Let’s talk about how awesome this place was. Pictures do not do it justice. The wooden inner wall was absolutely gorgeous. The property itself is HUGE! The path to the lake was beautiful AND slightly creepy once the sun goes down. It’s very easy to imagine one of the semi hidden Bigfoot wooden busts sprouting a body and stomping around while foraging for food. Fishing off the pier was decent, early AM was best. Lots of little towns in the area with local restaurants to sample. Not far from Lake Michigan!! The hosts were very informative, friendly, and communicated well. Only 1 negative on the whole trip: black squirrels. I was bitten by a black squirrel as a child and have an irrational dislike for them. But if you are NOT harboring decades long hatred of a specific woodland creature, then no worries!! (I jest, no negative squirrel hatred here. I was bitten but it was my fault for hand feeding one peanuts when I was eight and then trying to put it in my pocket to take it inside the house. I’m just trying to fill up this review since this truly is an awesome place.) And did I mention the local butchers and flea markets/farmers markets? Before I leave town tomorrow, I’m picking up a bushel of apples (for canning), some beefalo (who knew they crossbred cattle and bison? I didn’t!), and some fresh apples cider (the store bought stuff is yuck). And I’m gonna stop at a flea market to look for my holy grail - Thundarr the Barbarian lunch box with thermos! I will return very soon!!!!
