Excellent property manager

I have rented numerous houses and cabins in the past, but none have been as clean as the condition we found this one in. The cleanliness of the property was the first thing my wife mentioned. The property itself was also very modern. Laura, the property manager, was great to work with and was absolutely accommodating with any request or minor issue we may have had. I will certainly try and reserve one of her properties going forward. Thank you Laura.

Well-stocked, comfortable

3 adults, 5 kids (7-12). Plenty of space. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances and cookware, and a foosball game in the garage. The fireplace is gas but warms the space very well. It was a little bit difficult finding a temperature sweet spot as the downstairs was notably colder than the upstairs space. Parking was fine, but might’ve been a problem if it had snowed - I anticipate that we might’ve gotten plowed in. Across the street is a convenience store that is more of a general store with frequently used groceries. Take towels for the hot springs. The management company listed towels for this purpose, but there were none. They were able to drop off 4, but we needed 8, and to avoid using the white towels as asked, we had to buy towels at the springs.

Our host was great. This space was perfect for our family of 6, 2 of which are toddlers. Very clean and our 4 year old learned how to play foosball in the extra space. Location is perfect.

Mountain Adventure Retreats was founded on a deep-rooted passion for the San Juan Mountains and a shared commitment to excellence in hospitality and property care. The venture began in 2013, sparked by Laura’s long-standing love for Ouray County. A lifelong Coloradan who first discovered the Ridgway and Ouray area in 2001, Laura brought with her an extensive background in business, marketing, and travel management. Her years of experience in the ski and property management industries across North America’s premier destinations provided the foundation for a company built on community and exceptional service.

In 2020, the team expanded when Steve moved from Dallas to join Laura in Ouray County. Steve’s arrival marked the beginning of a new chapter for the company, bringing forty-three years of high-level construction management experience to the team. Having served as Vice President for some of the nation’s top General Contractors, he integrated professional expertise in budgeting, procurement, and project oversight into the company’s property maintenance and caretaking operations. His own connection to the state dates back to 1993, when participating in Ride the Rockies ignited a lifelong passion for Colorado’s dramatic landscapes.

Today, Laura and Steve work side-by-side to lead a dedicated team of professionals focused on delivering top-tier property care. When they aren't overseeing the finer details of a guest's stay or maintaining local residences, they are often found embracing the outdoors together. Whether they are cycling, skiing, hiking, or fishing, they remain inspired by the ever-changing seasons and the rugged beauty of the San Juan Mountains.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

Moose’s Mountain Getaway is situated at the northern edge of Ouray’s historic downtown district, offering a prime location where the charm of the "Switzerland of America" meets the rugged beauty of the Uncompahgre Valley. This neighborhood provides a peaceful transition zone, granting you immediate access to the town's famous amenities while maintaining a slightly more open feel than the dense center of the village. The local atmosphere is defined by dramatic red rock cliffs and snow-capped peaks that tower over the streets, creating a stunning backdrop for your stay. While the area is highly walkable and maintains a quiet, mountainous energy, it is particularly ideal for those traveling with larger vehicles, as the layout offers easier navigation and parking for trucks and trailers compared to the narrow corridors of the historic core.

Just a short, leisurely stroll from your front door, you will find the world-famous Ouray Hot Springs Pool, a sulfur-free relaxation hub perfect for soaking after a day of adventure. The property is also steps away from the scenic Riverwalk Trail and just minutes from the Ouray Perimeter Trail, which offers miles of hiking with panoramic views of waterfalls and canyons. For those looking to explore the local culture, the vibrant shops, craft breweries, and Victorian-era architecture of Main Street are all within a 10-to-15-minute walk. Whether you are visiting for the thundering Box Canyon Falls, the winter thrills of the Ouray Ice Park, or a quiet retreat surrounded by the Uncompahgre National Forest, this neighborhood serves as the perfect home base for a complete San Juan Mountain experience.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Moose’s Mountain Getaway distinguishes itself from other regional listings through a unique combination of modern climate control and expansive social space. While many mountain retreats in the area rely on high-altitude breezes for cooling, this property offers the rare luxury of full central air conditioning, providing a level of year-round comfort that is difficult to find in historic Ouray. This makes it an ideal choice for guests who prioritize a consistent, climate-controlled environment after a day of high-altitude adventure, setting it apart from more traditional or rustic accommodations.

Furthermore, the property maximizes its footprint by offering a dedicated garage game room, a feature that provides a versatile "bonus" area for entertainment and relaxation. This additional living space is a significant advantage for families or groups who need room to spread out—a luxury often missing in the more compact lofts or condos found in the downtown core. Combined with its exceptional proximity to the Hot Springs and its ability to easily accommodate trucks and trailers, this townhome serves as a highly functional home base for active travelers. It balances the practical needs of outdoor enthusiasts with the social amenities of a dedicated vacation home, offering a level of versatility and convenience that is truly unique to the market.
