The house was spectacular for our large group. It is in a great location on Pickerel Lake and is just a 15-minute drive from Otter Tail Lake and its bars, restaurants, and golf courses. There is plenty of parking space. There’s also a beautiful lakefront area with plenty of space for yard games.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at this VRBO property! From the moment we arrived, everything was exactly as described—if not better. The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and stocked with all the essentials (and more). The beds were incredibly comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the living areas were cozy and welcoming. The host was fantastic: responsive, friendly, accommodating and made check-in/check-out a breeze. This property truly felt like a home away from home. We wouldn't hesitate to book again and highly recommend it to anyone.

Amazing property and hosts!!

This large home is on a beautiful lake, is in great shape, and the hosts are not only great to work with, but they keep working to improve it. Highly recommend!!

Family Vacation

Wonderful stay at the Lake Retreat! The host was quick to respond and assist. We stayed with a big family and all had space and a place to sleep, everything was provided. Would definitely consider this cabin again in the future!

Great house for a large family

We all had a great week stay. Loved the house and do much to do. Even when it rained we found activities we could do in the garage with our large group. Beach area is amazing. Well furnished only need to bring food and beach towels. We were all sad to leave, but planning to come back!

A corporate team retreat

Five stars! This space worked fabulous for our event. The large room in basement worked perfect for our meeting. Bedrooms with en suites were comfortable and provided privacy and made the stay comfortable for a large group. Will be back!

Best wedding location

We had a wedding this weekend. The house was more than we expected. There was plenty of room for us with bedrooms and bathrooms spread apart so none of us felt crowded. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Everything was clearly marked so we didn’t have to guess at anything. There was also lots for the younger kids and adults alike to do. The lake is beautiful. Perfect spot and will rent again.

Exceptional Experience

Shady Nook Lake Retreat was the perfect retreat for our large group of 20. The home was cozy and spacious with plenty of amenities to keep guests of all ages entertained. Majority of the group spent most of the time on the beach and in the game room enjoying various activities and games. Pam was a fantastic host and very responsive. Everyone loved the place and wished to stay longer. We would definitely considering staying here again.

From the moment we arrive we were blown away at the size and the cozy, friendly ambiance this home gave us. The home was very clean and thoughtfully stocked; it is truly the best-equipped vacation rentals I’ve ever stayed in. Everything is well labeled so we knew which light switch was for which light ( which is very helpful in the size of the house) We thought the room names were a fun twist. We had one rainy day and we were not lacking in entertainment with all the games, pool table, and ping pong. The homeowners just elevated the rental procedure. Th yea were informative, responsive, and overall just very kind people. They replied or promptly and went above and beyond in all our inquiries. They wanted to make sure our stay was comfortable. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests having an amazing experience. Can’t wait to go back next year.

Everything was lovely!

This home is amazing! There is so much space and it is beautifully kept. Many rentals do not have enough dishware or cooking supplies to feed the number of people they hold but this home goes above and beyond on the kitchen supplies. Our family enjoyed all the games and space to relax as well. We stayed during the cold season so did not get outside to enjoy the property but the area is peaceful and quiet. The owners were very helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out of rooms, and check in/check out was very easy.

The Shady Nook!

My friends and I can’t say enough great things about The Shady Nook! First of all, Pam gave such great & clear info prior to arrival regarding amenities to house & check in process! She answered any question I had during the stay within 10 minutes & was overall incredibly accommodating! The house & view were BEAUTIFUL! We couldn’t believe how spacious it was & how many bathrooms it had! (That is KEY when you put 25 girls together for a weekend). The hangout spots were perfect & the bedrooms were tucked far enough away that when some guests wanted to go to sleep early they couldn’t even hear the rest of the group! (Again hard to accomplish with a group of girls that big haha).. 10/10 recommend the shady nook for your large group stay! Would love to come back here some day! Thank you Pam!

Family vacation 2022

Great property!! The floor plan was great . There could be several games going on at the same time and everyone still felt like we were together yet not on top of one another. The bedrooms were equipped with great mattresses and air mattress if needed. I can't say enough about the kitchen!! We take this family vacation every year and I always have to cart along half of my own kitchen. I did this year too but did not have to unpack it. Plenty of tableware for the whole family and LOTS of large pans to accommodate cooking for the number of people the house holds. Pam was very easy to work with and answered our questions promptly and thoroughly. Her decor has a way of saying welcome without her being there. She even had the Christmas tree up!! Plenty of space outside for us to park vehicles and snowmobiles as well. Easy access to the lake and backyard also. We had the Great Grandma's along and they were able to see the lake and all the activity from the house if they were cold or not wanting to come out. The property is new to Kevin and Pam and we could tell some parts were a work in progress but did not feel like we were in a construction zone!! We are already talking about returning next year.

Family Fun

We had an awesome time at this property. Pam is awesome. She did not forget any necessities. Plenty of dishes, pots and pans for large cookouts. The pictures do not do this house justice. It is beautiful. The area is awesome. The lake is beautiful. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were decorated beautifully. The kitchen is perfect for large gatherings. It was 18 of us and we had more than enough room. Some bedrooms we did not even have to use. Pam was very quick to answer any questions I had. I love that the cabinets in the kitchen are labeled to make it easy for you to use. So many personal touches. Coffee, extra linen and a plethora of throws. The garage is huge! It was cold so we stayed indoors and the kids had plenty of room to play in the garage. She also supplied games for all ages. I could go on and on at how awesome this property is. Just book it and you will see! We will definitely be going back next year for our family staycation!

Great Home for a Group Event

We stayed for 4 days at this wonderful property and the house was incredible. We had a team meeting in the basement rec center, Dinner every night at the large table for 12, a great kitchen to cook in, and plenty of beds for everyone. Pam was amazing to work with and we will be coming back next year!

Enjoyed our weekend

We had a great time staying here. Everything was clean and really easy to find thanks to labels throughout the house. We had plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. The owners have been updating the interior of the house, and we were all really pleased with the quality of these updates. Our group will be returning for another weekend, this house was perfect for our needs!

Beautiful Lake Home

This property was amazing!!! It was so spacious! Big enough for the teenagers to have their own space and the toddlers to run around. All the room sizes were perfect. They all accommodated each little family perfectly. I liked that Pam provided extra linen for the huge house. I was also afraid that we wouldn't have enough towels but we did. The kitchen was nicely stocked with a good variety of pots, pans and bowls we needed. It was chilly when we were there but I would definitely consider renting again in the summertime so the kids can fully enjoy the lake! Thanks for being an awesome host!!!
