There's a particular kind of quiet that settles in on the east side of Traverse City, where Gold Coast Inn looks out over Grand Traverse Bay. This top-floor lake view room catches it fully — calming decor, soft light, and a view of the water that changes with the hour. It's a modern, self-check-in boutique hotel built for travelers who want ease without losing the feeling of being somewhere special.

A comfortable queen bed anchors the room, with a Roku TV, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker for the small comforts of home. Free parking, fast WiFi, and complimentary access to Iron House Gym are included, and the Traverse Area Recreation Trail runs right out the back door.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, summer weekends bring complimentary wine and charcuterie on the shared balcony as the sun goes down over the bay.

What is not explained in the room details is the fact the property bedroom is located facing the noises road in Traverse City. That fact that the property management knows this because they place ear plugs on the night stands for people to use so they can sleep. The room and property description is not accurate and leads you to believe you're getting more bang for your buck. The private kitchen is a microwave, a very mini fridge and the sink also serves as bathroom sink. Additionally, there is a picture of kitchen but its a common area kitchen and dining area shared with everyone else on your floor. So we did not stay and found a better place. Would not recommend.

Worried at check-in, but then good

The information for how to check in was very confusing and we were unable to get in. When we called the number, they gave us the wrong information assuming we were a different customer. Not knowing that at the moment, we received a text from them right away it was written to a different person so I was able to identify the problem for why we could not get in. We called them back and we’re giving all different codes to get in the building and within 20 to 30 minutes we were in our room, but running late for the wedding we were supposed to attend
