Escape on Lake is your small lake-town getaway in the heart of Detroit Lakes, MN. Remodeled in 2021, this 1915 built two bedroom, two bath home features an updated and spacious, fully supplied kitchen for cooking, large soaking tub for relaxing, beautifully tiled shower, central air and access to a full size washer and dryer on the main floor for guests throughout their stay. We are a dog/kid-friendly home and are walking distance to the Detroit Lakes city beach, boat access, hospital, hockey arena and many local restaurants/bars. It is perfect for a family getaway, Thomas Dambo troll hunter enthusiasts or a small gathering of friends.

KITCHEN:
Our kitchen is complete with seating for five and includes a dishwasher, microwave and electric range. We have an additional card table and chairs for you to use throughout the duration of your stay. We provide basic small appliances (crockpot, blender, toaster, keurig coffee maker, griddle) for you to use as well as basic cooking spices and oils. Complementary tea, coffee, cream and sugar is provided as well.

LIVING SPACE:
Our living area has a television, sofa couch and a trundle day bed complete with two twins for additional sleeping space. We provide board/card games, children's toys and books for guests to use during their stay. Guests are able to use their own streaming accounts on our televisions.

MAIN FLOOR BATHROOM:
The main floor bathroom is complete with a spacious large vanity, full size washer and dryer and beautifully tiled shower. Dryer pods and bounce sheets are provided for guests in addition to towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We also provide a blow dryer, disposable face wipes, tooth picks and q-tips for guests to use.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS:
Upstairs you will find two bedrooms complete with queen beds in each room. One bedroom is complete with a television and the second bedroom has space for a twin air mattress or pack and play (both provided). Black out curtains and shades are provided as well as a noise machine. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and additional heaters for your comfort during the cold and hot months to keep guests comfortable.

UPSTAIRS BATHROOM:
This beautiful updated bathroom features a large soaking tub to enjoy during your stay. Bath salts, kids body and hair wash, infant bath tub and towels are provided for guests to use.

OUTDOOR SPACE:
Our back patio is complete with an outdoor sectional, dining table and chairs for 6, propane grill and fire table, yard games, beach toys/chairs and more!

DOGS:
We are a dog-friendly short term rental and allow our guests to bring dogs for a small additional fee. We ask that guests read our rules on dogs prior to booking. We provide disposable waste bags for pets, treats and water bowls for dogs to enjoy during our stay.

The house was adorable. Walking down to the lake was probably my favorite thing and the parks all over just a few blocks away. We were traveling as a family with my grandchildren.And the height, chair and pack and play came in very handy. Did all of our cooking at the house and everything we needed was there. I will plan on staying at this cute little house again.

The host was great at communicating - he responded right away and also provided a very nice welcome manual with all of the information about the house and town. The house was ideally located - within blocks of the lake, city park, grocery store, and downtown area. The house itself was beautifully renovated and had two large bathrooms (one with a free standing tub!). The kitchen was huge and stocked with everything you could possibly need. There was a closet full of toys for kids of all ages (and adults). This is a super comfortable home that the owners have put a lot of time and love into. I'd highly recommend it to anyone coming to Detroit Lakes, and I'll definitely stay here the next time I come back!

Very cute house. The bathrooms were beautiful, could use another shower, but the tub was nice also. Kitchen was fully stocked and had things you don't expect to find! Close to the lake,bars,and restaurants . We all throughly enjoyed our stay!

This was a lovely home and perfect for our friends, our small dog, and us. It had a great entryway, beautiful kitchen with a keurig and dishwasher, and a full bathroom on the main floor with washer and dryer. There were two comfortable queen-sized beds, soft linens, and lots of pillows plus a second bathroom upstairs. We were able to walk to Zorbaz, and Lakeview, both of which had outdoor seating and excellent food. Chris was a great communicator, making check-in and check-out easy. We would recommend this house and will stay here again if we find ourselves in Detroit Lakes MN.

We had a relaxing, fun and mostly stress free stay with 3 adults and 2 teenagers. The kitchen had everything we needed and beds were comfy and cozy. The patio was wonderful to have a cup of coffee or relax after troll hunting. We also loved that this place was dog friendly! All the little touches here really made it feel like home away from home. My wife and I enjoy using VRBO to see places and experience new things. We decided to become hosts after experiencing how wonderful and comfortable traveling is when using VRBO and felt that we could continue to enrich our fantastic little community by becoming hosts!

I have lived in Detroit Lakes for the last severals years and am a local Chiropractor. My wife is a stay at home mom to our two little ones who are one and three. We enjoy all the fun things that our small town has to offer year round. Some of our hobbies include; spending time with our rescue pup and kids on the many beautiful lakes, cooking healthy meals, biking, reading and participating in our community by attending different community events and volunteering through a local organization. We are always looking forward to our next adventure.
