Welcome to our Big Bear home away from home. GENTLE SQUIRREL is a beautiful cottage getaway nestled 10 minutes from The Village and Ski resorts. Surrounded by nature, the San Bernardino National Forest and Big Bear lake just minutes away. Gentle Squirrel is the perfect getaway loaded with amenities to keep you entertained after a long day. Gentle Squirrel provides fast Wifi, smart TV's, spa, wood fireplace, outdoor gas fire pit and grill. The entire property is just waiting for you.

Xmas fun!

We had everything we needed to have a great family getaway. Jacuzzi for downtime , the village for dinner and a beautiful neighborhood to relax. Definitely will be coming back.

Spacious Cabin

I had a wonderful, relaxing stay. This cabin is very roomy and very clean with so many amenities. From check in to check out everything was handled very professionally by the host that I felt so comfortable staying here by myself. It felt as if I was staying at a friends house. I recommend couples or families to stay here also as there is plenty of room with lounging areas for everyone. I was impressed by all the kitchen supplies that made it so easy to cook all my meals here. I will certainly be back.

Snowboarding trip

Great cabin! Kids had a blast. Super cute space! Hot tub was awesome, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was big and easy to find everything.

Little piece of peace

My family had everything we needed for our cozy stay at gentle squirrel. The jacuzzi was a perfect way to end every night. The bon fire to make s’mores was quaint and lovely. The communication with the property manager was excellent. We spent our entire Christmas here. He loved it! Perfect for a family of four.

My family and I really enjoyed our weekend at this very lovely home. The property was clean, spacious and had all the modern amenities to make our stay very comfortable. The jacuzzi also looked warm and inviting, but sadly we forgot our swimsuit and couldn’t use it. Oh well hopefully on our next visit! The place is centrally located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, near grocery stores, shops and restaurants. I like to add that our host Dayma was wonderful. She was very kind and sweet, communicated well, but was not intrusive at all. I highly recommend this place, and hope to be back again soon! Thank you

Amazing place to stay with incredible owners!

We chose this house based on a quick search and hoped for the best. We were so unbelievably lucky to have stumbled upon this house! The location is amazing and within a short driving distance of big bear and its surroundings. Our kids loved the backyard and fire pit and even enjoyed the hot tub during the cold winter nights! The host was so helpful and checked in one time on our first night and again the night before and wasn’t over bearing or made us feel uncomfortable by constantly checking in but in the same breathe when we did need assistance they got back to us with an answer immediately. I wish there was more then just 5 stars because this owner deserves it the house is beautifully maintained and so homey and we will make this a tradition every year!

Meteor shower

Came up to night sky for star viewing on east end. So clean and comfy beds! Host was attentive and helpful. Very peaceful property.

Relaxing Family Vacation

Gentle Squirrel was so pleasant. Very clean, great extras: the hot tub, outdoor grill, WiFi, NetFlix access, etc. We were really looking for a place to feel like we were just lounging at home without the stress of knowing there were regular home owner responsibilities to attend to and it was definitely that! The kitchen was perfect for making meals and eating family style. We ate in more on vacation than we do regularly!! The location is close enough to town for runs to the grocery store or activities. Hosts were great communicators, even with recommendations for relaxing beach spots. I will definitely seek to stay here again next time I head to Big Bear.

Comfortable and cozy.

This was our second stay at the property. The house was spotless, cozy and comfortable. Our host Dayma was eager to please and even had the porch stocked with firewood. The new hot tub is beautiful, but due the weather we skipped using it this trip. We will definitely rent again. Thank you Dayma

First time in Big Bear

Our stay at gentle squirrel was awesome! As some of the first renters of this VRBO we found everything in working order and it was just right in terms of location to the lake, hiking and town. Would absolutely stay here again!

Clean and quiet

Dayma is a wonderful host. From the very moment we booked the property she was in communication with us. The property was well maintained and very clean. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were very friendly. The completely fenced yard was wonderful for our dog daughter, She loved it. We will definitely be coming back.

Great Time!

Girlfriend and I had a great stay, back patio has room for the dog to play. The hot tub was nice under the stars and the fire pit was gas powered, so no permit required and no restriction to use. The place had plenty of games and corn hole which was also nice.

Home away from home!

Had an amazing time staying here with my family. Very clean, lots of essentials where provided. Nice and private backyard. The hot tub was very relaxing. My kids are already asking when will we return. Will definitely book again!
