Cozy, unique, historic registered cottage on the Corsica River!

The Captains Quarters was built in 1880 by local waterman, Captain John H. Osman. The Captain built 4 identical houses for the Captains of his fleet to enjoy. The Captains Quarters is registered with the Maryland National Historical Trust. This unique and cozy home takes you back in time, all while enjoying all of the modern amenities. Our guests can expect to enjoy coffee on the patio overlooking the Corsica River, games and a bar in the brick floor basement and tons of relaxation!

Steep and Narrow Stairs: The stairs in our home are original to the building and are both steep, narrow, and winding.

Use Caution: We strongly advise all guests to exercise caution when going up and down the stairs to prevent accidents or injuries.

Interesting and historic home. Convenient to paths and Centreville restaurants and historic sites.. Quiet neighborhood. Peaceful deck overlooking river for coffee in the morning. Property exactly as described.

It was the coolest historical home ever! Well-appointed in every facet. Enjoyed the balcony and the comfortable Kracken's lair for our downtime. Very cozy bedroom. We visited Tilghman Island, St. Michaels, Preston, Kent Island Yacht Club for the Concours d'elegance and Harris Crab House. Highly recommend!

Unique, cozy, quiet

The property is tiny but lovely. Perfect for two people, maybe 3 in a pinch. The interior of the home is really well done, and the setting, on the edge of a river, is beautiful.

The house is so unique and charming. All the comforts of home in a friendly quiet neighborhood. Host was very friendly and prompt in responding to questions. We would love to stay here again!

It's a beautiful property and I'm so happy that I booked and stayed at this property -- it was just as attractive as the photos depicted. However, I'm glad that the hosts warned about the accessibility issue which was an issue. The stairs are extremely tight and even with very sturdy hand grips and treads -- very precarious. I'm in my late fifties and blind in one eye plus some balance issues and I had a hard time with the stairs. Entry to the house is on the middle floor and the full bath is on the upper level and a half bath is on the lower level -- so any time you needed to use the bathroom, you had to navigate the stairs. The other issue I had was communication with the host which wasn't great. I think the last messages exchanged were Friday before my Sunday check-in. I messaged that I would arrive between 3:00 - 3:30 but I didn't receive a code to open the door or instructions for how to pull into the driveway which is not obvious -- had to get out and walk it before I could figure out where to go. I didn't know how to get in and it happened that the next door neighbor had the code and let me in but if she hadn't been home, I would have simply been stuck locked out. I didn't have another way to contact the host -- communication had seemed okay up until that point but this was a real problem.

Never stayed at the property because we didn’t receive the access information until 8 hours after the posted check in time. Emails and phone calls by myself and VRBO went unanswered
