Spicewood Yurt

★ Two king suites, one circular yurt.

Spicewood is a round hard-wall yurt at Elk Hollow, tucked between two quiet subdivisions and a horse pasture. The loudest thing here is birdsong, with the odd deer or wild turkey out the window.

🛋️ INSIDE

➝ Open, light, airy circular layout

➝ Plush sofa + Smart TV for movie nights

➝ Full kitchen: teal cabinets, granite, stainless, stocked pantry

➝ Dining table for four at the window

🛏️ WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP

➝ Two private king en-suite bedrooms, each with its own bath

➝ Amish hand-crafted beds, Aspen log + heavy Barnwood

➝ Tiled walk-in rainfall shower with a bench in each bath

➝ Full-size washer + dryer in the unit

★ The beds are the single most-praised thing in our reviews

🌲 OUTSIDE

➝ Large wraparound deck with cushioned chairs

➝ Gas grill + picnic table

➝ String lights overhead after dark

➝ Fire pit for s'mores

➝ Private hot tub under the stars, open year-round

♥ WHO IT'S FOR

Two couples, or a family of four who want two real bedrooms instead of a shared space, with an infant or young child welcome as a fifth. Quiet by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house.

🚗 GETTING HERE

No 4WD and no white-knuckle climb, and the main deck and hot tub are step-free. The driveway is tight, so larger vehicles should use the upper drive to turn around. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.

➳ GOOD TO KNOW

Hidden Falls, our one-bedroom yurt, sits just behind Spicewood. Guests rarely notice it, but if you're traveling as a bigger group or two families, book both for two private units side by side.

A Little Piece of Heaven in the Woods

Such a charming and rustic place, nestled in the woods surrounded by nature. It was absolutely peaceful. Hot tub at night with the crickets and the stars was so relaxing. The yurt was extremely clean, the beds were so comfortable, and the wrap around deck was great for morning coffees. Host very responsive and accommodating. There’s so many places to hike and explore. Very close to a state park with waterfalls and trails. I definitely recommend taking a tube and floating down! Breathtaking scenery. 10/10 recommend this place and can’t wait to be back!

Loved this place!!

We had never been to the Smokey Mountains before, but the minute I saw this yurt and its glowing reviews online, I knew we had to stay here. I'm happy to say, it did not disappoint. The property was absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Everything inside the home was super high quality, and we appreciated all the special touches, like the extra thick throw blankets in every room. As nice as the inside was, we spent most of our time outside, either eating, playing games, or relaxing on the porch or warming up by the fire pit. I'm usually the task master on vacation, making sure everyone is up in the morning so we can get out and "do things." However, at this place, I had no problem letting everyone else sleep in, because my absolute favorite part of this vacation was sitting on the front porch by myself in the morning with my coffee, reading a book, surrounded by trees, cool temps, and enjoying the ultimate tranquility.....sigh. The location of the property was also great. I couldn't believe how close we were to the Smokey Mountain park where we hiked and tubed 2 days in a row since it was so close, convenient, and affordable. The other activities we did during our stay (river rafting and horse back riding) were further, but only 20 minutes away. This place really was perfect, and I'm so glad we chose it for our stay. If we ever come back to the area, we definitely want to stay here again.

Unique first fun experience in a Yurt

Enjoyed our Thanksgiving week with friends in this unique yurt. It sits high up on beautiful property with a nearby stream. Enjoyed the relaxing hot tub, cooked on the outdoor grill on the large wrap around covered deck. The house had all the amenities you could possibly need. They thought of everything! Very comfortable beds too. Also, amazing mountains all around. First class experience!

Peaceful, but still close to hiking and town.

We enjoyed being able to relax after riding the motorcycle for the day. Quiet and charming. We will definitely stay again if we return to Bryson City. Enjoyed being able to cook out on the grill a few times. Also a bonfire and the hot tub!

Comfortable upscale Getaway

Comfortable and convenient to everything! Love, Love, Loved it all, cooking steaks (had many spices and seasonings) on the covered porch, seeing the wild turkeys, the comfortable king size beds, the big luxurious showers, the overall quietness of the area. It is a perfect place to explore the area with family or friends. Only 5 minutes to town for local restaurants. Walking down the streets feels like you are in Mayberry. With a train, candy shops and the beautiful river running through the heart of town. We had a picnic in the Smoky Mountain National Park (which was just down the road from the yurt) and went on an easy hike to the first two waterfalls. Loved watching the kids tube in the stream. We couldn’t ask for more!

One for the record books!

Very impressed with the entire experience at this property. First let me say that the place was immaculately clean and the furnishings were very up to date. This has not been our experience with other rentals in the Bryson City area. The serene atmosphere on the wrap around porch fit everything we needed for our getaway. Did not have a chance to use the hot tub , but it looked very well maintained and we would be excited to try it next time. We found the kitchen to be fully stocked with all the tools needed to cook our meal. The downtown area is super close without feeling like you are “in town” and we could just run in to get whatever we needed and be back very shortly. Loved every minute of it!!

A beautiful yurt within walking distance to the great smokey mountains

I have never stayed in a yurt before, and didn't know quite what to expect, but from seeing the posted pictures I can confidently say that as good as they looked the yurt was even better in person! There's a fully equipped kitchen complete with a kurig and coffee pods for it, and many spices and extras that I've never had come included with a vrbo stay before. I made some fantastic steaks for me and my SO on the almost commercial gas grill that they had there as well, and we dined outside on a picnic table while taking in the beautiful blooming plants and trees nearby. We spent some time in the hot tub, as well as made a fire and had some s'mores for a late night dessert. I couldn't begin to say enough nice things about both the area, the smokies and the great hiking trails there, and the yurt and hot tub which helped our sore legs feel as good as our fantastic stay was. I highly recommend checking this out, there was another yurt also, but it was booked, but I would imagine it would have been just as nice as the one we stayed in. Thanks for the stay, and I can't wait to come back for a longer stay next time!

Hi, I'm Jeanetta, your host at Elk Hollow. After 34 years in the rental industry, and with my husband Mike behind me the whole way, I built the retreat I'd always wanted to stay in. Elk Hollow sits a mile from the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on quiet ground with a stream running through it, hardwoods overhead, and wild turkeys and deer that turn up like they own the place. They kind of do. What I care about is that you arrive and exhale. That you feel relaxed, safe, and at home, with more to do nearby than you'll have time for. I'm happiest outdoors. I have two children, six grandchildren, and friends I've kept my whole life, and most of my favorite memories were made in these mountains. I hope you make some here too. Come see us.

Spicewood is the two-bedroom yurt, and it's built for four. A round hard-wall yurt with two private king en-suite bedrooms, so two couples or a family get real bedrooms and real bathrooms instead of sharing. The circular layout is open and light, with a full kitchen, a plush living area, and a wraparound deck around the outside. It's also one of the easy ones: no 4WD, and the main deck and hot tub are step-free, which most mountain rentals can't say. The beds are the single most-praised thing in our reviews. Traveling with more people? Hidden Falls, our one-bedroom yurt, sits just behind Spicewood. Book both for two private units side by side. Anniversaries, family trips, or a double date, five minutes from town.

この宿泊施設の特徴

🔒 Important Policies & Rate Notes A $400 refundable security hold is placed 1 day before arrival and released 2 days after checkout. It lets us keep the property quiet and gives our housekeeping team the time to prepare your stay properly. The main deck and hot tub are step-free, an easy-access yurt. The path down to the fire pit is sloped. No pets. No smoking or vaping indoors, since the smell settles into soft furnishings and doesn't come out. Families are welcome. The yurt isn't childproofed and we don't provide a crib, so bring what your little ones need.
