Hale Kona Kai 311 - Ocean and Lagoon Views

Hale Kona Kai unit 311 - This unit overlooks a lagoon on the north side of the building as well as an open ocean view, looking out into Kailua Bay. Enjoy peaceful relaxation from the lanai every day! The sound of the surf will wash all your troubles away. Spinner dolphins can be seen year around. Humpback whales come in close to shore with their calves during winter. You can watch them at play right from your lanai.
Hale Kona Kai is a hidden gem, an absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condominium located off the main road (Alii Drive) providing for quiet, ocean-view relaxation from every unit. Neighboring Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining may be found just a two-minutes walk to Huggo's or Don the Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away. Other great dining and entertainment, shopping and beaches are just a short stroll. You will find the white sand of Honl's Beach less than a quarter-mile to the south and the Kona Farmer's Market just a half-mile to the north.
The complex offers an elevator providing easy access for everyone. On the ocean side, you will find an oceanfront swimming poo. BBQ is located at the south end of the complex. Laundry machines are available on each floor.
Each unit offers assigned parking, secure WIFI, & cable TV. All units, including lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is a non-smoking facility.

Very good overall but no change machine for quarters to operate laundry machines. No one on site in the office to make change either.

Excellent location, clean condo, has everything you need

The condo was in a great location, walking distance to everything on the main strip. Excellent view of the ocean. The pool is small but clean and has a great view of the sunset. I would definitely stay here again. The only negative I can point out is the vents were very dirty and could use a good cleaning and the condo smelt a bit musty when we got there. Other than that 5 stars!

Great spot

We stayed for a second time at this property for a week in January. We really enjoy being able to walk to our favorite spots for happy hours. Everything worked great, it was nicely decorated and very clean. Hope to be back soon.

Great Location

We have stayed in this complex several times and love the location. This unit is very nice! The rental agency is very accommodating and leave a good amount of supplies to get you started.

Right on Ali'i Drive, just past the Ironman village, close enough to walk to the race and far enough to be quiet and peaceful.

It was convenient for us and a nice view and ocean sounds. It was comfortable. The manager did have a fan that was stuck on fixed the next day.

Great place. Location is the best

Wonderful place. Very clean, comfy bed, kitchen had anything we needed. Location is the best, we had our own parking spot, thats a plus. Had chairs for the beach and that was nice. All around We loved it. I would highly recommend this condo.

Well equipped condo in a great location

Stayed for 6 nights and the place had everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere. Fans, beach towels and chairs, kitchen items. Great place if you like to listen to the ocean, fantastic for sleeping! Easy walk to most of the Kailua Kona strip and easy to drive to other places since it is on the less busy end of Alii Road.

Just what I needed!

I live here on Island but at the last minute I decided I wanted a quite Christmas on the ocean. This place was perfect! The unit was clean and comfortable. The grounds were clean and I felt safe. A short walk to all the restaurants on Ali'i Dr. The sunsets from the pool were beautiful! My favorite part was listening to the waves on the lani and inside while I slept. I saw a whale and dolphins while sitting on the lani! ♥️

Couldn’t be better

Ocean View exceptional, pool small but pristine, assigned parking a wonderful bonus, elevator 15 steps from condo and from parking, great eating and drinking nearby. We’ll try to come again! Mahalo.

Kilauea week!

We've been to the Kona area numerous times. The Hale Kona Kai is the centrally located for any activity. We had a room with the lagoon view. Beautiful. Unbelieveable proximity to snokeling & relaxing on the beach.(a whole 3_ minute walk). We look forward to our next visit.

Little gem overlooking lagoon

The condo is beautifully apportioned with fully stocked kitchen, linens, towels, blankets and anything you need for your stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The view from the lanai is wonderful and the A/C in the bedroom was great. Go to sleep with the sound of the waves and the small chirping frogs.

Last minute booking, Excellent

We booked this property last minute. Due to a change in our flights we extended our stay on the Big Island and had to find last minute accommodations. We were pleasantly surprised with our choice. The unit is in the perfect location, easy to find and the views from the deck did not disappoint. The kitchen was very well stocked with good quality utensils and cookware. The linens were high quality and very well stocked. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. The building itself is a bit old but is well maintained. The patio at the front of the building is perfect to enjoy the beautiful sunsets! Our stay was absolutely perfect. A solid 10/10.

Fun in the sun

We've stayed in 3 different condos at Hale Kona Kai, they have all been exellent so far, you cant beat the beautiful sun sets and the location is excellent!

Lack of air conditioning

According to the maintenance staff, the air conditioning system has not worked correctly in three years. Constantly breaking down. More time down than working. Had we not had a swamp cooler in the bedroom, the entire unit would have checked out and sought other accommodations; like some of the other guests did. Because of the heat and humidity, we were not able to use the oven and used the stove in a limited capacity. And we spent most of our time "hiding" in the only cool room in the unit. A spectacular view is worthless if you never want to be in your expensively rented accommodation. We want to visit the "Big Island" again. But we would only return to the Hale Kona Kai if the AC were "properly, permanently" repaired RENTER BEWARE

Charming condo unit but Oceanview not Oceanfront

Positives: Location to Kona retail area, provided beach chairs/towels/cooler/boogie boards, wonderful assortment of books about the local area, lots of kitchen equipment, and the unit was charmingly decorated. Improvement areas: This is an ocean view with the direct view being the Royal Kona Hotel, not an oceanfront unit. Also the balcony is directly over the outdoor massage gazebo and occasionally we saw more than we wanted to.... We knew that the AC was not working, but having stayed "oceanfront" at other places in Kona in the past, thought we would have oceanfront breezes, so this adversely affected our comfort, especially at night.

Clean and Beautiful

I thought the unit was very well maintained, especially for being located right on the water. I was able to find almost everything I could need right away. (Except the bedroom fan remote! I searched and only found it in the bedside table the day I was leaving). The views were awesome. We did stay near some pretty loud neighbors unfortunately, the walls / doors let you hear quite a bit that's happening out in the hall and other rooms.
