Family Vacation

Wondering place to stay with the family for the week beach access was right there with in walking distance from porch. We enjoyed our stay .

Topsail is a beautiful island

The house was a perfect beach cottage, we had a wonderful Easter weekend here with a visit from our Marine. Things I didn’t like, no linens, and the huge sand dune in front of the house and not being able to see the beach from the porch. Otherwise, it was a nice stay.

Review

Not very clean, misleading on number of beds on VRBO ad and what was actually in house. We saw dead cockroaches on first day and the live ones at end of week. Misleading on beach access photos and description made it seem like access was directly across from back deck and they were done road a bit. Nice little nook and quiet.

This place had cockroaches, we found multiple dead ones within the first couple minutes. The wall with the air conditioner had been wet and warped. There was hair in the shower. The front sliding door wouldn’t open and had water inside of it. The whole house felt wet. Our things felt wet within an hour of being there. You are close to the ocean but you can’t see the beach from your front porch. We contacted the manager (who was great) and she moved us to another property. But it also had cockroaches and was across the street from the ocean. Overall disappointed in the properties ability to offer pest control options and the pricing doesn’t reflect the conditions of the properties that they rent!

Has potential to be great

This place has a lot of greats to it. Location, updates, fully stocked kitchen, laundry, outdoor shower, and view of the ocean. However there were a lot of not so greats to it. Upon first glance and looking at photos, it seems like a clean and quaint place. Once you get a moment to deep dive, not so much. The downstairs queen bed had yellow stains on the mattress cover, the dresser drawers had to be vacuumed out with all the hair and dust, the recycling bin had left over food in it, and the dryer doesn’t actually have a vent outside so all the lint just blows off to the side. We frequently saw cockroaches (dead and alive) and an upstairs window was left open so when we arrived there were large flies everywhere. The fridge was dirty and not cleaned out and the freezer was covered in frost making it difficult to close. The shower head had hardly any pressure making it difficult to rinse properly. Overall, the stay was okay. We frequent the island often so maybe we have been spoiled with our other properties we stayed at. With some upgrades and more attention to detail, this house could be a wonderful stay.
