Enjoy stunning views of Sitka's Thompson Harbor and Mt. Edgecumbe in this waterfront house.

Recently remodeled, the Hughes House offers great views of Sitka's ocean and mountains from almost every room. Fully equipped with a spacious kitchen, laundry unit, and a large yard great for gatherings or a bonfire by the ocean.

The main floor offers 3 bedrooms. The bed set up is as follows: one room with two twin beds, a queen bed in the second and a queen bed in the third bedroom as well. The main floor sleeps up to 6 guests. There is one full bathroom and one half bathroom for guests to use. The rental also boosts a large kitchen, living room and a TV room.

Guests renting the house will have access to the laundry facilities located in the basement.

Stunning view family friendly home

We came to Sitka for a wedding and couldn’t have picked a better house to stay in. Ocean front with stunning views and a family friendly house with plenty of room.

Great Memories

My family and I enjoyed a lovely 5 day stay visiting the sites of Sitka. The Hughes house was a highlight … mornings watching the ocean out the kitchen window and eagles flying by was special. Close to a grocery store and downtown nearby made for easy visiting of the Sitka activities. Wonderful memories of our stay at Hughes home!

Sitka family vacation

We loved the house and area. Our family did not rent a car which was fine for us but you have to be willing to walk because town was about a mile and a quarter from town. One day we rented bikes and scooters. Very fun. Would recommend this house and area to all interested in the outdoors

Bait and switch tactics on advertising read fine print they should advertise it correctly 1.5 bath and 3 beds when someone reads this they won’t be misled

Hi George, Thanks for the review. The house is 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, that is correct. In the description it clearly states the pricing structure and to add the lower level it's an extra fee. I'm sorry you missed reading those details. We also sent out an email after your booking was received to remind you how the pricing structure works and to ask if you'd like to add the lower level. It's definielty important to read house descriptions so important details like this don't get missed.

The place was clean and pretty much comfortable. The Hughes House was the right size for our all our family and the extended family who live in Alaska. Thank you for the use of the property. Thank you for the binoculars as well. It made it easy to look at the wild life, boats and mountains up close. My husband walked down the road to watch a high school baseball game in the rain, which normally does not happen in most places in the lower 48. It was a great time for all. Yes, everything worked.

I am torn between Excellent and good. Overall we had a lovely stay. And loved the kitchen! BEST fully equipped kitchen we have ever rented. My hesitation to not leaving a Excellent review is that the house has a basement apartment that use to be able to added to your rental agreement for extra space. It is now rented out to the owners family. They were very kind and there is not problem there. However, prior to meeting them they have a dog that we could hear barking and at one point during our stay barked for an excessive time frame. I don't normally rent shared spaces because you just never know. And in this case we didn't know about the bottom unit being rented out until we checked in (might have been in the fine print and I missed it). Again they were very kind but I did feel like I was in their space. Our kids wanted to play in the back yard and they shared toys with our kids but the seating that was outside was occupied and I wasn't sure if it was their space or the rentals and didnt feel comfortable using it, so we eneded up playing on the beach and kind of avoided the back yard. Communication to the property is via a property manager. We asked a question prior to our stay, they responded they needed to ask the owner. They never got back to us with an answer. Overall good view. Rental car helps with seeing sights and getting to and from. Clean, some dog hair on the living room carpet. Comfortable beds.

Great house!

Great house, very clean and well appointed. This advertisement is actually for a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath house. not a a 5 bedroom 2.5 bath. There is an additional charge which opens more rooms and an additional bathroom for you. Host was unwilling to open the rest of the home to us after arrival, even though we were willing to pay the additional fee to accommodate our large group. As a result, we were somewhat cramped and had to have one guest sleep on the couch. I would recommend the house, but the listing is misleading.
