Private Basement Apartment - Spacious & Fully Equipped

This private basement-level apartment is very spacious! The home features 2 full bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, dining area, in-unit washer/dryer, and a private workspace.

Location & Privacy:

This is a garden-level basement apartment located at the rear of the main house

While attached to the main house, it's completely private with its own separate entrance (accessed via the driveway)

Located in Grant Park - a quiet, historic, and family-friendly neighborhood

Outdoor Amenities:

Private outdoor dining area exclusively for guests

Shared access to large fire pit (please be mindful of noise)

Parking:

Street parking only (no off-street parking available as it's reserved for another tenant)

Plenty of on-street parking available in front of the property

Important House Rules (Strictly Enforced):
NO EXCESSIVE NOISE: This is a basement apartment where sound carries. Noise complaints will result in immediate removal without refund

NO UNAUTHORIZED GUESTS: Booking guest must be present entire stay. Additional visitors require host approval

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING INDOORS: No smoking inside the home! This includes pot. If you smoke, we just ask that you be respectful and do so outside. Please dispose of butts in the provided ashtray for your convenience. Any evidence of smoke inside the home results in a $300 FEE.

NO PETS: Unauthorized pets will incur $175 fee

NO PARTIES/EVENTS: $600 fine plus damage costs. Unapproved guests = immediate removal

NO MAIL/PACKAGES DELIVERIES to this property

14+ DAY STAYS: Require additional $55 deep cleaning fee

Additional Notes:

Security on-site - violations may involve authorities
Guests responsible for all damages/repairs
By booking, guests release host from liability for injury, loss, damage or death

THE EXPERIENCE FROM HELL

Originally listed using photos (with buried fine print) to imply rental was entire home (they have since corrected this). A couple weeks back we booked the ‘house’ for a week, but when we arrived (at 9pm after driving 4 hours thru a tornado warning and eager to rest) there was a tenant moving boxes into ‘our rental home’! The new tenant explained that she was a newly arriving long term renter of the house, and that we in fact rented the ‘downstairs unit’ underneath her. Well, the downstairs unit is more like a basement/garage converted to an apartment with 7 foot ceilings (I’m 6’ 3” so one can imagine). It had just been raining so the unit wreaked of dank mold. My wife used the restroom after our long drive and by the time she finished I decided the only viable solution for us was to leave. This place felt like a prison cell built out with IKEA. It was possibly the worst accommodation I have ever walked into and I’ve stayed out in South American jungles and Desert Inns in Zimbabwe. Luckily we were able to find a hotel that would have us at 10pm where we were able to eat and get some rest. In the morning when I woke up and tried dealing with the host they were at first understandable and willing to refund us, minus one day and a cleaning fee (I reluctantly agreed since we were there less than 5 minutes), but once I did the calculation of what they should return (around 80% of the week long booking) they rescinded the offer to refund. I’m still fighting the charge. Avoid!!!!!!!
