Not ideal for families with children
The property location was great. The condo is located near the beach access. The pool of much smaller than the picture portrayed and was really crowded, so it wasn't much fun for our children. There were rip current issues for Oak Island, so that added some additional stress since the beach does not have a lifeguard. The condo was just okay. When you open the cabinets they all smelled like mildew. We had to wash the dishes before using them. Some were grimy and others just smelled funny - probably from the mildew smell. A lot of the cookware needs to be replaced. The AC system was really loud, which made it hard to sleep at night. The management company was quick to respond to the AC issue, but ultimately there wasn't much that could be done to improve the sound issue. For the first 48 hrs the wifi wasn't working well, probably due to the storm. The management company arrived quickly and was able to troubleshoot and make it work better, but it still had limited range and wasn't always available in the bedrooms. The condo is promoted to accommodate up to 6 people, but it's not furnished for 6. The VRBO listing staid there was a king bed, which is not correct. There is a full, queen and two twin beds. The beds are very uncomfortable. If you are looking for a restful vacation with a good night sleep - this is not your place. Between the beds and the AC sound throughout the night, its hard to get a good night sleep. The living room only had one sofa that could fit three people. If you have more than 3, there is no extra seating and you will need to used the wicker dining room chairs, which aren't very comfortable. There are only 4 dining room chairs and two bar stools. If you are looking for things to do on a rainy day, you will need to drive a decent distance to find indoor activities for kids. Only the master bedroom has a small TV, the other two bedrooms did not have TVs - with the spotty Wifi this make is harder to use iPads for kids. They had to download their content since the wifi wasn't strong in the bedrooms. There was limited seating in the living room, so it made it hard for a family of 5 to spend time together watching a movie together. The outdoor furniture on the deck was smelly and need of replacement.
