Cottage On The Canal - An All Seasons Getaway - Waterford - Lake Tichigan

Cottage On The Canal is perfect for those who enjoy kayaking, canoeing, fishing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, fall colors, or just getting away from the city. Located on a small canal that leads directly into Tichigan Lake, this house is on the water and only 350 feet from wide open lake. Tichigan Lake and the Fox River Impoundment combine for over 1,100 acres of navigable waterway that is perfect for waterskiing, wake boarding, fishing, and swimming in summer and ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in winter. Just a short paddle from the house is a swimmable lake with depths greater than eight feet and depths up to 63 feet in the middle of the lake. By walking less than 100 steps away from the house you can find dining and often live entertainment at The Watering Hole Bar and Grill. This cottage is ideal for 4 people, could sleep 5 or 6 in total, if they fit on the small pull out sofa featured in the photos. Relax by a fire in the private, fenced-in yard, or enjoy the lower level entertainment area where family and friends can play games or just relax and watch a movie. Located just 3.5 miles from the nearest grocery store and less than 4 miles to downtown Waterford, you can be away from it all but close to creature comforts. The canal is NOT ideal if you have a pontoon boat that is 8.5' wide or greater or 18 foot or larger ski boats as the canal is restricted by a narrow bridge and the canal itself is only 20 feet wide. It IS ideal for fishing boats, jet skis, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, or paddle boards. Included with your stay is free unlimited use of two kayaks and one canoe, or bring your own fishing boat and tie up to the dock. If you just want to relax and look at the water then the deck overlooking the canal and the lake may be more your style. Bring your brats, burgers or hot dogs and grill out on the deck on the Weber propane grill. The canal may appear clean and shallow, but guests do catch perch, bass, catfish, and even northern pike right off the dock. Paddling through the tunnel allows for great underwater viewing of whatever happens to be swimming through! We provide two kayaks and a canoe for our guests to enjoy. Inside you will find entertainment for the kids and adults alike with a foosball table, air hockey table, and Pac-Man arcade game with eleven other 1980s classic video games. A second TV is located in the lower level game room so kids can watch what they want downstairs while the adults unwind upstairs. The house does have a Ring Doorbell at the front door for security and monitoring of the house.

The house was perfect for our nice weekend getaway, and had everything we could need. We lucked out with some beautiful weather and the kids had a great time with the kayaks and canoes on the canal and the lake. Grant was very responsive and really easy to work with.

Such a cute cabin! We brought our 16 year old pup for a last trip before we put him down. It was a peaceful place, we got to spend time together. The game room downstairs is really cool, I spent hours playing PacMan. Would recommend as a perfect getaway from Chicago. Milwaukee is close by but there’s lots of restaurants nearby too.Grant was wonderful and communication was great. I had erroneously booked the wrong date and Grant was able to fix it for me.We will be back especially since it was too cold to use the kayaks or canoe.

We had just an excellent stay! We came for a quick girls weekend and this place was perfect! Cute, clean, comfortable beds and a excellently stocked kitchen! The main event of our weekends away is always a glorious, glutenous meal prepared by us, so a well stocked fully functional kitchen is key to our happiness! The town is cute with dining and shopping but also close enough for some day trips. We spent the late morning and early afternoon bopping around the downtown Lake Geneva boutiques which was great! We all agreed we'd love to come back in the summer and use the kayaks and canoe and check out the Water way! Grant was awesome to work with and the little bar next door was a plus! Highly recommend!

Grant sent us an email with information in advance and everything was exactly as the pictures showed. We walked out on the ice and saw some fisherman catch a huge northern. We had dinner and caught some live music next door, and we’re pleased that we couldn’t hear it at the house after we left. It was a short drive to Alpine Valley for a day of skiing. We will definitely be back to check it out in the summertime.

I love this place! I had such a great time! One of my favorites was using the Kayak - you can easily explore the canal (attached to the yard) and access the big lake which is just few short rows away. There is a nice island and slow no wake that made for minimal waves and boat traffic. The house is clean, bed was comfortable and we loved playing the arcade-like PacMan and foosball! The host was easy to work with and the neighborhood was nice and quiet - which my dog enjoyed. I am planning on coming back again!

Great place to stay!

Cottage on the Canal did not disappoint! Grant was very reachable and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was very clean. There were plenty of activities to do, but just relaxing outside on the deck was wonderful. Grant even left a bottle of wine to greet us when we walked in. Highly recommend staying here!

Fantastic Location for a getaway

Cute and Cozy

The absolute best place to stay for our family and dogs. The house was clean and well stocked. Beds were very comfortable. A little attention to cobwebs and small spiders in the basement but overall a great stay.

Great little cottage

Property owner was great to deal with, and communication was also very good. The neighborhood was quiet, and there is a nice bar/restaurant directly next door. All amenties were exactly as described.

Lovely weekend in Waterford

My husband, pup, and I enjoyed a long weekend at Grant’s place. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. It was great to have family visit us and enjoy an outdoor fire. Area was very quiet, Grant was very responsive with questions.

Our Stay

Very comfortable and relaxing stay. My husband and I are both disabled so the stairs were a bit much for me. But Grant allowed us extra time to check out and was very understanding.

We have been VRBO hosts since 2015 and have another property on this body of water. We have maintained a 4.9+ review rating at that property and will give our guests at Cottage on the Canal the same service and care that we provide at our Elm Island home.

This is a brand new listing and remodeling is almost complete and ready for summer of 2022. Being a new property with limited reviews it is not completely booked for the summer like many others and still has availability.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Direct Access to Tichigan Lake by kayak, canoe, jet-ski, or small boats without the price of renting directly on Tichigan Lake. Walking distance to the best ice fishing on Tichigan Lake from the property - the ONLY way to icefish Tichigan Lake is access from individual properties. While the house is on the water (the canal) it also has views of Tichigan Lake from the deck and inside the house.
