Starflower Cottage- Vintage Charm on the Lake

Welcome to Starflower Cottage! Vintage charm meets modern amenities at Starflower Cottage on Kangaroo Lake. Knotty pine walls, cozy corners to curl up with a book, and a gas fireplace for chilly nights on the lake. 3 beds, 2 baths and many modern updates make for a comfortable stay. The lake is great for swimming and the cottage comes with kayaks, a SUP, and water access directly on the property. Grill and firepit for outdoor fun and Baileys Harbor is just 5 minutes away. Tons of restaurants, coffee shops, hiking, and wineries nearby. Relax and unwind at this beautiful retreat. Please note, the dock is in over the summer months, but installation and removal is weather dependent. Also, we have moved the TV to the primary bedroom as we don’t spend much time watching tv while we are there, but you are welcome to move it as you see fit!

This was a perfect getaway location for our summer Wisconsin adventure. The location to everything in Door county was perfect and super convenient. Being on Kangaroo Lake was also a bonus. The fire pit was amazing and the landscaping created such a charming atmosphere. The cottage was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We hope to be back to experience more of what Door County has to offer.

This place was so adorable. It's the perfect place to spend our 4th of July weekend. The house was super clean and the view of the lake was amazing. The shoreline is rocky, but the lake itself is super smooth and sandy if you are swimming off the dock. I totally recommend staying here.

Part of me wishes this house were kept a secret. It’s so special. If you do rent it, please treat it well! Most families who rent out a long-held dreamy home remove all of their beautiful things. Here, the dishes, silverware, blankets, and water-play gear are all top-notch. Please, please let’s all reward the family by being gentle with their gorgeous vacation home.

Amazing get away

We had an amazing stay. Location was wonderful, and cannot beat the location on the lake. Home was very clean and spacious, and loved the kayaks! Would definitely book again

Great location to explore Door County from!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at Starflower Cottage. The view of the lake was lovely from the porch while we played card and dice games between exploring all that Door County had to offer. Bailey's Harbor is small but offers several nice restaurants to choose from. We especially enjoyed Inland, which surprised us with fantastic pizza and salads.

Darling cottage on the lake

A wonderful week long stay in Door County. The house is beautiful and charming with many high end appliances and touches. Hosts were very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any concerns we had.

Perfect place to relax

This place is great. Doesn’t even feel like you’re in Door County yet a short drive to most major towns. We fished, grilled, and had many fire pit fires. Great relaxing time!!

Great stay!

We really enjoyed this property for the 4 of us, including our two children, age 17 and 16. Right on the water on Kangaroo Lake - clear / clean / tons of fun. The cabin itself was fully stocked and functional. We hope to be back in 2025 pending college plans!

Peaceful setting for Family Fun

This was a mother/daughter get away that we thoroughly enjoyed. We were looking for a quiet, low stress mini break and Starflower cottage delivered! This home gave us a perfect central spot to see all that Door County offers vacationers. Plus a kayaking afternoon in tranquil Kangaroo lake with kayaks included with the rental. Perfect!

Perfect location to chill and relax at the cottage, kayak, swim in the beautifully clear lake, or run into town for shopping and eats! We will be back!

4 ladies in our 60's had a terrific time. Lovely cottage, extremely well appointed. Very close to so much, and a lovely view of the very clear lake. Great winery( Stone's Throw) fun shopping. Very relaxing.

Awesome stay in Door County

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our door county vacation at starflower cottage. Everyone agreed that the best days of the trip were the days spent on the lake swimming, kayaking, paddle board, fire pit and cooking. The cottage has everything you need and the location can't be beat. Liz and Andy are great hosts. We hope to come back soon.

Great time.

It is a really nice property and the owners obviously put a lot into it. Love the space. Comfortable furniture. Plenty of room. Kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking pans and gadgets. We were very pleased. Great location. All in all we all had a wonderful time.

Great stay

The house is beautiful and has all the amenities one would need for a stay. There was a lovely view of the lake. The house is spacious, clean and well put together. There were 2 types of coffee machines and coffee provided, lots of pots and pans. There was also a washer and dryer. We stayed with our 2 teenagers and they liked the house too.

Nice place to stay in Central Door County

This was a nice house on an inland lake in Door County; perfect for a family of 5 to have a full house to relax in for a week. Resorts/hotels often don't offer enough space for a family to relax. The home is located near Bailey's Harbor, so it was easy to get to the locations to do things around the peninsula. The house was clean and in good shape and the beds were comfy.

Perfect lake house vacation

The place was very beautiful in a quite Kangaroo lake front location. The location was so beautiful and the lake was not deep in front of the property and perfect for swimming, kayaking with kids and other family members. Also the place comes ready with life vests, kayaks, grill and every thing you need in a lake house. Communication with Liz was excellent. Would definitely book again in the future.

Great time on the lake

Excellent home, very well appointed (the owners have gone to great lengths to provide just about anything you need). Kayaks and paddle board are great to use on a pretty calm lake. Your about five minutes from Bailey's Harbor, while the rest of the towns are within easy reach. Restaurants are close, as are zip lines and various recreational tours. We will be back!! Brad K.

Lovely home, great location

Home was comfortable and our hosts were very responsive! Cooked most dinners at the house and the kitchen had what we needed, including good knives, which is often hit or miss at rentals. Gas grill is in great condition and very clean as well. Neighborhood is family friendly and was quiet during our stay. Loved having the kayaks and SUP. Having garage available to keep bikes was a plus as well. The landscaping in the yard was amazing and really showcased the beauty of the surrounding nature. Plenty of things to do within in a short drive. Thanks to Liz and Andy for a great stay!

A True Delight

An absolutely delightful place to stay. So many spacious, comfortable places to hang out with gorgeous sunset views of the lake. The owners obviously put a lot of thought into making sure that everything you might need is on hand, and open so many niceties up to guests including tons of games and toys and floats and boats available for endless fun on the lake and in the house. So many interesting plants and trees in a beautifully cared-for garden and gorgeous landscaping for a great taste of the unique Door County ecology. Cool breezes, lots of lawn, no bugs. Just delightful in every way. The house is way more spacious and comfortable than the pictures capture, with vaulted ceilings and skylights and high-quality modern appliances, but still keeps a lot of the original peculiar, delightful charm of the house. My favorite luxury was a skylight in the vaulted ceiling over the master toilet, for some late-night stargazing :D My only small (non-)criticism is that the pictures just don't do it justice. An absolutely perfect stay.
