Let me begin by saying this lodge offers an absolutely spectacular view of the Boyne Mountain property, unfortunately the positives end there. Our family rented the Valley View lodge to celebrate Christmas, my husband and I arrived a day early so we could decorate the place before our children and grandchildren arrived. Good thing we did.
Upon entering the kitchen we noticed a foul smell. After some investigation we discovered the source to be standing water in the dishwasher. Fortunately, my husband was able to resolve the issue. When we opened the refrigerator we were quite surprised to find a fair amount of opened food stuffs (salad dressings, jellies, coffee creamer, etc.). We found a similar situation in the pantry (pancake mix, crackers, cereal, etc.). The owner (Natalie) claimed this was “paying it forward”. Don’t know about you but I am not comfortable eating open food stuffs left behind by someone I don’t know. Besides we needed the room for the food items we had brought. Had a similar odor issue in one of the downstair bathrooms only this time the source was a dead and decaying mouse caught in a trap in the linen closet. But the most annoying problem of all was the infestation of Western Conifer Seed Bugs (aka Stink Bugs). You should Google this critter, they’re not small or pretty! We killed over twenty of these bugs before guests arrived but they still continued to show up.This place is not well maintained; carpet is stained (don’t rearrange the furniture),
