Family Friendly Cabin
Please note the cabin comfortably sleeps 4 adults plus kiddos. If you would like to have more than 4 adults, please get prior approval before booking.

The Property
Situated on an acre of land backing up to the headwaters of the American River, enjoy exploring our meadow, forest and riverfront.

Highway 50 & Parking
Please note that the cabin is *on* Hwy 50 which does mean there is some highway noise. It also means we have exceptional road access in winter, and if you're coming from the Sacramento area, we are a shorter drive than the basin. Note that there is parking in the driveway for two vehicles but *no* garage access.

Sierra at Tahoe
We are on Echo Summit as opposed to being in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This means we are 1 mile from the entrance of the Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort!

Echo Lakes
One mile away is Echo Lakes, which accessible in the summer, are some of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the region with a relatively easy hiking trail.

Kitchen - Living - Dining
Open concept with cozy space centered around the fireplace. Living and dining seating for 6.

Back Deck
From the living room, enter the very large deck that is up above the meadow behind, overlooking the headwaters of the American River. Here, you'll find the hot tub (year round) plus fire pit (also year round, but propane does not flow in too cold of weather) plus seasonal outdoor dining with BBQ grill and outdoor living room seating in the summer.

California King Bedroom
The primary bedroom features a Cal King bed with new Casper mattress in fall 2025. Large bathroom with two sinks, a soaking tub and shower with two showerheads. This room also features an office nook with a monitor for remote work.

Queen Bedroom
With direct access to the hot tub area, this bedroom also features a wall mural topo of our nearby wilderness. The mattress is also a new Casper mattress replaced in fall 2025. This room shares a bathroom with the bunk room.

Kids Bunk Room
Twin bunk beds and a closet full of toys and a pack 'n play make this room perfect for kiddos. This room shares a bathroom with the Queen room.

Laundry/Entry
Plenty of space for you to store your skis and hiking boots by the front door + a full laundry room stocked for your use.

Our Renovation
We purchased the cabin in 2016 and worked pretty much every weekend to fully renovate the interior. We then lived full time at the cabin for a few years (with the help of great friends!) before relocating and beginning our time as hosts. We absolutely love sharing the cabin and are so thankful that everyone treats it as they would their own home :)

Do all dishes and feel free to leave the dishwasher running upon exiting.

My daughter and I stayed here for a long weekend getaway while attending a concert. The cabin’s location was perfect for exploring South Lake Tahoe while also being secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of its natural surroundings. Check in was a breeze and the cabin was meticulously clean- which we appreciated. Beautifully decorated throughout, gorgeous bathrooms and all the kitchen amenities you could need. There are 3 TVs and a large assortment of movies for entertainment as well as Roku for online access to your own services. Great WiFi connectivity. There is a wall air conditioner that quickly cooled the main rooms and lots of fans, if needed. With the sliding door and windows open in the evening, the whole place cools down nicely for sleep. Would highly recommend!

Very well maintained

This cabin was very clean and modern. Our kids and us loved staying here and felt very comfortable. The kids room was awesome!

AWESOME Cabin!

While this is booked as Echo Summit "Cabin" it is definitely more of a house! So much room, elegantly laid out, attention to detail is obvious, and the host was terrific. Check-in and check-out process were easy, there was a book in the kitchen that explained both - as well as all the local "to-do's" and places to visit, which was very helpful! Great hiking trails within minutes (check out Lower Echo Lake - unbelievably beautiful. Short scenic drive to South Lake Tahoe, little shops and diners are very close by as well. Would 100% stay here, the place was beautiful and the owner Megan was fantastic!

Beautiful Stay

This cabin was amazing. The decor was a modern cabin chic that blew my mind. There are Before and After photos of the remodel in the guest binder. You can tell it was a remodel that was done with a lot of care and thought. We loved the floor plan, the artwork, the furnishings, the fixtures, the appliances, the hot tub and the setting. I also appreciated the binder that the property owners made with instructions, expectations and ideas in it. We used the grill nearly every night. It was clean and worked perfectly. The long dining table gave us a lot of room to work on projects, play games and set up our laptops. There were some very nice touches… linens, bath mats, baggies. In the property description, the owners make it very clear that the cabin is on the highway, which makes it easy to get to and from, but the sound of vehicles never lets you completely forget that civilization is just down the road…which did not bother me at all. It was a magical stay. I will do it again.

Great stay in the snow!

What a wonderful place to stay cozy during this extra snowy season. We played games, watched movies, and cooked great food in a well-appointed kitchen, enjoying the beautiful snow-views. Thank you again.

Let it snow!

Took my daughters to Tahoe for a ski weekend and stay at this beautiful property. It is exactly as described and exceeded expectations. We ran into some severe weather and both communication and support from the property manager and owner was appreciated. Would love to come back in the future.

5 star hotel treatment

The property is pristine. The floor plan is really practical. The master suite feels luxurious. Quiet and nice backyard. My only suggestion would be to replace the foam mattress in the 2nd room which was not as comfortable as the other beds.

Amazing spot at the summit

Our family had a great stay. The cabin is well appointed and located within about 10-15 min from Sierra at Tahoe. There is plenty of space for little ones to play in the snow in the backyard and the hot tub is a great plus. I particularly appreciate the effort to make this stay kid friendly (toys/games, bunk bed, covers on outlets, etc.) The welcome book describes all of the work the owners put into the cabin and is quite impressive. We will certainly be back!

Very cute cabin close to Sierra

Came to this cute little cabin for a weekend with the family. Megan was great at communicating with us and trying to keep the property usable during a big storm. The house is really cute and nicely updated. I love that the welcome binder included before and after pics to show how much work they've put into their place. The location is great, literally minutes from Sierra at Tahoe! The house had all of the essentials and was nice and tidy when we arrived. Thank you Burtons for sharing your home with us! ❤️

Awesome spot!

The house and the location was beautiful! Located right outside of town so you get to miss all of the traffic but can grab great food whenever you’re ready. An excellent stay!

1 mile to the entrance of Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort! Things are a bit more spaced out on Echo Summit as opposed to in town. We are directly on the highway as opposed to in a neighborhood and have meadows and forest on three sides of the house. The American River headwaters are also on our property. We are at 7100ft above sea level (the Tahoe basin is at 6000ft) so we have tons and tons of snow; much more than in the basin.

Our cabin is better for those OK being a bit removed from civilization. For example, there are few food delivery options on the summit. Our house is located *on* Highway 50 which can be very convenient in snowy months. We are 15 minutes to South Lake Tahoe and 25 minutes to Stateline (weather/traffic permitting). Driveway parking only.
