Jersey City is part of Hudson County’s “Gold Coast,” a cluster of cities on the west bank of the Hudson River, located in NJ across from New York City. Jersey City is surrounded by other bustling urban areas – including NYC, Hoboken, and Weehawken. For a multi-city tour, hop on the PATH for a quick, 10 minute ride into our neighboring cities. Take the Light Rail up and down the Gold Coast into The Heights, McGinley Square, and Journal Square Jersey City; Hoboken, Weekhawken, and other notable cities/townships in Hudson County.

Our beautiful city holds the title of the “Most Diverse City” in the USA. And we are fortunate enough to be located right in the heart of it all. Our home, a century+ brownstone, is located in Historic Downtown, at the boundary between Hamilton Park and Harsimus Cove. We’re situated on a quaint residential street that is safe, private, and quiet – all while remaining a short 5 to 10 walk to everything (and we mean everything!) Experience the diversity and richness of Jersey City’s culture through the many restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs, shops, parks, and more. Catch a movie and do some shopping at Newport Centre, 3 blocks away. Walk down Newark Avenue and Grove Street, which are lined with local eateries and shops, 10 minutes away. Or if you’re up for a longer walk (15 to 30 minutes, depending on the neighborhood), check out the NYC skyline from the Hudson River Waterfront.

Want to stay close to home? Downtown Jersey City is very walkable! We’re located right in Downtown, which is made up of many neighborhoods – all within walking distance of each other. From the historic neighborhoods of Hamilton Park, Harsimus Cove, Powerhouse Arts District, The Village, and Van Vorst Park in Historic Downtown; to the modern neighborhoods of Exchange Place, Paulus Hook, and The Waterfront along the Hudson River Waterfront; to Newport in the-in-between – each neighborhood has its own feel and plenty to offer. Don’t be surprised, as you walk around, to see historical brownstones quickly turn into modern high-rises. Life in Jersey City is always captivating, intriguing, and a rich experience of sensory overload!

For all these big-city amenities, we do have a small-town feel. Historic Downtown is all about community. We’re people-friendly and dog-friendly (don’t be surprised if someone tries to spark up a conversation while you’re out and about!) Engage in some dog-watching at one of the many parks nearby, including two Victorian-age parks. Hamilton Park is named for Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton and is 5 minutes away. Van Vorst Park is named for Cornelius Van Vorst, the 12th Mayor of Jersey City, and is 10 minutes away. There are plenty more parks within a 15-30 minute walking distance. Meet new people, pick up some local produce, and cook up a delicious meal as you visit our farmers’ markets at Hamilton Park, Van Vorst Park, and Grove Street. And don’t forget to take a moment to stop and admire the scenic views – including stately brownstones with beautiful architectural details, elegant skyscrapers with glass fronts, tree-lined streets – and of course, Lower Manhattan.
