Studio on the water's edge of Penn Cove

The studio is in a separate building from the main house in this little slice of paradise that is a part of Ebeys National Historic Reserve and is on a beach right at the water's edge of Penn Cove. Nature abounds on this unique property, with eagles, hawks, gulls, owls, herons, oyster catchers and so many other birds showing up on the shores. You will often spot harbor seals, and the occasional otter and orca, too. Whether you are looking for a romantic and peaceful escape from city life, or an active few days exploring the numerous state parks, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, boating, antiquing, wine tasting at nearby island wineries, tasting locally produced ales, getting fresh produce from local farms, enjoying the quaint town of Coupeville, there are many options. The studio has a stove and refrigerator, so you are able to prepare light meals. There is an outdoor, under cover picnic area. There is also a cedar hot tub and sauna available for use for an extra daily fee (usually included in quote, but is optional). This property falls into the rain shadow and is south facing, so we often see sunshine when a lot of the Pacific Northwest is under cloud cover or rain. Located a few minutes from the town of Coupeville, and with Oak Harbor a few minutes in the other direction, State parks nearby, this studio located in a rural private enclave right on the water offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Please note that either myself and my husband or a caretaker will almost always be staying in the main house during your stay, so if any issues arise, would be able to address them as soon as is feasible.

For a limited time, we are also offering a basement suite in the main house with a separate private entrance that has a kitchen and its own separate firepit area. See VRBO rental # 2989661. The availability is from December 12, 2025 to January 24, 2026.

My fiancé and I had a lovely stay at the studio. The space was clean and offered all of our necessities. It was amazing to wake up to beautiful sunrises over the water and walk our pup along the beach. The location was perfect - central to all of our excursions, and the hot tub was the best way to relax after a day of exploring the island.

The grounds and the studio were absolutely beautiful and the hosts were discreet yet so warm and inviting when we crossed paths! Such a cozy and perfect stay. We really enjoyed the location, the setting, and the hot tub! The space is cozy and perfect for a romantic getaway or location to spend some downtime. Whidbey Island is gorgeous and lots of great places to see. If you wanted to do a lot of cooking, this location may not be ideal because of the size. The host was very attentive and helpful.

I think the hot tub can be serviced for water cleanliness. I could not figure out how to change the temperature (how to lower it).The bathroom sink is the only sink in the studio so one thing good would be to replace the spigot with one that has a longer neck (goose neck type) to help with its use for cleaning Thank you!!

The hot tub and sauna were great! Beach view and walks on beach were perfect! Getting the kayak into the water could not have been easier. Weather was perfect!!We loved it and our dog loved it!Only one thing prevented a 5 star rating and that was my shower going cold after only 5 minutes but really was a 4.75 stars because every thing else was perfect!!!

Absolutely love this place! You are right on the water, in a strip of the coast that has very few people, the hosts are kind and respectful of privacy, and we would definitely stay here again. Do not expect to do much cooking, but that was a bonus for me! We enjoyed having breakfast here and bringing food in. The bed was very comfortable and we loved watching the moon rise over Penn cove from the adorable upper loft. A sweet pied a mare for two people!
Awesome covered porch with hot tub, bench and room to store our paddle boards.

Comfy and cute!

Lovely place to spend a couple of nights. We enjoyed walking the short beach and sitting in the hot tub. It’s a very cute, well appointed place, the bed is extremely comfortable!The chickens hanging out by the door made it somewhat treacherous to walk without being very careful where you step.

Perfect studio, amenities, and waterfront

This studio is a gem. It’s a perfect get away with a view that cannot be beat. I took my paddle board out every day. The hot tub and sauna are perfect after a dip in the water. I will be back.

Penn Cove Retreat

Loved sitting and walking on my private beach. Very peaceful and relaxing within the vicinity of an incredible local pier. I enjoyed the eagles including a golden as well as other abundant bird life. Perfectly located to eat in Coupeville or hike in the neighboring state park/beach

Peaceful Getaway

We had such a lovely, peaceful stay at this little island retreat. The beach was quiet and calm and we got to walk the beach and watch the wildlife all weekend (plus the live-in chicken & ducks!). The studio is literally right on the beach and has a wonderful view from the large front windows. The bed was comfy and the mini-fridge was big enough for the weekend. We played card games in the loft and watched cartoons on the flatscreen! The hot tub was wonderful, but we were unable to get the firepit lit (darn rain!). We were here in early April, so it was breezy and chilly outside. The radiator in the main part of the studio was great, but the bathroom heater wasn't able to keep up. There were only 2 small, very fixable negatives, which were the oven smoking and setting off the smoke alarm each time we turned it on-- a previous tenant must have spilled something in it. The 2nd was the shower getting cold much too quickly, like 5-10 minutes in, so we learned to take very fast showers! These didn't dampen our trip, though. It was still a quiet, lovely, picturesque, and magical stay! Lastly, the caretaker was very friendly, quiet, and allowed us plenty of privacy.

My husband John and I moved here in November, 2021 and feel incredibly lucky to call this wonderful property on the water's edge of Penn Cove our home. We have another property we have been renting out in California for over ten years now on VRBO, so are very familiar with the requirements of what makes happy renters. We love to create space that is inviting and comfortable and pleasing to the eye. We look forward to sharing our little slice of heaven with you.

Location, location, location. No nearby neighbors and right on the water in a reserve. A few minute's drive to towns and shopping and also state parks. Relaxing and calm with a very comfortable interior, it is a wonderful place to unwind from city life.
