Nestled on a ridge within 35 wooded acres, this tranquil retreat offers the perfect blend of modern comfort and rustic charm, just 10 minutes from Carbondale. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub on the elevated back deck with stunning forest views, including a majestic shagbark hickory tree. Gather around the outdoor fire pit with complimentary firewood for an evening under the stars.

* Guests have access to the entire cabin and are encouraged to explore the surrounding forest. Please be mindful of other guests in the three other cabins on the property.
* A personalized online Welcome Guide is provided upon booking, filled with recommendations for local attractions and activities.

Other Things to Note:
* Check-in: After 3 PM
* Check-out: Before 10 AM
* Rental agreement and ID verification are required.
* Pet Policy: Pets must be reported prior to arrival. $50/pet per stay (max 2 dogs). Unreported pets will incur a $150 fee.
* Starter Set of Supplies: We provide an initial supply of toilet paper and paper towels. Guests are responsible for replenishing as needed.

The cabin was extremely nice and spotless. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The beds were comfortable and the location was perfect for our son’s wedding!!

Cozy winter stay

Shagbark Cabin is beautiful! We loved our stay. It was cozy and relaxing. The cabin was clean and very well stocked with kitchen supplies.

Hot tub was clean and so was the cabin. The dryer was not functioning properly which meant it took a very long time to dry towels. But besides that everything was great.

Peacefulness

Needed a relaxing getaway, this cabin was perfect. Close enough to food and a few shops but far enough from city chaos. Cabin was very clean. HotTub was amazing. We have stayed at one of the other cabins in this group but this one was our fave.

Birthday celebration

we had a great time celebrating our sons birthday. the cabin was beautiful and just perfect for us to use as home base to explore the area. the fire pit and hot tub were a great hit.

Cozy cabin

We had a short stay to do a day of hiking. The cabin was easy to find and so cute! The decor was perfect and it was so clean! The place looked brand new. It has just about anything you would need. The hot tub was so nice after a long day of hiking. Overall it was super comfortable and relaxing. I only wish we could have stayed longer to explore more of the forest and hike more trails. We will be back for sure!!! I should also mention Allison was our host and did an amazing job making sure everything was perfect.

Perfect Getaway

We loved every moment here. Beautifully decorated, super cozy and serene. Comfortable beds, perfect amenities, hot tub under the stars was incredible. We will be back!

Relax in the woods

We absolutely loved everything about this cabin. It was beautiful and peaceful inside and out. Perfect spot to get away and take a break from the busyness of life. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect cozy cabin for family get away

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family of four. The cabin was very clean with furnishing, decor, and amenities that were all well thought out. From the unique nature themed wall hangings to the abundance of hooks for coats and towels, everything about this place feels cozy and inviting. The location is perfect, being about 10 minutes from Carbondale and less than 10 minutes to Giant City State Park. The lofted sleeping area and lack of tub make this better suited for older kids, but we had no issues with our 5 and 7 year olds. They loved having their own sleeping space upstairs and there was plenty of space in the private driveway out front for them to safely run around without bothering the neighbors. This is definitely one we will come back to!

Girlfriend reunion

It was a midway meeting point for a 20 year friendship driving from Peoria IL, Bourbonnais IL and Lexington KY. The cabin was a dream. It is decorated beautifully and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and the rockers on front porch with hours of conversation and card games. We ventured into town only once to do some antique/thrift shopping. We realized our time was better in the woods so shopping was cut short! We can’t wait to go back! Each morning we had a visit from the prettiest bird!

Wonderful cabin!!! Very clean, SO ADORABLE!!! Hot tub was amazing, fire pit was relaxing and played a few games that were provided there. Checkin was great, and Allison was very helpful!! Will visit again!!

Perfect!

Beautiful and enchanting cabin. We are a family of 5, youngest is 11 years old. There was enough room for all of us. Everything was clean. Quiet area. It was a great experience, hope to return during fall or winter to experience a different season here.

Cabin Luxury

We were expecting a simple, quiet cabin in the woods for a brief get away. Although listings often use flowery adjectives like luxurious and cozy, this one was truly a standout. High-end kitchenware, unique and regionally appropriate decor and art, leather furniture, a Pendleton wool blanket for the couch and so much more made us immediately feel like a welcomed guest at a friend’s home. It was perfect!

Beautiful bachelorette weekend!

We had the pleasure of staying in this amazing microcabin, there was four of us and it was the perfect size. Our bride said she was wanted to stay in a little cabin in the woods for her bachelorette and when I found this place, it was the perfect spot! The aesthetic was 10/10, down to every little detail! Even though it was hot and humid the weekend we stayed, we still enjoyed the hot tub. It’s in a really great location and traveling to the nearest town was simple so you could still enjoy the restaurants the cities had to offer. All in all, 5/5 stars, so grateful to have found this hidden gem!
