Unique and Secluded

Family vacation where we planned to ski in Sipapu and Taos, and visit other landmarks. Host is welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. My kids loved the open room concept and the stay in general. The water is delicious (as mentioned by host) and we loved the experience.

Amazing Canyon Hideaway

This house was exactly what we were looking for: secluded and filled with natural beauty. I have always wanted to stay in an earthship house and this one was charming. Plenty of outside space to hike around in the snow with the dogs and really feel a part of nature.

Unique and Unforgettable

We stayed 3 nights in the earthship, and had a great time. It is cozy when the fire is going, and it provides a great outdoor viewing experience. Close enough to Taos for amenities, but far enough away to feel adventurous.

Great for a peaceful relaxing get away

It was a great property. Lots of walking areas on the property as well as not too far from the property. The host was great, and very available throughout our stay, to help with any questions etc.

Wonderful Natural getaway

Garrett was a great host and was able to adjust our stay based on a winter storm that moved in. The place was amazing and felt like you were surrounded by nature. Truly a unique house in a wonderful area. Loved it.

Secluded Oasis

Such a great place to stay in Taos to disconnect. The property owner saved our behinds when we got into a pickle the first day of our stay. He was always available if we needed and had great recommendations for things to do and see. Highly recommend this property if you want to be immersed in the mountains but still close enough to town.

Perfect Getaway

Magical house in magical Taos

This place is truly unique and awesome. We got snowed in for a day, which was mesmerizing- feeding the wood stove and watching the snow was soooo relaxing. Garrett is a great host and this is a uniquely Taos experience- highly recommend!

Truly unique oasis

One of a kind stay with one of a kind host. Garrett was the best host of any property we’ve ever stayed at. Always available but never intrusive. House is a charmer. Wish we could have stayed longer and look forward to returning again in the future.

Great location and host

Really enjoyed our stay at Garrett’s Earth home. You don’t need to drive anywhere for a great hike, it’s right outside the door. Garrett was great and available if needed. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet rustic getaway from the rest of the world. The dogs liked it too!

A place to come back to

The trails and national forest just steps from the front door and unique character of the house cant be beat. I will be sure to return (all the way from Minnesota). We had a great winter stay in and outside of the house. Garret is a kind host and left no worries for us as we settled in.

Beautiful, pristine, and "private" snowshoe trail!

The earthship certainly has a magical feel! We loved the big windows, bird watching just outside, and what felt like our own private snowshoe trail loop right outside the door! Keeping the wood stoves going efficiently was a bit of a challenge for us but we learned and improved over the stay. Garrett was a wonderful and responsive host!

Amazing~

This is the second year we've stayed at the property, and my family loves it! It's become one of our favorite places in the world. We especially love all the hiking that's right out the front door, and the opportunity to engage with the beauty of the natural world. My wife and I and our four children (17,15,12,7) stayed twelve days, and none of us were ready to leave. If you love the outdoors, I can't imagine staying at a better property.

Beautiful spot off the beaten path

Beautiful funky earth ship home up Taos Canyon. Gorgeous quiet locale with aspens, hummingbirds, pines and hiking out the back door. Fire pit for campfire very short walk. Attentive welcoming host. Rooms not fully private due to open design so make sure that works for you.

A beautiful adventure home in a stunning location.

My family loved everything about this home. We loved the antique cast-iron woodstoves and plentiful firewood, the cave rooms, the window wall, the antique kitchen stove, the abundance of birds and natural splendor! And sledding!!! Garrett was a perfect host. Always available but not intrusive. Thank you Garrett, we hope to stay again!

Earthship perfect launching spot for art and nature.

Most unique VRBO that I have ever stay in. If Taos is art. Then the Carson Nation Forest is nature. Garrett's earthship is located 15 minutes from Taos and 15 seconds from the forest. Love the chipmunks, cottontails, hummingbirds, turkey, deer.....

We're a family of three. Dad, mom and nine year old daughter. We spend half our time in Taos and half our time in Santa Fe. Dad is the director of the New Mexico Wildlife Federation and owns and operates an outdoor travel company that sends folks fishing around the world. He is also an outdoor writer and photographer as well as a passionate conservationist, nature lover, bird watcher, naturalist, et cetera. Mom is a real estate broker, chef, baker and designer.
