Everything is New. Very bright, super spacious 800-square foot suite, cedar gazebo private patio. On 1/3 quiet enclosed acre with a firepit and Adirondack chairs. This is a private entrance with plenty of parking. It is a back entrance walkout daylight garden-floor semi-basement with full 8-foot ceilings.

Professionally designed, with a Queen bedroom with plenty of built-ins and large closet with a featured coal chute wall feature. Open living room with a sofa bed to sleep 3 comfortably. Full Kitchen with an Island and plenty of cupboard and counter surface. Subzero refrigerator and freezer and Miele dishwasher. Wired for induction stove. Comes with Microwave, cooking surface and Keurig. Super great shower with high water pressure. Shared large laundry room right off the entrance foyer. Nearby is downtown Downers Grove. You are one mile to 5 miles of every shop you could want to go to and great malls including Yorktown and Oak Brook. World-class Morton Arboretum is a few miles away.

Enjoy the backyard and watch rabbits, squirrels, chipmucks, cardinals, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and maybe a mallard or Canada Goose as well. One time home of on-property born Black Squirrel. Even racoon, coyote and fox have been seen on a very rare occasion. This is the historical cornerstone home of the neighborhood. Tourists stop to take pictures, even a Harley-Davidson crew on occasion.

Historically recognized property from the 1st 18 Hole Golf Course in America and original home of the Chicago Golf Club. Landmark property less than a block to 3 great food spots, a few miles to your choice of 4 brewpubs or the luxury Oakbrook Center mall. Don’t forget to bask in the sun at one of local beautiful parks! Convenience stores, nail and hair salons, liquor & pizza also located less than a block away! Easy access to all major highways and walking distance to express train to Union Station downtown. Located in the fabulous Northwest suburbs of Chicago a mere 20 minute west of O'Hare Airport.

Ghosted

Reservations made two months prior. Two subsequent communications with host. Showed up to property and it was a mess outside, locked, and host unresponsive. Finally reached host, who was rude and denied knowing of reservation. VRBO great and refunded and compensated me. Host was booted from site.

This person presented themselves with 2 different Vrbo accounts one with just the letter "J". She kept requesting to bring 3 pets and was told clearly that we would not support that request. She then showed up as if nothing was amiss. She then brought her brother in as the only person to talk to who only wanted to be let into the apartment. We had no intention of letting this person use the facility. Vrbo also did not notify me that she had booked the apartment. Vrbo accepted the insurance to cover this stay as we were under a water damage home insurance claim at this time. No one should be allowed to have 2 Vrbo accounts and certainly not with just a letter for a name. She posted the exact same queries in both accounts leading us to feeling this was another variant of scams that seem to rampant in these platforms. We are not booted from Vrbo or AirBNB. We have removed our listing from being available until further notice.

A few problems but overall good

The neighborhood is great, we like Downer’s Grove. There is a decent bar on this street within walking distance. The people who own the house are nice and even sent our laundry out for us which was appreciated. We believe they sincerely want to provide a good place to visit. Issues: The mattress needed to be replaced and there is no stove or washer/dryer. You can hear people walking around above but it’s not a dealbreaker. We understand they are replacing the mattress which will make a big difference. We would recommend the place if that has been changed out.

The house is in a perfect location to travel into the city and Chicago suburbs. The rental unit is private and well updated with great, accommodating hosts. Great place to stay!

Empty nesters with a fabulous home and rich property story to tell. A German man and his Uncle built the 2-story garage with a chimney to live in while the house was built circa 1931. The family lived here for 3 generations. Then a family raised 3 children here for 20 years and made the garden apartment you will stay in by taking the basement down 2 feet and making it new home ready in 2003. It was completely rebuilt with all new hot water boiler, hot water heater, new sump pumps and ejector pump. New insulation, electric, plumbing, interior walls and doors in 2025. You have a dedicated cedar gazebo-covered porch over a 10,000-gallon water conservation tank. There are 2020 new windows in the entire house.

This heavily shaded property has full-grown Elm, Locust, Walnut, Pine and Fir trees yet has an open fire pit area with Adirondack chairs for an evening outside under the stars in a quiet back yard. Stay on the grounds that came out of America's first 18-hole golf course, become a block sized Apple Orchard and is now a neighborhood landmark. On an oversized 1/3-acre property. Curb appeal for days. Bikers stop and take pictures. Neighbors beg to get a look inside. But you get to stay and enjoy it all to yourself.
