When headed out for a beach day, there are no busy main roads to cross, making carrying beach gear and kids to the beach a breeze! Despite being off of the main road (Hwy 12), Summersalt is centrally located in a way that makes a day of shopping and sightseeing easy to plan. If you find yourself needing a break from the sun & the sand, just a quick thirty-minute drive south and you will find yourself immersed in the rich Outer Banks History at the Wright Brothers Memorial. Continuing further south, you will find the expansive Manteo Aquarium complete with indoor and outdoor exhibits featuring our beloved Sea Turtle rehabilitation center and spotlighting different species of our native wildlife. For the fisherman in your party, head down to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. At the end of a long day of fishing, the Captain tosses their "catch of the day" on the dock. Onlookers only have a few moments to admire the bounty of the fishing trip before the fish are whisked away only to be served later that day in our local seafood restaurants.
