This adorable cottage has the most amazing views and the host was super nice and available for anything needed. The rooms were spacious and the kitchen was perfect. Must stay again

Great Getaway

We had an amazing time at this cute property! It is quiet and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the kayaks and aqua cycle! The cottage is perfect for a couple looking to unwind and relax!

Amazing stay by the lake

Beautiful views, quiet neighborhood, attentive hosts. We can’t recommend this place more. Sherry & Mark have provided a beautiful home that made it feel like ours.

Early summer vacation

Overall a very pleasant vacation, we enjoyed visiting the small towns in the area. The cottage was very nice inside, clean and stocked well with what we needed. The bed was comfortable which was important to us! We were a little disappointed in the deck furniture, which was quite worn and swimming in front of the cottage wasn't good. All in all, a very nice cottage that could use a little maintenance on the walkways outside. Neighbors on the East side were very friendly. As others have mentioned, all the signs posted up and down the access road referring to "rental property/not hotels" weren't very welcoming.

We were looking to relax, and we did. We will say the lake was disappointing because it is over wrought with weeds. However, the house was amazing! Very homy, very clean, it had everything we could possibly imagine! Sherry and Mark were wonderful and couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. The neighbors were very nice too! Frankenmuth is close, we recommend going (don't bring pets) and so is a really great Mexican restaurant called Don Felipe.

Getaway

Enjoyed our stay. Surprisingly spacious for a 1 bedroom. Great views. Lots of bird watching. We loved the multiple entertaining areas and especially the wifi, since service isn't great. The covered porch was well used for rainy evenings.

Anniversary trip

Great Lake House Retreat

Beautiful, cozy, clean, 1 bedroom house on private lake. Owners are equally fantastic. Had everything we needed and then some. Highly recommend!!

Weekend on Murphy lake

Spent the weekend with my girlfriend at the cottage and everything was perfect. Beautiful inside and out, with a great view of the sun rise over the lake

Slice of heaven

This cottage is perfect - decorated so cute- light bright and serene- Hosts were wonderful with great tips for making the most of our visit to the area as 1 st timers- we would stay all summer if we could! Thank you mark and Sherry!!

Awesome trip

Great trip. Very organized property. Great view of lake, and convenient location to Millington, Vassar, and Frankenmuth. Lots of switches in cabin, no clue what they all went to.

Serene out of the way house on a lake

If you want to relax stay here. Off the beaten path. View off the deck is awesome. If you want hustle and bustle you gotta drive to find it. Owners were very kind and communicated with us as needed.

Cute Cottage

Thank you Sherry for a great experience this weekend at your cottage. It is so darn cute and we were so relaxed. Especially in the evening sipping on a glass of wine enjoying the fire on the covered porch. Love the Hawaiian theme. Definitely will come back in the summer to enjoy the lake. Molly our lab just loved jumping off the dock to get the ball. Positive experience from all of us

Beautiful Cottage on the Lake!

The house was very clean and inviting with fun furniture and a great view! Sherry and Mark left a lovely note of welcome and a delicious box of local chocolates. That was very sweet but, my favorite part was the dog accessories including dog bowls and sheets so our pups could sit with us on the furniture! a good time was had by all.

Amazing!!

This home is exactly as described and was perfect for what we needed. Being originally from the area, it was great to have our own place for the week that we were back in town and spending time on the porch overlooking the lake was such a peaceful way to start and end each busy day of visiting friends and family. We have traveled all across the country, with our dogs, and have to say that this was the most well appointed and stocked home that we have stayed at! And so clean, which is even more important. We would definitely love to come back when we are in the area again. Sherry and Mark are outstanding hosts! Highly recommend!

Romantic Getaway Cottage

All I can say is wow! Magnificent view, clean, newly renovated cottage. Warm & inviting. Sherry & Mark have created a space that is amazing! Vibrant colors, open floor plan with high ceilings and skylights. We enjoyed bonfires on the beach complete with s’more supplies, cozy seating areas with gas fireplaces on the deck and lanai, the boat for exploring the island, the great dock for fishing and floating the day away on a raft in the lake. So relaxing and peaceful. Can’t wait to return. Perfect summer getaway!

You won't want to leave!

First, I can't say enough about the views of Lake Murphy. This was one of the most relaxing and peaceful spots I've ever been to. We used the boat & took our pup Lucy swimming. Then I found the water float/raft in the shed & had to float around the water right out front. We took a short ride to Frankenmuth, but we mostly enjoyed the peace & quiet. Our Hosts Sherry & Mark were wonderful and took care of any issue we had. The place was clean and had every amenity you could want. However (and this is not a complaint), there aren't a lot of places to eat. You may want to bring your own food. Tina, Jim & Lucy

A bit uncomfortable

Beautiful view of the lake. Cottage very clean. Stayed for 2 weeks. It became clear as we drove into the neighborhood lane that renters are not welcome in their lake neighborhood. There were anti- renter signs on all 9 neighbors yards - it was a bit uncomfortable to know that we were not welcome and we worked at maintaining a low profile.We hoped to do a lot of fishing but did not know the electric motor was a small trolling motor- it was faster to row.Did not explore the lake like we would have if we had larger motor. If we would have known about the small motor and the disapprovals of the neighborhood we would have passed in this rental.

Memorable

We went to celebrate our 39th anniversary, first trip with our 1 y/o Australian Shepard Piper. Unfortunately for us, our zealous, strong Piper caused my husband to fall at a rest stop on the way there. He thought he’d be ok so didn’t tell me. We got to see the house and property and spend one night before my husband decided he needed to go to the ER back in Ohio. Thankfully nothing broken. Mark and Sherry were very kind and understanding, graciously offering us to come back and finish our stay we paid for. The house was very clean, comfortable, we look forward to going back to swim and fish!!

Short visit

Cute cabin. Listing states 'sleeps 4' in one spot and specifies '2 adults and 2 children' in another so be careful. Also, be careful about your communications with this owner. It doesn't matter what she agrees to. What counts is what's in the paper you sign. That's also what would stand up in court. Read carefully. Admittedly, I had 2 extra people there for 1 night which freaked a neighbor out. I guess he thought we were having some huge pot smoking party when my sons were out smoking cigs and vaping as permitted. Or maybe it was the blow up sprinkler my son had for my 2 year old grandson. Not sure. Our choice was leave or 2 of us go to a motel but we wouldn't be able to visit even though visitors were agreed to in the emails we exchanged (which I have copies of). The Mr suggested we get a partial refund for the 4 nights we would not be there. The Mrs said no, behaved hysterically and, worst of all, yelled at my 14 year old grandson who was standing beside me. Totally uncalled for. We left in a great hurry due to being informed the cleaner would soon be there. The place was left in good condition except that, in the rush, I forgot to start the dishwasher. Sorry.

We purchased this "dream" cottage to be able to have a place close by to enjoy some leisure time, since we both work a lot of hours. One of my gifts is hospitality and my husband loves to fish, and we wanted to pass on that love and gift to others, so we decided to share our dream with you!

Our property is so special & unique. We stayed in a VRBO many years ago, at the suggestion of a family member. We realized that staying at a real home, was more than a vacation, it was almost like we experienced living in the areas we visited! Sometimes we were just as happy enjoying the home, as we were running all over being a tourist and sightseeing! We were definitely more rested at the end of a vacation, and now anywhere we travel, we find a home to stay in. When we bought our own little cottage, we decided the place we loved visiting the most was Hawaii! So we created a little dream cottage with Hawaiian touches everywhere. The peace and feeling of complete joy we get every time we are at our little cottage, with the Aloha spirit, is a gift we wanted to share! We hope you will fall in love with it too, and that it will replenish your spirits with that true vacation you need!

The peacefulness of being able to just jump on the aqua cycle and go out on the lake early in the morning, or as the sun sets. There are so many places you can go on Murphy Lake. You can ride around the whole lake, or just go find a cove, sit quietly and watch for beavers, herons, or eagles to come by. Catch fish right from the dock, or sit by the fire or read a book on the lanai. You won't want to go anywhere, but if you do, the charming antique stores in Millington are close by, or the most desired vacation spot in Michigan, Frankenmuth, little Bavaria, with something fun happening EVERY weekend all year long!
