Hi Karen, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. As you know, we do always recommend having a car to really get the most benefit from the Chamonix Valley with all its variety of scenery and skiing, There is a regular bus service from the bottom of the road to all the different ski areas and Les Houches ski area is very close. Also, the Carrefour 600m from the chalet in the village delivers groceries for a small fee, so you didn't need to carry them up the hill. It is a relatively new service but is very convenient as you can order food for the night of your arrival. Kind Regards Emma

Hi Theresia, thank you for your fair review. I am glad that a few little things did not spoil your enjoyment of our chalet. We do try to address little things that happen, as they arise, and buy or order anything that has been broken but sometimes things take time to arrive and we have to find an available window for repair. We do listen our guests' feedback and do regular improvements. We spent several weeks Nov/Dec 2025 doing some TLC which we really enjoyed as we love staying in the chalet too. We upgraded the kitchen with a new cooker hood and splashback, re-painted the kitchen cupboards, re-varnished the worktops, re-grouted the kitchen tiles and bought a new pressure cooker, cooking pans and replaced any missing cutlery and crockery. We also re-painted the ground floor hallway, varnished the wooden spiral stairs and laid new floor tiles there. This has all added to the quality feel of the chalet and we are planning another TLC visit in April 2026. I hope that you do return sometime in the future. We would be very happy to welcome you back!

It is very upsetting for us to get such a 'poor' review, as we were under the impression that we had dealt with the hot water problem promptly and the guests were happy. When Janine and her friends arrived they seemed very happy with the chalet and e-mailed me mid-week to say 'We are enjoying your beautiful house and the surroundings here'. In that e-mail she also said that the hot water had just gone off and that one of the toilet flushes did not seem to be working. Andrei, our chalet manager, went that day to look at the boiler (which is only 2 years old and serviced every year, so is usually very reliable) and WC cistern. He found and fixed an error code on the boiler, so it fired up again and the cistern on the toilet needed a plumber, so we booked one in to fix it. 2 days later there was a problem with the mains water supply which affected all the chalets along our road and the water company took a few hours to remedy the problem. We responded promptly to sort out the hot water initially, it was very unfortunate that there was then a second, water board issue that was completely out of our control. Luckily at that time, most of the guests were out skiing. I was in regular contact with Janine and other members of her group whilst we sorted out the hot water, because we know this is very important. We thought we had dealt with everything quickly so there was minimal impact on their holiday. We were not made aware of any ants, weird smells and hot tub issues until the review went up. The hot tub is cleaned and the water changed at the start of each holiday. Andrei was at the chalet sorting out the hot water and none of these things were mentioned to him. If they had been he could have dealt with them. Ants can find their way into the chalet occasionally, but they are easily stopped with powder; the hot tub has slow releasing chemicals in to keep it clean, but if it is heavily used during the week it can get cloudy towards the end, but we need to be informed to be able to adjust the ph levels. We must stress that we are set up to resolve any issues the same day as we appreciate that things can malfunction from time to time.

Merci beaucoup pour la critique 4 étoiles Alain, notre gérant de chalet(Valentin) nous a dit que vous avez vraiment aimé votre séjour. En ce qui concerne les points que vous avez faits. La terrasse autour du chalet a été remplacée il y a 3 ans à l’aide de bois de melezes de taille non standard provenant d’une scierie locale et une grande partie du balcon a été remplacée l’an dernier à l’aide d’arbres nouvellement tombés. Nous utilisons toujours ce bois de style, de sorte qu’il reste en harmonie avec le caractère rustique du chalet et en harmonie avec son environnement immédiat, qui est bois naturel. C’est un style esthétique que nous avons choisi, pas une mauvaise menuiserie ou un manque d’entretien. Vous pouvez voir clairement représenté dans toutes les photos et les gens choisissent souvent le chalet pour ce caractère / raison. Il est très rare de recevoir des plaintes au sujet de la propreté que notre directeur de chalet est très fier dans le chalet et a été s’en occuper depuis 3 ans. Malheureusement, à cette occasion, le chalet a été irrespectueusement laissé dans un désordre terrible par nos clients précédents qui ont également quitté le chalet bien après 10h du matin, donc le nettoyage a pris beaucoup plus de temps que nous nous attendions normalement. Nous sommes désolés si certaines choses ont été manquées par la suite; les siphons de douche, les fenêtres extérieures et les filtres de lave-vaisselle auraient normalement été vérifiés, mais ils auraient pu être les derniers sur la liste. Soyez cependant assurés que si quelque chose ne répondait pas à votre norme, vous n’aviez qu’à dire que la communication est la clé. Valentin vit à proximité, vous aviez ses coordonnées de sorte qu’il était facilement accessible pendant votre séjour et aurait été seulement trop disposé à corriger tout ce que vous aviez demandé. Si vous ne le mentionnez pas, nous ne pouvons pas le rectifier pendant votre séjour. Comme il s’agit d’un chalet très populaire avec une forte utilisation, nous l’entretenons et l’améliorons tout le temps, récemment repeindre l’ensemble du chalet, la rénovation de deux nouvelles salles de douche, l’installation d’une nouvelle chaudière et l’achat de nouveaux matelas. Des meubles, du linge de lit et des serviettes sont également ajoutés/renouvelés fréquemment. Cordialement Steve

Thanks for the lovely revue Priti. The chalet was originally designed as a family home and we have tried in the most part to keep that relaxed feel to it. However, we have had a few comments about the bedroom doors not fully closing - they push shut and have thick rope handles in keeping with the chalet. So we have now brought a load of authentic 'gate' style lever latches, which will allow the doors to be closed more securely. The chalet has three external doors and one of the door handles and locking mechanism got broken by a previous guest and we have booked a lock smith to come and repair / replace it. Unfortunately things do get broken during holidays, but we respond as quickly as we can. The chalet is situated in a very quiet, safe area and we never lock it when we stay there with our family, but we fully understand some guests do prefer to lock it. Steve and Emma

Toutes mes excuses si le sol n'était pas «hyper clean», notre nettoyeur habituel était absent cette semaine-là et nous venons de re-vernir tous les sols, alors peut-être qu'ils n'ont pas été nettoyés à notre norme habituelle. Nous fournissons deux réfrigérateurs sous plan d'une capacité équivalente à celle d'un grand réfrigérateur double hauteur, ce qui est généralement suffisant.
