Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place on top of Mowbray Mountain, Soddy Daisy, TN. Hiking trails, Stone Fort Rock Climbing, kayaking, and Blue Hole (swimming), 18 hole golf course are all on mountain. Convenient to Dayton fishing tournaments. Chester Frost is 15 minute drive. ROOM FOR BOATS AND TRAILERS ON SITE! EASY IN AND OUT! Downtown Chattanooga is 20 minutes. Dunlap Hang Gliding 20 minutes. Walmart, Food City and several fast food restaurants at base of mountain. Mountain General Store across street. Host decorates seasonally for Fall/Thanksgiving and Christmas.

BOATERS PARADISE! Higher Ground sits on 1.2 acres and provides plenty of room to park boats and trailers. Easy pull in and easy pull out! Convenient to all fishing tournament venues. Outdoor space includes- gas grill, covered picnic table, lighting, corn hole boards, and fire pit with complimentary wood and glider chairs. Lots of shade trees and room for kids to run and play!

Guests may access all areas of the property and house except the detached garage/shed building which is not accessible.

This was the perfect place for our mountain family Christmas. Great location between the city of Chattanooga and the quaint town of Dunlap. We were adventuring everyday, but came back each night to the festive house that had been decorated for the holidays. Weather was cool, and we enjoyed evening fires in the outdoor pit. The house had everything we needed, and Tanna checked in to make sure we were comfortable. She is an excellent host and we would certainly stay here again! Thank you, Tanna!

We loved the location, all the amenities provided, and the house was perfect for our family of 4. The fire pit was great and the host brought us extra firewood! Overall one of the best VRBOs we have stayed at and would book again!

Family get together

We got together for a family birthday party. Everybody came up from Sadie Daisy. It was wonderful.
And absolutely wonderful front and backyard for the kids to play in

Higher ground was the perfect well appointed space for our visit to Chattanooga. The privacy and outdoor space made for intimate and relaxing downtime. Amazing experience

We stayed up on the mountain and it was an amazing experience. It was a little little more time and effort to get down into the city just cause you’re on the top of a mountain, but the quiet atmosphere is totally worth it.

Wonderful Mountain Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Higher Ground, it was everything we were looking for in rental. We most enjoyed the outside area/fire pit and the rental was very baby/toddler friendly! Tanna was great to work with and very responsive.

Awesome Experience

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas vacation at Higher Ground! Our host, Tanna, was amazing! It was easy to communicate with her both before and during our stay. We contacted her for minor things like a question about streaming channels and her advice on restaurants and/or directions. She even suggested a lovely holiday light show for us to visit (we did and it was great).The home was clean and tastefully decorated. We loved the beautiful Christmas tree to help feel the holiday spirit. The home and property were exactly as described and as shown in photos. We hope to return soon in warmer weather so we can enjoy the outdoor amenities.

Great stay!

Spotlessly clean, comfortable place. Comfy couches and recliners, nice outdoor space and screen porch. Across the street from a convenience store, but shop down the hill if you plan to cook.

Great olace just outside of Chattanooga.

The house was very lovely and had all the ammenities of home. Tanna was a great host and communicated several times throughout our trip to ensure we had a great stay. She even made sure we were staying as cool as possible in the high heat. The rooms had extra fans in them which was a nice touch because due to the high heat the AC was having trouble keeping it as cool as we had set. She really thought of everything. I highly recommend staying here.

Great Get-A-Way

Great house! Had everything to make our stay feel like home! Outside had a fire pit with relaxing chairs, grill with picnic table and cooking utensils for hot dogs and s’mores and a hammock! Outside games too! Inside was decorated to make it feel like home. Plenty of cooking pots and pans to make meals. There were board games, WII system and games. Plenty of room to relax and enjoy! Enjoyed every minute!

I was coming to the area to look at rental houses and booked this sweet house on a mountaintop. I was in such a hurry to snatch it up I accidentally paid for it twice. Not an easy thing to do and totally my own stupid fault. Tanna was a saint. She had never had to deal with givig a refund (of course, cause the place is perfect!), but she was patient with me and we learned together!! Multiple text messages and chats with Vrbo and we finally figured it all out. My trip was amazing, and being able to come back to a clean house with comfy everything after a long day of house hunting was a blessing. Our ONLY complaint was the traffic. Nothing Tanna couns do about that, but its a busy little mountaintop!!! Book Higher Ground! You won't regret it! Thank you Tanna!!!

Great place to stay to just relax or see area attractions

We went to Ruby Falls and Rock City Gardens both about 30 minutes away and hiking at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge Trailhead just a mile or two down the mountain from the house. It was a pleasure to come back to a clean, comfortable and welcoming place after a day of activity. The lawn is expansive and the sitting area was a relaxing place to hang outside.

Absolutely wonderful stay at Higher Ground!

The house was precious! I loved the theme of the different bedrooms and the thoughtful decor of each. It was so spacious and comfortable. The house had every amenity we needed, and then some! Tanna was in communication with us throughout and even warned us of severe weather coming in during our stay. If we were to ever find ourselves in Soddy Daisy area again, we would definitely book Higher Ground!

Great base for our sibling weekend with everything we needed

We stayed at Higher Ground for a sibling weekend and we all loved it there. The themed decor, comfortable furnishings, amenities, and outdoor space was perfect for the four of us. We enjoyed using the grill and boardgames one evening, then the fire pit and Adirondack gliders the other. We had plenty of space inside and the unit was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped, and we loved the coffee bar. It is a quick drive over to Chattanooga and less than 15 minutes to great hiking trails at big soddy Creek. The unit is well laid out for groups of adults or families. Our host was great to work with and check in was a breeze. We would definitely stay there again.

Hi my name is Tanna- I am a retired school teacher and I am so excited to be your host at Higher Ground. When I am not hosting, you can find me at Lake Chickamauga, refurbishing furniture, or spending time with my four grandkids! My number one priority is to make your stay at Higher Ground as comfortable, relaxing, and memorable as possible. If you need anything (big or small) I am just a call or text away!

Close to all fishing tournaments in Dayton and Chester Frost in Hixson. Room for boats and trailers to park- easy in and easy out! There is hiking, swimming, rock climbing, golfing, hang gliding, paddle boarding, boating, zoo, aquariums, biking all in close proximity of Higher Ground. If site seeing is not your thing then just hang out and rest at the house enjoying the front porch rockers, screen porch, outdoor grill, fire pit, corn hole boards, badminton/volleyball, hammock, and 1.2 acres. We are infant and kid friendly- portable crib with mattress, high chair, toys, books, and Wii system.
