Kitchen had dirty dishes so we pre-washed what we used and brought in disposable cutlery/plates/glasses. When speaking to host about this her reply was to say it was previous guests responsibilities and she couldn't be expected to check all the dishes. Formal dining room had dog poop with bugs. Found this the second day. Clean up was offered for the following morning. In the bathroom I had, the toliet would "burb" sending spew over the rim with each flush; cabinetry was dirty and the room's overall condition was shoddy. But most disturbing was issue of privacy/safety that wasn't noticed at first and went unmentioned by my guest who was to stay there. A portion of a bedroom has been divided off with a thin makeshift wall (wouldn't pass inspection). It didn't reach the ceiling and there were gaps in its panels. Through the gaps I could see a "sitting" area. By examining the outside of the house I determined it was entered via a sliding door. When the sheets in this room were removed, we found the bottom third to be stained. We reserved 3 nights for 5 of us with an additional 8 family members visiting for the final afternoon. There was no time from the time this bedroom issue came to light for us to schedule elsewhere for a place that could accommodate 4 bedrooms and space for a family gathering of our number. I now question the legitimacy of the reviews given the condition of the house. To have had the host address all the issues would have taken days and couldn't happen while being rented. Worst experience ever. We did leave it better than we found it. I do have pics if VRBO would like.
