Firefly House - Comforts of home across from beach/campground

Welcome to Firefly House! Centrally located in Grand Marias, this one-story home is located less than 200 yards from the southern shore of Lake Superior and right across the street from the campground and snowmobile trail. Relax with friends and family in this spacious home, with plenty of room for seven. Gather around the electric fireplace and get cozy! Games, books, and puzzles, along with a video library and cable TV are provided. 

Firefly House sleeps seven. The master bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom has one queen-size bed and one twin, and the third bedroom has a double bed. There are two bathrooms; one with a stand-up shower and the other with a full bath/tub shower. The kitchen/dining area is bright and cheerful with a mudroom leading out to the large backyard. Outdoors you will find a charcoal grill, fire ring, and outdoor seating perfect for the summer months. A big driveway leaves plenty of room for toys and vehicles. 

Relax and settle in for an amazing stay!

Other Taxes & Fees: 6% State Use Tax apply, as well as a one-time non-taxed cleaning fee of $110. Three-night minimum required.

its in a great location, we went looking for yooper lights had an amazing time. good location of seeing many different sights. it was my first at booking this property we totally enjoyed our stay.

Very nice home.

Very nice home. Has everything you need in kitchen, etc. Instructions on how to stream on one tv in home easy to follow. Very clean. Nice large outdoor patio area and back lawn with firepit and lawn furniture. Location is great. Quiet neighborhood across street from campground on Lake Superior. Three minute drive from downtown Grand Marais. Only drawback and strictly my personal preference - too much nice antique furniture in hallway, etc., and knick knacks on most surface tops. Takes up lots of room and not as spacious and user ftiendly as house could be. Not a big deal as only two of us. I would definitely rent again and give 5 star rating.

Great getaway location

Feels like camping without being outdoors as you can see campers out the front window. Cute town with nice shops and restaurants. Great location close to beach access. Very comfortable home with privacy in the back.

I used VRBO but host didn't?

I booked six months ahead for this trip. The payment due dates came and went, and no payments were deducted. I didn't receive check-in instructions either, so I tried to reach out to the host repeatedly in the days leading up to the trip. Customer service put me in touch with her the day of check-in and she informed me she had emailed me instructions directly instead of using the app, because she doesn't use VRBO? I found them in my Junk folder. We arrived at the house after dark and according to the emailed instructions we were to enter the house with a code. We couldn't find any device or lockbox to enter a code, and miraculously a back door was unlocked. We found a key inside on the counter. After checkout, we were charged a different amount than the VRBO total. It was less, so that's one thing I won't complain about... but it wasn't what I was expecting. Experience was weird and not the usual VRBO experience.

Grand Marais Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Firefly House. The location is very convenient for exploring the entire UP. The house is exactly as depicted on VRBO. The kitchen has every thing you could possibly need, and the washer and dryer were an added bonus. The king bed was very comfortable, as well as the living room furniture.We didn’t use the other beds. It was also very quiet, even though the campground is right across the street. A good choice for a UP vacation.

Great Place to Stay in a Beautiful Town

This home is clean and well stocked. It was perfect for my Sons and I to base from for our many fishing excursions. We slept well with the beds being comfortable. This is a home that we would recommend and hope to stay at again ourselves!

Kayaking the Two Hearted River

We had a wonderful stay. We kayaked the Two Hearted River, took a pontoon boat to see Picture Rocks and did a lot of hiking. I saw a gray wolf swim across the river. What a sight. We didn't spend a lot of time at the home but it was a wonderful place to return to. We had a nice camp fire our first night and made dinner on the grill the second night. We really enjoyed looking at all the art work on the walls that coincided with the area and there was a nice surprise on one of the closet doors (you have to see if for yourself). There was a lot of cool antique furniture. I loved the fireplace and wish I could find one like it. Thank you for everything. If we return to the area, this will be the first place I look at for accommodations.

Pictured Rocks get away!

This is a cozy, clean property that feels like home! The people of the UP and especially Grand Marias, are friendly and helpful! The property was very clean, the bed and linens were very comfortable.

Great off season location

This was a great location for an October visit - campground across the street was completely empty. Trails and beaches were quiet and it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves. Property manager did not answer any of my emails and fireplace is not really a fireplace, it's just a heater with digital flames. That was really disappointing as we were expecting a nice wood burning fire to sit by after long days out in the cold weather. Otherwise the property was clean and comfortable.

Great location!

If you like being near the beach as well as in town this is the perfect place. We walked to the lighthouse and around town multiple times and to our favorite ice cream shop ! Comfortable living room area with a large window to view the activity at the campground. Everything we needed and more! Carl G
