Welcome to one of the most desirable properties on Big Star Lake, a beautiful all-sports lake located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. This unique rental comfortably sleeps 18 and features two distinct homes with 100 feet of private, sugar sand beach.

The Main House has 3 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus an expansive upper living area with 2 sets of twin/full bunks and 2 additional trundle twins. Large lakefront windows provide sensational views of the lake from every angle. The open main floor living area with beautiful reclaimed wood floors has a large fireplace anchored at one end, and a gourmet kitchen at the other, complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, walk-in pantry, and all the food prep and cooking/serving implements you could want.

The adjacent guest house has two more bedrooms (1 queen/2 twins), a full bathroom, living room with gas fireplace and brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances and spectacular views of the lake. The guest house also features a 28' x 12' screened lakefront porch, the perfect spot for your morning coffee or evening cocktail.

Collectively, this 5 bedroom/4 bath property is the perfect setting for family & friends to come together and make amazing memories.

Summertime:
Soak up the sun on 100 ft. of private, sugar-sand beach. The gradual grade into the lake is ideal for families with small children. Secure your boat to our 75' dock with swim ladder, or enjoy one of our watercraft: 2 stand up paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a paddleboat. Relax in a hammock or our luxury resort beach chairs with umbrellas. The attached main house garage features an eclectic bar with ping-pong, darts, game table and ring the bull, and just outside, enjoy corn hole.

Gather around our large, beach fire pit, enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, ATV trails, world-class trout streams, nearby golfing and countless excursions. Watch bald eagles soar above and fish the lake, listen to the call of the loon, soak in all the sights and sounds of lake life. Reserve now for the best that Northern Michigan has to offer with luxurious accommodations and make lifelong memories at Big Star Lake House.

Fall:
In September, things quiet down here and it's a great time to enjoy fall colors, cooler temps and starry nights outdoors around the fire. Enjoy fishing, hiking, and miles of off-road trails. This is the perfect getaway spot with great amenities like our fan favorite heated garage/bar with games. Take a drive to Traverse City for wine tasting, or watch the sun set over the coast of Lake Michigan, both easy day trips.

Winter:
Bring on the snow! The snowmobile trails go on & on and ice fishing is popular. The quiet, calm surroundings are so beautiful. This is a perfect spot to celebrate the holidays with family & friends. Enjoy a peaceful hike around the lake, then cozy up inside with some hot cocoa.

Springtime:
Nature is awakening and the lake is wide open. You may even be lucky enough to witness a spectacular Northern Lights show. Every season is better at the lake!

In peak summer season (June, July, August) the Main House is rented along with the adjacent guest house for one week minimum stays. During the off-season, options include renting homes separately or together for 3 night stay minimum
Peak Season rentals:
. Minimum 7 day reservation increments, Saturday to Saturday
. Check in after 4pm on Saturday, check out by 10am on Saturday

Off-season rentals:

A group of us went up on a side by side trip and couldn't be happier with the stay. Everything was better than expected with an awesome kitchen, plenty of beds, a fun garage space, and a bonus foot of snow while we were there. Laurie was a very kind host and was very responsive to questions. We will surely stay there again.

Magnificent

This was one of the best stays I’ve ever had! Two clean, gorgeous houses with great gathering space for large groups, a huge deck and yard, and the pristine beach and dock. My family was so sad to leave. The host was kind and attentive as well!

The property was perfect for our family reunion. The clean sandy beach provided fun in the water, along with the paddle boards and kayaks provided by the owner. We had a wonderful week with family on Big Star Lake. The houses are very well equipped with everything you need to have a relaxing stay on the lake. There was plenty of space for everyone to find a comfortable spot to relax. Thanks to the beautiful weather, we took full advantage of all of the lakeside amenities, but the indoor options are also amazing if the weather doesn't cooperate. Laurie was an excellent host who made us feel very welcome in her home. We highly recommend choosing Big Star Lake for your family vacation and hope to return ourselves!

Family Vacay

We absolutely LOVED everything about this rental! There were 16 of us between the ages of 8-69. It was great to have the two homes to spread out. Both were amazing! All the extra lake “toys” were a well-used addition. Loved the no wake hours so that we could enjoy the lake on paddle boards and kayaks. A special bonus was the genuinely kind neighbors on both sides.

Awesome place to stay

The houses were well furnished, the beach was great for the kids, the neighbors were friendly and provided us great insight on the depths of the lake as well as how we had some of the best seats for the fireworks right out on the beach.

Wonderful Week on Big Star Lake

My family and I have been long time summer vacation home renters, and the Big Star Lake House is the best we have experienced! The host / owners are wonderful people, and great to communicate with! The home, property, beach and lake provided everything required for a great family vacation!

This property is VERY well equipped. From the kitchen to the beach chairs/toys to the baskets in each bathroom filled with commonly forgotten items, you will have everything you need. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. The one thing I would note is there is only one bedroom on the main floor. The rest of the beds and bedrooms are up a flight of stairs. Both bedrooms in the guest house are upstairs as well. The lake and the beach are beautiful! The fire pit was also fun. We didn't utilize the game room too much but it would be great for a family. We had 5 cars and 3 kayak trailers and there was plenty of parking. The houses are just 10 minutes from the Pere Marquette River so we loved the location. You can't go wrong with this property!The communication with the host is top notch.
Hearing and seeing the Loons on the lake was an added bonus

Return to Big Star Lake

Property is ideal for a family. No need to go anywhere except for food. Beautiful area, quiet and serene. This is the second time we have all stayed here, and will be back.

Great week!

We had a wonderful week at Big Star Lake! The property was clean, fully stocked with so many items you would need throughout your stay, and lots of things were thought of to make it a great experience. We had people from age 4 to into their 70s and everyone had a great time. Even when it rained there was plenty to do! Loved our stay!

Annual Fishing Trip

We are group of friends that have fished together in Baldwin for over 25 years and we’re fortunate to find this great property. The 2 house adjacent to one another and on the lake made for a great stay and we are already planning to come back again next year. While our trip is always in the fall…this place would be absolutely amazing in summertime as well!

Absolutely Fantastic Home

We highly recommend this property. Two homes with an absolutely beautiful view of the lake. Property has awesome dock, kayaks and paddle boards and fire pit on beach. Laurie was very accesible with any questions. Kitchen in main home was great. And living quarters etc top notch. We go to this area annually fo fishing and look forward to staying here again. Enjoyed lake living for a long weekend

Our group of 16 family members stayed here for a wedding and everyone had a fabulous time. The two homes met our needs and more, and we felt like we were living on the lake with all our neighbor friends for five days. Really appreciated the deck and all the outdoor furniture, plus the bag toss, and dock for the borrowed jet skis. Just note that half the beds are in one large room, so these folks need to be OK with sharing a "bedroom". OK for kids, not ideal for adults.

The most beautiful and calm place ever

The houses were clean, had a gorgeous Scandinavian design. There were all necessary things for life, relax and active fun. We have been there 4 days in December. Thanks Laurie for clear support and kind conversation! We would like to come in Summer too.

Extended Family Vacation

Vacationed with 8 adults and 7 children under 10. A very warm and welcoming home with very thoughtful and plentiful amenities. There was room for everyone even on a rainy morning. We enjoyed a beautiful display of fireworks, kayaking, paddle boarding, games on the lawn and in the garage, fishing and relaxing on the beach. The perfect up north lake experience! Thank you Laurie. We look forward to returning to Big Star Lakehouse.

Spacious property

Gorgeous homes next to each other that had all the amenities a person could need/want! Pack a bag & don’t worry about anything else. Big Star Lake House has it all. We had a great long holiday weekend with 12 family members (3 generations). Everyone doing something to keep them occupied if they wanted to be. Gracious hosts sharing some of their toys so you don’t have to lug your own. Fab u lous!

Outstanding property—so many amenities!!

Our family just concluded a week of vacation at this property near Baldwin, Michigan and cannot say enough wonderful things about the amenities provided and the cleanliness of the homes. The hosts were wonderful to work with and happy to help in any way and were easy to reach, if needed. We appreciated having a kitchen with very nice appliances, a comfortable dining and living room area where we spent a lot of time, and comfortable beds for all sixteen people in our group. The beach area was definitely a favorite for all, as the water was so clear and the sand was beautiful. We appreciated getting to use the many comfortable beach chairs and the paddle boats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. The hosts truly thought of everything—helping to make this a week our family will fondly remember for many years to come!
