Burnaby House

Overall, our stay was very pleasant. Very helpful with instructions on how to use appliances and equipment in the house. Great view and nice neighborhood. We had one issue with a leaking sink in the kitchen that was a known issue seeing there was a bowl to capture the water. However, we were not aware of the issue until we had water all the floor in the morning. There are some cosmetic flaws that could be addressed as well i.e. patching & painting of walls. Certainly easy fixes to make the stay more comfortable and relaxing.

Nice stay

Yuan was very responsive to messages. The house, while dated, was comfortable for my two kids and us, and we appreciated the home base while in Vancouver. Yuan even let us us e the garage out back and charge our rental e-car while there.

Beautiful view!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful dog friendly house! The host Yuan was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable relaxing stay!

Cool family getaway

Quiet and neat neighborhood made for relaxing mornings and evenings after big days of adventures. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and relax. Grocery stores and restaurants were a five minute drive away. Drive time from Stanley Park was longer than we anticipated but the comfortable rooms, quiet, and beautiful views were just what we needed. The owner Yuan was pleasant and easy to talk to.

Great location, great views

This property was just as it was listed. We just didn’t realize there were so many stairs! Stairs going down from the garage to back door, stairs from the street to the front door, narrow spiral stairs going up to bedrooms! We ended up Leaving bags on main floor and not taking them upstairs! There is a lot of maintenance/painting that needs to be done on property. Yuan was very helpful when some things fell apart and he got them fixed in a timely manner. Check in and check out was very easy!

Weekend getaway

What a great place to stay in! It’s cozy and very relaxing. A great place to reconnect with friends you haven’t seen for a long time. Location is great for touring friends around as it is in the middle of Metro Vancouver.

Could be great with added attention

There's a lot to like about this property--beautiful views in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood, with lots of places for my family of 5 to spread out. However, the house was in need to a deep clean--lots of dog hair in corners and on the stairs and dust on many surfaces, though the "turnover" cleaning was good. The first night we couldn't get one of the gas burners to turn off and when I contacted Juan about it at about 7pm, he couldn't attend to it until 10:30pm, which was unreasonably late. We figured out how to turn off the gas to the stove altogether so I asked him to come the next day instead but he said that wasn't possible for him so he came at 10:35pm that evening, not really giving us an option, which is certainly not optimal by any means. There are lots of nice amenities in the house, but spottiness in what's available in the kitchen (no mixing bowls, only 9 forks total, 4 wine glasses, etc.), and the front room really needs a sofa so the view can be enjoyed. There are not 4 full bathrooms as it states in the description. We did appreciate that the only thing required of us to check out was to empty the garbage/recycling. (Note--the garage is up 2 flights of stairs via the backyard and the garbage bins are up there. This was not obvious to us since the garage actually looks like a separate house.) With just a bit more thoughtfulness to the space, better cleaning and the addition of a property manager to address issues when Juan isn't available, this could be a truly wonderful vacation home.

Great Location

My friend and I came up to BC from Seattle for our birthdays. We picked this location because it was away from downtown Vancouver but still close enough to get there within just a few minutes and it was in a quiet neighborhood with great views. When we arrived, we noticed a very strong food odor that took over the entire house. The house itself was really cool. A lot of cool art and decor everywhere and the view out the window was so pretty especially when the sun rises in the morning. We did notice that the cleaners did not do a good job with little details like leaving hair on the floor, they did not vacuum any part of the house. There was hair all over and debris as well no vacuum lines, so it was obvious they skipped this important part of cleaning. It was a good thing we didn’t have any other guests with us because they didn’t even bother to clean anything downstairs. There was even urine left in the toilet and the bed was a mess. I had messaged the host and asked if there was someone living down there because it literally looked like someone was coming right back. 😯 None of the bathrooms had extra toilet paper and all of the existing rolls were either empty or nearing the end. There was about a quarter of a roll left of paper towels that definitely wouldn’t have lasted us the entire week. The tv room had a bit of a dog urine smell but I guess that is to be expected when pets are allowed. I notified the host Yuan as soon as we noticed these issues and he responded quickly. He apologized and wanted to make it right. He said he would send the cleaners back but we said it was ok. We were already settling in and it was getting late so we took care of the rest of the cleaning ourselves. About an hour later, I went to open the front door and there was a bouquet of flowers and a case of toilet paper and paper towels. That was very sweet and thoughtful of him to do that. Overall, we had a blast and enjoyed our stay. Yuan is a great host that really cares about his guests and their stay at his home. We would definitely stay again. Hopefully the cleaners will do a better job for future guests 😊

Spacious house with a nice view

Yuan was great with timely communication. Pretty accurate descriptions, though the front entrance wasn’t easily accessible during our stay due to construction, the garage is big enough for 2 cars, and the back alley is paved so it’s very clean. Just beware of the steep stairs around., which lends the house a good view from the elevation. Easy accessible to many good restaurants and shopping malls.

Lovely sunrise views

Property is exactly as stated and has great access to North Vancouver and associated hiking areas. Yuan is a thoughtful host and we enjoyed our stay.

Great house!

This house in Burnaby is quite nice with a lovely view! It is a residential neighborhood, but very close to lots of restaurants and shopping in eastern Vancouver. Stanley Park and Linn Valley Forest (our new favorite place) are both within 30 minutes. Yuan was very responsive to any questions and had lots of suggestions for activities.

Great base to explore Vancouver

The house has what you need in a base to explore Vancouver, with many good facilities, a fantastic view and a good and responsive host. However, we were surprised by the slowness of traffic in Vancouver, which means that Burnaby is further from the city center than expected. The house is older and worn, but the basics work

The home was exactly as described

Yuan was the perfect host, he answered all our questions promptly, he provided a notebook that explained how everything worked and contained the wifi codes. He provided info on places to see and thing to do.

Fantastic view

This was a very nice property for 6 adults ..and the view was fascinating to watch the ships etc Even the neighbours were great One caution…steep slope and stairs so not suitable for anyone with physical limitations
