A quaint, newly renovated apartment is hiding in this romantic wooden chalet for 2 to 4 people in the center of the Berner Oberland. It’s a place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself. The apartment has a well-equipped kitchen with all that you need to prepare a tasty meal as well as a dishwasher. The updated, but small bathroom has floor heating, a shower and a toilet. The spacious living room, with a sleeper sofa and a big dining room table, invites you to relax. A beautiful wood burning stove rests in the middle of the living room and is used to heat the apartment, adding to the charming atmosphere. The bedroom has a queen size bed and a chest of drawers. The large terrace with a table and chairs, sun lounger and a gas grill is surrounded by meadows and the Swiss Alps, waiting to host a BBQ and relax. The views on the Swiss Alps are stunning and you are close to many amazing attractions, ski resorts, and idyllic Swiss villages. Located on the main road with a bus stop in front of the house, you can get anywhere easily.

We had a really nice stay, The Chalet, is small and simple but has everything you need and so close to many of the hikes or lakes in that area. We enjoyed the table outside to have breakfast there. The only thing that would help the apartment would be to have a door on the bathroom. But we really enjoyed our stay and would come back again!

authentic little house in the tranquil valley

We have spent wonderful 4 days in this little charming small house which was at the process of rejuvenation. Some comments on the infrastructure: the kitchen is well equiped (compliments); the bathroom is comfortable but basic; the dining room is of decent size with dominating wood stove and sofabed which was perfect to sleep for our children; the bedroom is a bit small but cozy. The ceiling height in the house is rather low (but it gives some character). It would be nice if this beautiful and powerful woodstove would have an air intake from the outside as it uses a lot of oxygen from the relatively small room. There is a nice backyard to enjoy calm mornings of the village and mountain peaks around. The house is situated by the valley road, but we found it to be rather accompanying, letting to be inline with the village life and not annoying too much. And last but not least - Frederick is a very attentive and carrying host. All the best, Frederick, with your renovation project bringing back to life this authentic house the wonderland of Swiss Alps.

Lovely quaint chalet

We arrived to the chalet to find the owner already there to show us in and give us a walkthrough of the property. It was during this walkthrough that we were informed that the property did not have WIFI. I always include that as a filter in all my searches so I did not even look to verify on the property description. It does not list WIFI as an amenity (Thanks VRBO). In spite of that, the owners went well out of their way to accommodate us with a SIM card with a local data plan. Thanks Simone and Frederic. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this place and it is perfectly placed for excursions in many directions from Bern to Interlaken as well as Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen.

Vom Gastgeber wurde ich sehr freundlich empfangen. In der Wohnung ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Auch Handtücher, Küchentücher, schöne warme Bettwäsche, alles da. Ich liebe Kaminfeuer, aber es braucht halt Zeit, bis es dann warm ist. Ich habe mich wohl gefühlt und wurde gut betreut. Danke für alles.

Gemütliche Ferienwohnung

Wir haben hier einen sehr schönen Skiurlaub verbringen können. Die Wohnung war sehr gemütlich, der Ofen hat prima gewärmt, die Küche ist super ausgestattet, die Betten waren sehr bequem. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und haben uns mit sehr hilfreichen Tipps versorgt. Vielen herzlichen Dank für die schöne Zeit. Wir können einen Aufenthalt hier sehr empfehlen.

Ein Hauch von Privatsphäre: Die charmante Ferienwohnung ohne Türen...

Die Gastgeberin Simone war freundlich und die Wohnung sauber. Allerdings enttäuschte die Unterkunft in einigen Aspekten. Der Kamin als alleinige Wärmequelle und eine unsichere Heizung im Bad waren bedenklich konnten uns jedoch für das Wochenende warm halten. Zudem überraschte das Fehlen jeglicher Türen, inklusive der Toilette, was die Privatsphäre stark einschränkte. Die fehlende WLAN-Verbindung und eine lange Liste zusätzlicher Kosten trübten den Aufenthalt weiter. Ein angebotener Adapter zu einem überhöhten Preis von 25CHF wirkte unangemessen. Zusätzliche Gebühren für Holz, insbesondere im Winter, wo der Kamin die einzige Wärmequelle war, erscheinen unverhältnismäßig. Eine transparentere Kommunikation über diese Mängel im Inserat wäre angebracht gewesen.

Kurztrip über Silvester

Die Gastgeber sind sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Die Kommunikation verlief absolut unproblematisch. Wir haben die Unterkunft nicht gleich als solche erkannt, da nirgends eine Hausnummer oder ein Schild zu finden war. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet und war für unseren Hund perfekt vorbereitet. Die Deckenhöhe war zunächst etwas gewöhnungbedürftig. Gott sei dank sind mein Partner und ich nicht so groß. :-) Das und die Tatsache, dass noch keine Türen in der Wohnung existieren wäre schön gewesen, wenn es in der Beschreibung stünde. Dafür ist die Küche fast besser ausgestattet als unsere eigene. Man findet alles was man braucht und noch mehr. ;) Es war ein schöner Kurztrip mit tollen Wanderwegen in der direkten Umgebung.

Kleines Haus in landschaftlich schöner Lage

Das innen sehr nett eingerichtete und mit allem notwendigen ausgestattete Haus, macht leider diesen Eindruck von außen gar nicht. Hier wird einfach noch gebaut. Innen fehlen nur noch die Türen zum kleinen Bad mit Toilette und die Tür zum Schlafraum. Der Schlafraum ist sehr niedrig (ca. 1,70m), darauf sollte doch schon in der Anzeige hingewiesen werden. Die Besitzer sind sehr nett. Das Haus ist auch gut für einen Aufenthalt mit Hund(en) geeignet, allerdings ist das Grundstück nicht eingezäunt. Es liegt an einer Verkehrsstraße, wo es aber Nachts ruhig ist. Die Landschaft ist dort traumhaft schön und man kann auch Wanderungen direkt ab Haus unternehmen.

Alles Bestens! Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen! Lage ist großartig für Ausflüge, Ferienwohnung ist sehr sauber und alles vorhanden was man braucht! Erwähnenswert vielleicht das weder Radio noch Fernseher vorhanden ist, was uns aber in keinster Weise gestört hat!

gemütliches kleines Häuschen

Nach der freundlichen Begrüssung bei der Übergabe des Hauses haben wir uns gleich wohl gefühlt. Wir haben alles vorgefunden, was wir für unseren Aufenthalt brauchten. Im Raum Kandergrund gibt es viele Möglichkeiten sich zu beschäftigen/erholen. Sei es mit wandern, baden, chillen, usw. Mit der Gästekarte kann man das Auto auch mal stehen lassen. Die Freundlichkeit der Einwohner ist uns regelmässig aufgefallen. Wir fühlten uns sehr willkommen.

Cute property in good location

Overall good property. Don't judge by street view, inside and backyard are very nice. Large refrigerator/freezer, full size oven and all kitchen utensils are available. Owners are continuing to update. There is no door on the bathroom, which is right off the kitchen. Also, I recommended the owners include internet - as there is none and cell service in Switzerland is expensive.

Frédéric lives in Frutigen, a short drive from the chalet. He loves traditional Swiss constructions and spent a lot of time renovating the chalet which he considers to be a jewel. Frédéric grew up in Germany, France and Switzerland and speaks two languages fluently (German and French). In his free-time he loves hiking, horse back riding and going to medieval markets.
