Shore Haven is 7 secluded acres and 600 feet of shoreline. It is accessed by a long driveway. Two chalets with two bedrooms each and a three bedroom Cape are also on the property at a distance from Overlook and are available for rental.

Overlook is perched above Frenchman Bay. Broad commanding views. Eagles, deer and Loons are common sightings. It is a spacious Post & beam home with an open concept living room/dining room with a cathedral ceiling, and ceiling to floor, wall to wall windows facing bay. Access to stony beach is steps from door. Great WiFi, line phone. Kitchen well equipped . 4 spacious, comfy bdrms, plus fold out couch. 3 full baths, screened in porch, spacious deck, washer, dryer. Up to 10 people. 2,300 sq ft

Overlook is sunny and airy, post & beam construction. There are fantastic views from almost every room. You'll enjoy the relaxing, well appointed, open concept living room/dining room, with a cathedral ceiling and a wall of windows facing the bay. If music adds to your enjoyment, there is a Sonos system for wireless streaming. Or, connect your Ipod to the receiver.

Overlook has a sunny, spacious, wraparound deck facing the bay for bbqs and hanging out. There is also a screened in porch for dining and relaxing. Gas and charcoal grills and a gas outdoor heater for chilly evenings are available for your use. . Great WiFi, line phone. The kitchen is well equipped (enjoy the cappuccino maker) for those who love to cook. There are four spacious, comfy bedrooms, plus fold out couch.

The master bedroom has a small work space and its own private balcony. Three full baths, a washer and dryer. Up to 10 people. 2,300 sq ft. Smart TVs in all the bedrooms, some w/ DVD.

We had a wonderful six night stay in early October. Three generation family and we all agreed, it was the nicest VRBO stay we have ever had. Great house - great location. The communication with the host prior and during the visit was thorough and helpful. The house is really well laid out with a large common area and a great porch to gather. Great accessibility to Acadia. Cannot recommend highly enough

The property location was very nice. Easy drive to everything on the island but remote at the same time. The sunrises are amazing. Plenty of room and comfortable for 8 people. Well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Peter was always available, check in was easy. Driveway is quite steep, I recommend having a 4 wheel dive car if you plan on staying here.

The view off the back porch and the overall charm of the property makes this place special! We saw seals everyday while sitting in the back porch. At night you get a great clear view of the stars! We had everything we could need available to us! With Acadia and bar harbor just a short drive away it makes this house a home run!

Peaceful and Serene

This is an incredible property in a pristine location. Peter is a 5-star host--absolutely the best. Everything about our stay was perfect. You are near everything on MDI and yet completely secluded. There is really no need to leave the house! The deck is the perfect place to soak in the calm and peacefulness that are abundant just out the back door. The kitchen is terrific for meal prep and we loved having dinner in the screened-in porch. Can't recommend this strongly enough!

Beautiful house and surroundings, great host

The house was a wonderful post and beam design with lots of windows. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and is surrounded by nature. We saw deers and fawns, otters and several bald eagles, one of which would sit in a tree 50 ft from the house. It was easy to get to Bar Harbor and the park as well as local grocery stores and restaurants. All around great place and vacation spot. We were lucky to catch a beautiful sunrise at the house and sunset from Cadillac Mountain and also experience two nice cool foggy hikes. Now back home and 95 degrees we wish we could have stayed longer!

This rental absolutely lived up to its high rating. The location couldn’t be better—just minutes from the park entrance, yet the cabin felt private and secluded. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, and the views were truly stunning.We loved the digging for mussels down at the beach (delicious!) and found the kitchen to be well-equipped for cooking. Peter was communicative and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire stay.Our only (very minor) issue was that the tap water had a strong metallic taste, so we ended up buying bottled water during our stay. Definitely not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning.Overall, a wonderful experience—our family would happily stay here again!

Great Fall Getaway

Great host and location

The house is clean. Kitchen is fully stocked, including non-sticky pots that look new. The view is great, close to all hiking trails and restaurants. Peter is kind and committed to meeting the needs.

Christmas thru New Years stay

Great place. Beautiful location. Sipping coffee and watching the sun come up over Frenchman’s Bay is a phenomenal way to start the day. Peter is a super nice and communicative host. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Even in the winter!

Great house

What a beautiful house! Peter was a great host. Since the weather was terrible, it was great to have a comfortable place to connect as a family. Our dogs enjoyed the porch and the deck as much as we did!

Family Trip to Remember!

Our family trip to Acadia was a huge success! How can you go wrong, though, with a beautiful national park and such a wonderful house to come back to each afternoon/evening! The location of the house was fantastic for all of our exploring. Views from the deck for sunrise and to watch the seals, dolphins, and eagles, were simply divine! Peter was great in his communication with us and ensuring that our trip was excellent! Couldn't have asked for more!

I first came to Maine and Mt. Desert Island as an 18 year old bound for a year long volunteer assignment at Our School in Robbinston, about 100 miles east of MDI. That is when I fell in love with the land and seascapes of Maine, its natural beauty, its powerful seasons (if you haven't discovered Maine in Winter, maybe now is the time), and its rich heritage. Over the years, I returned often to Acadia and Downeast for family vacations.

This year, after a long, tedious search for a place to buy and enjoy and after several frustrations, I found Shore Haven, although it wasn't called that at the time. It was love a first sight. Its unsurpassed natural setting and extraordinary access to all the amenities of MDI, not to mention all of Downeast and the interior as well, was strong attraction for me. In addition, Shore Haven's house (Overlook) and two chalets (Spruce and Birch) offered the opportunity of welcoming others to enjoy MCI the same way that I do with my family and friends. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I hope the Maine coast enchants you the way is does me. Relax, have fun, soak up the atmosphere. Welcome to Shore Haven.
