Large family home near lakes, parks, and wineries

Escape the city life and relax in a country setting, centrally located in beautiful Southern IL. Our spacious home has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, rec. room, living room, kitchen, dining room, and a pool (open summer only.) The property feels like the country but is close to all the popular places in the area. The region is known for its wine trails, breweries, SIU campus, and the beautiful Shawnee National Forest. After exploring all day, sit out on the deck or roast marshmallows by the a fire!

Our house is located on a dead end road. You will see lots of deer and other small animals in the area. The property sits on an acre of land.

Family Wedding Weekend

Great location to attend a family weekend. Beautiful area very close to the Walker’s Bluff Winery. We enjoyed a great lunch and did some wine tasting. Owners were very accommodating and responsive to all of our needs.

Newly remodeled and clean

This property was very nice and clean and we would definitely stay here again. The host was always prompt in answering questions that I had and they give detailed check in and out instructions.

Wine trail trip

We really enjoyed our stay!! The house was clean, orderly, well supplied with everything we needed. Quality kitchen appliances. Well decorated and up to date. Would definitely recommend to others and will hopefully return sometime!

Nice quiet house

We chose this house to be close to the Dragonfly wedding venue and it was perfect. It was a quiet single story home. Nice and open, with a great dining room. I would recommend!

Great Rental!!

My husband, myself and our 2 kiddos stayed here for 4 days and WOW!!! Very clean, spacious and all of the amenities. Pool was a great bonus! The owners really paid attention to detail as far as what to provide for a home away from home. Also, there’s a town called Herrin about 10 miles from the property where we found a pizza spot called Joe’s Pizza….delicious!! We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Feels like home!!

Very clean and welcoming!! Our family had a blast in the swimming pool and the kids loved the horse shoe pit. This house has every thing you could ever need from cooking to just relaxing. There’s plenty of things for the kids to do as well. The host was very informative about everything!! Definitely recommend trying it out!!!

Wonderfully clean and welcoming

Our small family met up with family friends for a week in this lovely house. We really appreciated the friendly and helpful attitude of the owners, including an information book with a little history of the house and labels on many switches. The kitchen was very well stocked, with a variety of pans and plenty of dishes. The kids enjoyed the foosball table and several board games that were available. The pool and covered deck in the back were a real bonus. Although the road behind the house was busier than we would have liked, the back yard is extensive, so the traffic didn't feel too intrusive. The layout of the inside of the house felt very convenient for our group as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Highly recommended

I stayed here for my 31st birthday. I had so much fun. The instructions were precise left by the host. Great wifi. Secluded. Lots of acres. Quiet. It was clean. It was spacious. There is a TV and jetted tub in the bathroom. The place was almost perfect. The only con I have is that there is no TV and the kids room bunk bed or in the guest room. I wish it hadn't been too cold to swim in the pool outside because the aesthetics were awesome. My whole family loved it. We decided that this may be our new vaca1tion home when we come to see my mom's side of the family. You won't be disappointed.

Home Away From Home

We had a wonderful stay. I rented this property when we traveled to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for a softball tournament. The house was perfect for our family of six. The only recommendations that we have for improvements are 1) a light over the master bathroom vanity and 2) some sort of fan or something for the smaller room (with the bunk bed) as the top bed got too hot for my son. To adjust to the limited lighting in the master bath, I simply used the other bathroom. For the temperature issue in the smaller room, my son simply moved to the family room to sleep. The owners do provide an air mattress but he slept on the couch, which worked great for him. We were not bothered by these minor inconveniences and would stay again. Thanks for a great stay!

Amazing

The house smelled so good and was surprisingly big compared to what I expected. It was so clean and was in a great location. You were 10-15 minutes from many towns. It was so nice and I have zero complaints.

Great place, but doesn't sleep 9 easily

This is a great home, very clean, great ammenities and close in proximity to Carbondale and the DuQuoin State Fair, which was the reason for our visit. We chose this property for it's ability to sleep 9 as noted on the listing. There is a king bed (sleeps 2), a queen (sleeps 2) and bunk beds (sleeps 2), along with an older couch and a blow up air mattress. Our older family members aren't able to get on/off of an air mattress or up to the top of a bunk bed. I'd list it as "sleeps 6" as that is more accurate. A couple pull-out sofas would easily make this a 'sleeps 9' home. The TV in the bathtub was a fun touch, although a larger TV in the living room or other tv's in the bedrooms would be great as well! Overall, we have a wonderful stay and would return again! A could small updates in sleep accommodations would make this the perfect place!

Staycation

Me and two other local moms just wanted to get together for a couple night with our kids instead of the normal. The pool was broken however the owners were more than accommodating because of this! We would 100% book this again. In fact I’m trying to talk my husband into just him and I. This place was way more stocked with linens, soaps and even trash bags than I have ever seen at a VRBO listing! Highly suggest!!
