Our unit is a privately owned hotel room located in the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort and Spa.

This is a beautiful second floor unit with a view of the park and ocean behind it. Comfortable king bed with chaise lounge and balcony.

The Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort and Spa is a beautiful Hawaiian plantation-style resort located on 25 acres of lush Garden Isle, centrally located between Kauai’s south and north shores, making it perfect for your island adventures. Only minutes from the airport, Costco, Walmart and Shopping. You will go thru a tree canopy lined drive that leads to the resort. Several acres of beach front property to enjoy and explore. On property there are four swimming pools, complete with water falls, a poolside cabana bar and grill, two jacuzzies, fitness center and day spa. Paradise will be your back yard!

RESORT AMENITIES
• 4 swimming pools, including 2 lagoon pools, 75-ft lava tube slide, & kid-friendly sand bottom pool.
• Two whirlpool spas, one amidst a stone grotto and surrounded by lush ferns and an exotic waterfall.
• Three restaurants on site.
• "Take-Out" service available from the restaurant
• Poolside Driftwood Bar and Grill
• Free Wi-Fi access in lobby, restaurants, and the pool areas.

PARKING
• $40/day parking fee paid directly to Kauai Beach Resort at check-in.

CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT POLICY
• Check-in time is 4:00 PM / Check-out time is 11:00 AM.
Check in procedure:
Simply check in at the front desk with your name and booking info.

HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES
• Please note that daily maid service is not included when renting direct through VRBO. The cleaning fee included in your payment to VRBO covers cleaning/re-stocking the room after your stay.
If you would like a mid-stay cleaning (maid service) for your room it is $65 each cleaning.

As Private Unit guest you have full access to the pools, whirlpool spas, the grounds, the beach, the business center, the restaurants, the lounge, the poolside bar, live music, the fitness room, coin laundry access and the Hawaiian Rainforest Spa.

By renting via VRBO you avoid paying the $25 per day resort fee charged by Kauai Beach Resort. However, the Hawaiian Cultural classes, which include classes like Hula and Lei Making are not included as part of your stay.

FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THIS CONDO OR A HOTEL ROOM?
Both. The resort was previously a Hilton hotel, the units are just like hotel rooms. However, they are privately owned “condotels”. The resort operates much like a hotel, and most guests are not aware that the units are privately owned. Most of the units are offered to the public through the resort or through travel sites at much higher retail prices. Although, a few are offered on VRBO at owner rates with access to the resort’s amenities.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RENTING ON VRBO vs. THE RESORT
The $$$ price and also maid service. Renting direct through VRBO saves you a lot of money. However, daily maid service is not included. The cleaning fee you pay when booking takes care of cleaning and restocking the unit after your stay.

DOES THE UNIT HAVE A KITCHEN?
No. They do not have kitchens they were previously hotel rooms.

ARE WE ABLE TO COOK IN THE UNIT?
No. Local fire ordinances do not allow cooking in any of the rooms. The resort has a microwave in the lounge area on the 5th floor of Building 2 that can be used by all guests.
WHAT IS THE RESORT’S BEACH LIKE?
The resort is located on a 3-mile stretch of beautiful beach, amazing for long walks. The beach is very scenic but, is not considered a swimmable beach as it has a decent amount of coral. The surf is also unpredictable. It's best is to go to some of Kauai's many famous beaches for swimming. Lydgate Beach park is a nearby beach that is good for swimming.

SHOULD I GET A CAR?
We recommend that you have a rental car. The resort has most everything you need to have a wonderful time and relax. A car will allow you to experience many popular attractions, buying groceries, and going to many amazing restaurants etc. If you want a car for a day or two there is an on-site Hertz car rental agency. The rates are higher but it is an option for a short rental.

IS THERE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT?
No. The shuttle service from the airport is not available to our guests. The resort does offer free shuttle service to/from the airport for guests who book through the resort. Kauai Beach Resort is close the airport which make taxi prices more reasonable. Uber also operates on the island!

ARE THERE BEACH TOWELS TO TAKE TO THE BEACH?
Your stay includes 4 pool/beach towels.

DOES THE RESORT CHARGE A RESORT FEE?
Private owner guests are not required to pay the $25 daily resort fee.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DAILY PARKING FEE?
Yes, if you have a car the resort charges $40 /day for parking. This fee is paid by the guest to the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort at check-in.

DO I GET FREE WI-FI INTERNET SERVICE?
YES! Wi-Fi is FREE in all the units. The signal extends into the lobby, restaurants, bars and in the pool area!

DOES THE UNIT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?
Yes. The unit has central A/C.

The property was great - location required a car rental which I didn't realize beforehand.. we had a really nice time... I do think a SMART TV should be in each room, as well as a coffee pot that I can actually go to the store and get coffee packs for.. like a KEURIG.... also.... an inexpensive microwave would have helped a lot.... the fridge was nice.

Great location and accommodating host

We were delighted with the communication with the host. They accommodated some special requests we had and were very timely in their response. Room was comfortable and property is beautiful!

30th anniversary trip

Overall we had a wonderful and relaxing time in kauai. The property manager Crystal was very responsive to any need we had. The property was beautiful. We walked for miles every morning on the beach all the way into Kapa'a- it was pristine and very quiet. The room was nice and the bed was very comfy. The restaurant on site had very good food.

Beautiful scenery but unclear, unmaintained property kept us out and exploring

Kauai is amazingly beautiful and has so much to offer, we still had a wonderful trip, but the room we had was not really up to expectations. The room was dirty, the table on the balcony had old food residue, there was a very large cockroach that came in and hung out with us on a bath towel we were using, (RIP, toilet funeral), and every metal object was slightly rusty, including door jams and vents. Again, Kauai is amazing, and I'd love to return, but this particular room wasn't well kept.

Great location and awesome pools

I'd like to start off by saying that Crystal, the host, was awesome and very responsive. She gets 5 stars. The resort: Great location. You can go either direction on car since this is around the middle area of the island i would say. Plenty of parking @ $25/day. Resort has 3 big pools and a small one for kids. One of the pools next to the bar, has a slide that drops into the pool. Having a bar next to the pool was Awesome! They make the best Mai Tai's I've ever had, hands down! 2 jacuzzi's. The courtyard is big and looks really nice. There's 2 restaurants. The room: Room was very outdated. But i guess matches the price. All good since we spent most of our day outside anyway. Bed, let me say that at home, i have a tempurpedic King mattress and still wake up with a sore back. First night i slept on the rooms bed, i knew I was going to have better nights sleep cuz i woke up with no pain at all!! The whole week was like that until i got back home. I should've taken a picture of the mattress brand. Seriously! I bet the mattress was far less expensive than my 6k mattress. Sure do miss that mattress now. We had have ants in the room. Not much, but I probably should've reported it to Crystal but i didn't. We just dealt with them and made sure the room was clean all week. But ants were still around. Room faced away from the beach and pool, although you could see the beach on the left outside your balcony. Aside from the ants, we enjoyed our stay here. We would stay here again for sure.

Good location except beach area disappointing

Disappointed that there wasn’t a microwave and really needed a full size coffee maker. Beach was not user friendly…..but that’s not your fault….just didn’t know that from your VRBO add. Towels could really be replaced. Beach towel small and stiff. Room towels a little better. Enjoyed the resort dining room. Thank you.

Not as Expected

This property was a ocean view hotel room at the Kauai Beach Resort and Spa. First, ocean view is kind of a stretch. The ocean is a long distance from the room. The room actually overlooks a grass field. The beach is unswimmable. It’s both rocky and has a very strong current. Check in was easy, as you check in at the resort front desk. Parking is a long walk from your room. If you have the misfortune of coming into the resort later in the evening, you will walk 1/4 mile from your car to your room. I definitely would not recommend this property if you have any mobility issues. The room was a bit dated and in need of some repairs: missing tiles in the closet, peeling paint, older furnishings. My husband and I were there for 4 nights and we were provided 3 bath towels and 4 beach for our entire stay. After communicating with the host, they agreed to provide 4 extra bath towels at no charge. As a VRBO renter, you are not able to use the resort towels or housekeeping services. It can make you feel a little like the “ugly stepchild” at times. The location of the resort is ideal for access to the airport and midway between the North and South Shores.

Nice but no as good as what I expected.

I was disappointed that my room was never cleaned and had a broken fridge left in the room. I asked for more coffee and was told hotel could supply it cause I was in a private room. Probably would not stay here again.

Central and Amenities (Covid policy 👎)

It is an awesome place to stay if you plan some time to enjoy the pools, water slide, and other amenities included at the resort. We did a morning sunrise yoga that was spectacular included for guests! For some reason a lot of eating places on Kauai close pretty early, so it was nice to have the resort restaurant, and it honestly wasn’t any more expensive than other restaurants on the island (we actually had breakfast there). It was a perfect location as we didn’t have to drive more than an hour to get to anywhere on the island. There were some airplanes you noticed, but they were not very disturbing. Luckily, the pools are NOT salt water, but are fresh water chlorinated pools (which was nice in contrast to being in the salty ocean). They do NOT have sand in them. Downsides of using through Vrbo, no linen/towel changes without paying extra, need to take out your own trash, and no kitchen/microwave of any kind. It is a hotel room without hotel services (except ones you never use, like TV cable; come on, I’m in Hawaii, I’m not going to watch TV). Overall, pretty amazing place to stay. Oh yeah, covid policy of Hawaii is as if there were never a vaccine created, and indoors to them means anywhere with a roof, so you may feel like you’re outside, but if there is a roof, they expect you to where a mask. The lobby of the hotel doesn’t have doors, so how can that be considered in-doors? It was great, I just felt like I was back in 2020, which was a time I hoped to never be reminded of.

Beautiful campus and grounds, welcoming staff, good food and music, numerous pools, three minutes from the airport and all the amenities of Lihue, easy in and out with well lit parking. We loved it and will definitely return.
