Deer Dune, the Dune house is located at the end of the road in a secluded Saugatuck MI enclave of a handful of homes. Nestled in oaks, pines and decades old rhodendrums that blanket the landscaping. The home is an architectural gem and is regularly frequented by Deer, Turkey and the Owl. Enjoy the relaxation of rural refinement and the sounds of Lake Michigan on the dunes with all the amenities of Douglas, Saugatuck and Oval & Douglas Beach just minutes away.
The Dune House, brings the outside in with expansive windows and doors that reach from floor to ceiling and doors that sweep open to bring in uninterrupted nature and landscaped panoramas. Deer Dune’s décor is rich in eclecticism with contemporary furnishings, antiques and appointments and original art that show case stunning contemporary lines. We like to think it’s fun, cozy, comfortable and smart with a deference to the traditions of lake Michigan that will create a nostalgia, memories and stories to last a lifetime.
Home Amenities At a Glance:
Five bedrooms with four bathrooms, two ensuite.
Spacious layout with 3 houses. (Main house) Two bedrooms, one up and one main level, the loft and street side. The Loft has a private balcony. Two (2) bathrooms, laundry room, and open living area with living, TV, stereo, dining, kitchen, wood burning fireplace with complimentary firewood.
(Cottage house) Two bedrooms, named the library and the Cottage room, one up and one down. The Cottage, upstairs bedroom is ensuite with bathroom.
(Studio house) One bedroom ensuite with shower. Private balcony. The lower level is the game room with pool table, TV and lounge area seating.
Outdoor covered and screened dining. Sunning porch.
Gourmet kitchen with counter island seating for four. Dining table seats 8. Outside BBQ
Fireplace, wood burning with complimentary firewood.

This was the perfect property to spend a weekend with my 4 sisters. We were thrilled with the location, the scenery, the local wildlife and the opportunity to stay in a home that met all our needs. Super spacious, relaxing home that’s perfect for a group of friends. Screened in porch with a large table where all 10 of us could sit at the same time was appreciated as well as all the comfortable chairs and sofas inside. More than 1 fridge to use for overflow Big, well stocked kitchen. Secluded backyard in the woods. Very quiet neighborhood. Easy walk to Douglas Beach which was helpful due to limited parking. Easy drive to town. Hosts responded instantly to questions. Highly recommend this gem!

We loved Deerdune! A quiet hidden retreat but so close to everything! We saw wildlufe everyday. The house had everything we needed. Would highly recommend.

Our stay did not start well as our host gave us the wrong entry code for the lockbox. We called the number given to us to reach our host, only to have it go right to voicemail. After waiting outside for 15-20 minutes, we finally managed to reach the host to get the correct code. This property was well decorated, and the kitchen had everything and more. I was surprised considering the high level of furnishings that the mattress on the beds were terrible. None of the mattresses offered any support and all needed to be replaced. Considering the price of this rental I was very disappointed that the bedding did not offer the same quality as the furnishings of the rest of the house. Everyone in our party was complaining about the beds. The air conditioning was sub-zero on the main floor of the main part of the house, but very warm and uncomfortable on the upper floor. Overall, even though the house was beautifully decorated it didn't make up for the sagging mattresses and poor air conditioning on the upper levels.

Amazing place for a group stay

This is a fantastic place to stay for a large family or a group of friends. Five bedrooms and four baths across three buildings. (One important note: There’s only one bedroom with a bath that’s on the ground floor. Good to know if you have someone who can’t do stairs.) Game room with pool table and big tv is a great addition. The hot tub and fire pit are in beautiful settings. The house is in a tree-filled neighborhood and backs up to a wooded hill. Feels very private but is easy access to Oval Beach and Douglas Beach (we drove but very close). Downtown is a quick drive. Also fast to get to Holland. House is very well decorated with interesting art and lots of well-thought-out touches. Lots of towels, hair dryers, extremely well-appointed kitchen with a number of pantry staples. Lots of deck space for hanging out. Overall, we give this place a 10 out of 10. Our group of five adults and four teens was more than satisfied. Thank you!

Perfect House

House was in great location. Very well appointed with everything we needed. Multiple buildings connected by walkways and covered porches made it feel like we had a private resort to ourselves. Everyone had a blast. We will be back!

Great fall break location!

This house was perfect for our fall break getaway. The house is in a neighborhood but the lot is wooded so it feels more private than it is. There are three separate buildings which was perfect for our group. We wish one of the king beds was on a main level as it is hard for my parents to get up and down the stairs. The art work is amazing and the house is very well appointed. We had everything we needed for our week stay. The neighborhood and surrounding cities are all very dog friendly so our Doodles were able to come along and enjoy walks in the neighborhood and in town. Host was very responsive. Would stay again! Thanks!

We rented The Sanctuary at Deer Dune for my daughter and her wedding party. It was PERFECT! The property is clean, spacious and full of interesting art pieces. I'm not sure the photos do it justice. The location is great for trip to the beach and hanging in town.

Awesome Home to Relax & Renew

Picked this beautiful home for our family of 8 plus a dog to be together while in Saugatuck for our sons wedding. The home was perfect in that it had common areas for meals and games and conversation and then 3 separate locations with privacy to be able to retire and sleep with comfy beds and en-suite bathrooms. The home is loaded w/amazing pieces of art, sculptures, books and floor to ceiling windows to look out at nature and trees and dunes. We were visited every night with a number of deer and our early morning walks to the beach and coffee were just as enjoyable. This rental is awesome and all you need is to pack a bag and renew and refresh yourselves. Our family hopes to return again. Thank you Michelle .

Quiet Sanctuary

Many different spaces to enjoy during our week stay. Comfortable main gathering space in the main house with comfortable seating and up to date, very well stocked kitchen. Two quiet screened porch areas to relax, along with an outdoor eating space. The two side houses afforded more privacy for some of the guests. Thoughtful extras like ample beach towels and a new, clean PackNPlay already set up on arrival. House set at the end of a quiet wooded street bordering a wooded dune in back with deer meandering around the area. It was a great place for a family reunion.

Family vacation with 5 adult children.

We’ve been coming to Saugatuck for years so we are very familiar with the area. This was the perfect summer rental for my wife and me along with our 5 adult children plus significant others. It is hard to find a place for 10 adults with nice bedrooms and full baths for everyone. The interior decor was beautiful. The kitchen was fully furnished just like at home. We had some amazing meals and great memories. We really loved the table for ten on the screened in porch. It easily fit our group plus a few visitors one night. It was a nice surprise to see how nicely the house was stocked with wine and cocktail glasses, board games, beach towels, robes, pool table, card table, fire pit, and a beautiful Weber grill. The three buildings on the property gave people privacy and the ability to come together. Any time I had a question for the owner they were quick to respond.

Everything about my stay with my family at this property exceeded my expectations. Communication with the property manager was great and the amenities at our disposal were fantastic. We are planning a return trip in the summer to full take advantage of the outdoors as our stay was during winter months.

End of Year Recharge

We escaped as a family to relax and recharge from a crazy year. The property gave us the opportunity to rest and recharge in our own spaces and gather together to share meals and enjoy a crackling fire. The spa like amenities were a nice touch to the home (hot tub, infared sauna, robes). Our teenagers enjoyed game room, library, and movie nights while us adults relaxed with a fire and wine. We walked to Douglas Beach and ran to Mt. Baldhead to climb the stairs. We drove to Oval Beach and went sledding and hiked Saugatuck Dunes State Park. We explored local art galleries and visited wineries. There truly is something for everyone at this property!

Guests, have the opportunity to connect, look inward, share stories, make memories, relax, and rejuvenate amongst trees, wildlife, the Dune, and on occasion amongst the sounds of Waves of Lake Michigan. Guests can do as little or as much as they desire. Our setting provides a back drop for guests to have the opportunity to maximize their getaway with little effort. We are close to farm to table dining, coffee houses, craft cocktails, spas, nature trials, marinas, dune rides, art galleries, boutique shopping, book stores, antiquing, beaches, water sports, golf, dune rides, live entertainment, wineries, festivals, and much more.
