Ski straight from your back door to the high-speed lift on Moose Mountain, or ride the gondola for breathtaking vistas of Superior National Forest and the lake. Year-round North Shore adventures await for all ages!

This standout Poplar Ridge Home offers five spacious bedrooms across three levels, perfect for groups up to 15—ideal for multiple families craving their own space. Plus, enjoy exclusive access to the Main Resort Lodge’s indoor/outdoor pools, fitness rooms, and more.

Why Hibernation House Rocks:
Main Level: Fully stocked kitchen, soaring two-story great room with smart TV, cable, and gas fireplace. Step onto your private deck for mountain and Lake Superior views. Master suite shines with its own fireplace, jacuzzi, en-suite bath, and private deck.
Upper Level: King bedroom with mountain vistas and en-suite bath, a bunk room with queen + two twins (vaulted ceilings = cool factor), full bath, and a kids’ play zone.
Walkout Lower Level: Living room with fireplace, bar, kitchenette, private queen bedroom, log bunk (single over double), twin sleeper sofa, and laundry with free washer/dryer. Sleeps 7 down here alone!

What a perfect setting in the woods and close to everything ie. Lutsen and Grand Marais. A few initial small glitches; however, Mr. Smothers was MORE than accommodating especially given it was Thanksgiving day. Pool was closed; however, the public pool in Grand Marais was open. A setting were several quiet walks with family was very relaxing and therapeutic! I HIGHLY recommend THE HIBERNATION HOUSE!

Hibernation House, is a spacious and well stocked 5 bedroom townhome. The unit could be 3 separate units. Which provided some confusion at arrival. We rented it as a 5 bedroom unit. Which meant we had 3 entry doors and 3 parking spots right in front. The on site pictures are very true to the layout and amenities, much appreciated! A tip for those that enjoy the early morning sun, select the 1st floor master or the top floor bedroom with the 3 beds. Peter was super helpful and responsive. He checked in when we arrived and returned all of my msg very promptly.

Family ski trip

Hibernation House was a great place to stay. Had plenty of room for all 11 of us. Some skied, some just hung out at the house and everyone was happy. Would certainly recommend it.

Location!!

Our group was 3 families - 6 adults and 6 kids. This was a great space for our group - and the location is fabulous. Beautiful view of Moose Mountain and you can hear the Poplar river when you're outside or the windows are open. Plus, it's an easy hike down to the river, or over to the mountain. The space was clean and well- maintained, and our group really enjoyed our stay.

Pleasant stay

The property was clean and as described. We had a moose walk by the basement door/window which created a lot of excitement. We also saw a black bear walking away from the trash cans. The beds were comfortable and the showers had plenty of hot water. It was a great stay.

Wonderful house for a large party!

I wanted to bring my family to the North Shore for years, to show them where I grew up. Our stay at the Hibernation House was magical, and the space was perfect for several adult children and families. It’s beautiful, clean, in a perfect location to explore the North Shore. The beds were very comfortable, the decks a perfect spot to gather, and we used all of the fire places when the weather got cool. Peter was a perfect host, responding to our questions and needs immediately. We may not be back for awhile, but will definitely stay here again!

Nice Stay In Lutsen

Hibernation House is a very comfortable, inviting property that my two daughters, son-in-law and two grandchildren enjoyed this August. We had a lot of room to spread out and enjoy, with great gathering spaces for dinners, games and conversations. The kitchen was very well equipped with the essentials for making meals, and the bedrooms were extremely comfortable - everyone was well rested and ready for the hikes, swimming, shopping and sightseeing that the North Shore offers. This was our second trip to Caribou Highlands and Hibernation House did not disappoint.
