very warm at night which made it difficult to sleep. They could just have put a couple of floor fans in or an AC in the master, which I see a few other people have already commented on.

Great Location

Great location

Very enjoyable stay. Close to beach and fun restaurants and activities. Sunnier side of the Island. We even met locals that live in the complex that were great. Would return!!

Lovely Condo on the water

We loved our stay at the condo. They also had beach supplies which helped so much! My son especially appreciated the boogie board. Would definitely stay again next trip.

Great Location

Great location to explore Poipu and all of Kauai. Weather great on South Shore. Shipwreck Beach is actually about a 20 minute walk but lovely setting to walk especially in the morning. Sunrise right out your deck doors. Great beaches close. Wonderful time here.

Condo overlook

This two bedroom was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and we enjoyed the view. We saw dolphins whales and sea turtles from the patio! The walk to the point allows a great sunrise, and sunset.

Great Location!

This condo is located in a really ideal location in Poipu. You can easily walk to several different beaches and restaurants. The view from the unit of the ocean is beautiful and the breezes off of the water are perfect and really helpful on hot days. The condo building and unit are a bit dated and could use some upgrades, but it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. They provided beach chairs, umbrellas, and snorkel gear which was wonderful and we used them daily. Overall, this was a great place and we enjoyed our stay!

Great location

A rare complex where you can see both the sunrise and the sunset, lots of whales during the winter too. There is construction next door that will be going on for a few years as the homes get built. Also, orange plastic fencing appeared one day without notice on our balcony, along with a sign warning about structural issues, not pretty to look at. The walking path is right in front of the balcony but didn’t bother us. Did have some very loud neighbors partying until midnight.

Nice view of the ocean

The unit was nicely located with a nice view of the ocean from the lanai. However, the appliances (washer, dryer and dishwasher) have had their days. About time for them to be replaced. Also, the internet connection was so poor. We tried troubleshooting it per instructions but it didn't help at all. It would also be nice to have centralized a/c because it was pretty warm, thanks for the breeze coming from the ocean. On a positive note, Kristen was very nice and tried to offer help on the issues we have encountered.

Sunrises over the ocean

We will really miss having our morning coffee and evening cocktails on the balcony watching sunrises and sunsets. We even saw the occasional whale spouts. The ocean view condo is in a great location. Walking trail starts next to complex. Wonderful beaches are quick drive. Staying and hanging at the lovely pool and jacuzzi is another great option. Don't forget to smell the plumeria on the way to pool. The unit is comfortable with a kitchen set up with what you need to make meals in unit. The smart, big screen TV is great when taking break from sun or evening entertainment. The trade winds keep the unit cool most days, but on calm days, the ACs came in handy. Be sure to point the living room one toward main bedroom and put ceiling fans on to distribute the cool air. The unit has some basics for laundry, dishes etc. and there is a nice cordless vacuum in the second bedroom closet. The unit is a bit dated, but it was very comfortable for us. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful condo in Poipu

We were fortunate enough to stay in this lovely condo for 4 nights. It was the perfect size for a family of four and the kids loved having their own beds and room. The kitchen was very nice and well stocked and the unit was clean and spacious. While we were unlucky to have some rainy weather (which is unusual for this area during the time of year), we made the best of it by using the hot tub by the pool and by playing cards and games together as a family when we couldn't go out. I would highly recommend watching the sunset one night from the beach overlook just a few steps outside the condo. A little further down there is a great view of the rocks with a arched bridge over the water with the waves crashing all around. The one thing that I would make note of is that the view from the condo from one side is slightly compromised as they are getting ready to do construction on the lot next to the condo complex and they have erected some fencing along the property line obscuring the view. Ron was easy to communicate with and we had no complaints at all. We wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay in this same unit again if we are fortunate enough to make another trip to Kauai.

Great stay

Poipu condo

Property is well maintained and clean. This unit is also well-maintained and clean. The east facing ocean view is wonderful for viewing the sunrise! Fabulous sunrises!!This end unit was very quiet and peaceful.We will return.

Basic, met needs

The unit needs to be cleaned well and updated. It has a sunrise view, probably nicer before the recent construction. Sunset views can be had within the property. The complex is nicely maintained. Kitchen supplies were adequate, more mixing bowls, tupperware containers and a tea kettle would be nice additions. The smoke detector was beeping. Mgmt did not respond to text. Lightbulbs burned out. Drapes and sofa were dirty. Window in secondary bedroom is broken, did not open. Water and sun damage to flooring. Lots of corroded fixtures, likely due to salt air. These units are selling for over a million dollars, this unit could be quite luxurious with a refresh. Also, damage deposit required, not in initial rental agreement.

Quite place with great views

Stayed for a long weekend and the place was everything we needed. The apartment was clean and had all the essentials we needed for our stay. The property was easy to access and had ample parking. The access to the coast and the nearby beaches was great and an amazing way to start and/or end the day.
