Between the Woods and the Vineyards
Élodie and Fabien (cattle breeder in Charolais & Montbéliarde breeds and producer of goat cheese / family farm located nearby in the hamlet / direct sales and visits possible), open the doors of a charming authentic traditional 19th century farmhouse, fully restored, nestled in the quiet a stone's throw from the vineyards, in a peaceful little typical hamlet (both residential & agricultural), home to the listed medieval site of the "Temple of Saint Catherine", former "Templar commandery" steeped in history (remarkable medieval architectural ensemble of the 13th century classified as a Historical Monument consisting of a main building and a chapel / now private property). Peace and tranquility in the heart of the rolling, gentle Mâconnais wine country, a blend of unspoiled nature, agriculture, and viticulture (protected as a Natura 2000 and ZNIEFF site for its rich fauna and flora), nestled in a bucolic and preserved landscape combining vineyard slopes, hedged meadows, and beautiful wild forests, situated "on the land" of the legendary Chardonnay grape variety (Viré-Clessé appellation) at the foot of the Burgy mountain (a protected massif offering exceptional panoramic views of the Jura mountain range, the Bresse plain, and even Mont Blanc on a clear day!), very close to the banks of the Saône (to be explored on foot or by bicycle, or during relaxing boat trips). Spacious and comfortable gîte. A refined contemporary style blends seamlessly with the charming atmosphere of a former rural home (preserving the original walls, lintels, and beautiful stone staircase adorned with unique bullseye windows). A peaceful and tranquil ambiance. A large enclosed courtyard features a spacious, sunny terrace (shaded in the late afternoon) complemented by a delightful 600m² lawned and landscaped garden (cherry and plum trees – fruit picking possible during your stay) nestled beside a pretty little vineyard. Composition: Gîte in a semi-detached village house comprising the owners' accommodation and a separate, year-round rental unit (complete independence). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). TV (with Canal+ package). Gas central heating. The gîte is a duplex on two levels. Ground floor: kitchen, living/dining room (with a 140x180cm sofa bed for two people). First floor: 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed 160x200cm and the other with two single beds 90x190cm), one of which leads to a small mezzanine overlooking the stairwell (an architectural feature: direct access "without a door" from the bedroom), bathroom (bath/toilet). Enclosed courtyard (terrace) + garden (600m²) slightly set back (a small road to cross opposite the cottage / safe) + bicycle storage + private parking. Small shops 5 km. Supermarket 9.5 km. Charming authentic traditional 19th century farmhouse fully restored - adorned with a large enclosed courtyard and a pretty 600m² garden very slightly "offset" - nestled in peace and quiet a stone's throw from the vineyards, on a site steeped in history, within a peaceful little typical rural hamlet, 5 km from the picturesque wine village of Lugny ("the small capital of the Haut-Mâconnais" with many shops, a renowned "Accrobranche" site and the first cellar producing Burgundy Wines) and 11 km from Tournus (world-renowned abbey site / A6 & all amenities on site). In the heart of the gentle Mâconnais wine country (protected in Natura 2000 & ZNIEFF Zone for its rich ecosystems), "on the lands" of the mythical "Chardonnay" grape variety, a magnificent hilly setting combining vineyard slopes, bucolic meadows and beautiful forests, nestled at the foot of the wooded foothills of the Massif Sud Bourgogne (a vast wild space to explore on foot or by mountain bike) in the heart of the Val de Saône (river banks very close). An ultra-privileged location on the routes of the Romanesque churches circuit, the renowned GTM mountain bike circuit labeled "FFC Mountain Bike" (Grand Tour of the South Burgundy Massif linked to a vast network of similar routes crisscrossing the massif in a "star" pattern) and marked footpaths connected to several "green walks" (numerous hiking trails of the same type winding between vineyards and open countryside, to be discovered in the area), in close proximity to the "Burgundy Wine Route" (which extends into the "Great Wines Route"), 5 km from the Blue Way along the banks of the Saône adjacent to the Green Way of the "Great Loop of Southern Burgundy", 5.5 km from a marked cycle route serving the charming market town of Pont de Vaux & its river marina (linked to the Saône), 9 km from the GR76 connected to the famous GR of the "Cluny Way" (ViaCluny) as well as the mythical "Monks' Way" (once linking the abbeys of Cîteaux and Cluny), 10 km from the "Cycloroute71" (Tour of Saône-et-Loire by bike) and 12 km from the renowned Mont Saint-Romain downhill mountain bike trail. Prime location in the heart of the Mâconnais and its famous vineyards, at the crossroads of the Ain, the Tournugeois-Clunisois (labeled "Land of Art and History"), the Chalonnais and the Bresse Bourguignonne, not far from the vineyards of the Côtes Chalonnaises and Beaujolais, as well as the Côtes de Beaune and Hautes Côtes de Beaune. Ideal for easy exploration: 12 km from La Salle golf course, 13 km from the renowned Azé Caves, 14 km from the medieval town of Brancion, 18 km from the rare Truchère Nature Reserve (a remarkable protected ecosystem), 19 km from Cuisery, listed among the very exclusive 8 "Book Villages" of France, 23 km from Mâcon (Mâcon-Loché train station 26 km away), 25 km from the medieval village of Romenay, 25 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 30 km from the medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National, a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté", 32 km from the magnificent landscape of the Roches de Solutré and Vergisson, a designated "Grand Site de France", 39 km from Vonnas (the gastronomic and gourmet village of Georges Blanc), 39 km from Louhans (historic capital of the Bresse region of Burgundy), 40 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (designated a "City of Art and History"), 41 km from "Hameau Dubœuf" (Europe's first wine and vineyard theme park), and 49 km from Bourg-en-Bresse. A relaxing retreat nestled between vineyards and the great outdoors, following in the footsteps of the famous Knights Templar…
