This home is right in the heart of the South Main District. You will be mere steps from the river access and with miles of hiking and mountain biking trails right out the front door. Walk over to the best restaurants, breweries, and shops that Buena Vista has to offer. Feel like staying in and relaxing? Start your day off with a cup of coffee or tea on us, stream your favorite shows with our incredibly fast Wi-Fi, play some board games, or cook up a delicious meal in our fully stocked kitchen. My family had a wonderful time here at this home and in Buena Vista. This home is in close proximity to the Arkansas river - our favorite place to hang out. Also there is a nice brewery, bakery, and bike shop next door. Main Street is only a 20 min walk. The owners were wonderful and available for any questions and suggestions. It was a warm weekend so the A/C was appreciated!

Great short stay

We had a great long weekend! The location was absolutely perfect! Property was just as described. It would be just right if you’re coming with kids - they have everything to suit the needs of a small family! Not ideal for 6 adults maybe (we ran short on glasses every day), but overall I definitely recommend this Property!

Fantastic Once Again

This is our 2nd time to stay at "Beat the Heat" on South Main in Buena Vista. We love that area and we love staying at Amanda's place. Always easy to work with, always clean and updated. Always a relaxing, joyful time with our family. Legit 5 stars!

Memorable spring break

We had a wonderful stay. The location with walking distance to great restaurants? Coffee shop,hotel restaurant and bar and cool shops was a huge plus. Check in and out was a breeze and the property was probably the most well stocked condo we have ever rented. There is so much to do in Buena Vista. We can't wait to come back.

Would stay again!

Such a great location and comfortable home. You can tell the owners put a lot of effort in the upkeep. They were very prompt responding to snow removal on slippery steps which was very appreciated. The coffee bar was such a great touch.

You really can’t beat the amenities or the location of this place. The bed is so incredibly comfortable, the coffee station was lovely, and there’s a ton of space to spread out. And South Main in BV is magical. Great shops, food and drinks are all just a stone’s throw away — as is the cities network of trails around the river. We’ll be back!

Buena Vista property

We enjoyed the property, well equipped and great location. However almost every other house in the area had a porch. Buena Vista in summer is a place to spend as much time as possible outdoors. There was no front porch in the pictures and because of that, we assumed there would probably be one on the back of the house. Sorry. That was our only disappointment.

Awesome Property--Again!

It was so nice to be here again. Shane and Amanda are great hosts, and willing to jump in and help with even the oddest requests (eg., how to solve for an Amazon delivery that got caught up at the local post office). We've stayed here before, and we'll stay here again. Awesome property!

Clean and very nice

This was a terrific place to stay. It was incredibly clean. The only suggested adjustment...it's pretty normal to not have AC at the higher elevations in CO. But if you're not going to have AC, please at least place screens on the windows so that at night the cool air can circulate through the house without bugs. Some nights it was a bit like camping given the bugs. Honestly, though, that is the only non positive comment, as the home was so clean, new, beautiful, well-stocked, everything worked, and it was incredibly convenient. We would stay here again, and we likely will. We'll be a lot happier with window screens! Thank you!

Lovely Place on the River Walk

We enjoyed our stay in BV! The location was super walkable and we enjoyed doing the river loop hike and fly fishing on the river. The townhouse had everything we needed and we very much appreciated the game closet!

Spring Break Stay

Our stay was excellent! Perfect for families traveling with young kids as theirs a high chair, pack and play and toys. Location is fantastic as were the beds and touches in the bathroom. Very clean!! Overall 5 stars, however it is in fact not 3 bedrooms as listed. This was in part our fault as we filtered listings by 3 bedrooms (the house shows up as it is listed this way) and did not look at the pictures close enough. The “third bedroom” is actually a pull out in the living room. So for accuracy’s sake it has two bedrooms, four beds. This was unfortunate for us since two family members had to end up staying somewhere else since they needed an actual bedroom. The stay was so wonderful and because it was partly an overlook on our ends, we still give it 5 stars! Will not work for people needing 3 bedrooms, but does work if all you need is an extra bed.

LOVE the Riverhouse Retreat!!

This home has everything you could ever need. My teenagers played chess and checkers, my husband went fly fishing and we were right next door to a great food at the Eddy line brewery. We walked to the surf hotel and listen to live music as well as walked down East Main to the shops and restaurants. We loved our time there and I would highly recommend this beautiful place. We are Shane and Amanda Glazier. Shane and his family have been visiting this area of the mountains since he was born! Now, we are carrying on the tradition with our kids.

We enjoy everything from hiking, mountain biking, surfing the river, and climbing to relaxing at Mount Princeton Hot Springs, feeding the chipmunks at St. Elmo and feeding the trout at the Chalk Cliff Fish Hatchery.

We adore Buena Vista and can't wait to hear about your adventures in this quaint, unique mountain town.

We chose this area due to the close proximity to world class hiking and mountain biking trails mere steps away from the front door. We are a short walk to the Arkansas river that boasts some of the best fly fishing in Colorado and some of the most exhilarating white water rafting in the United States! There is even a new river surfing wave called Pocket Wave that was built in the fall of '25'! It is fun to walk along the river to watch the river surfers on the various surfing waves!
Another reason why we chose this property in the heart of South Main is the convenient and charming shops and restaurants in the area. It is enjoyable to walk the shops on East Main Street and to try out the best cuisine that Buena Vista has to offer! There are also a plethora of boutiques with lots of artisan goods and many handmade creations from our talented locals. Besides the limitless outdoor activities and shops in the area, the breathtaking mountain views of Colorado's tallest peaks are reason enough for this location.
