Our secluded “authentic Alaskan cabin” is nestled in a rustic setting with spectacular mountain views. This private wooded property, boasting an "off the grid" driveway and plenty of wildlife, is walking distance to Otto Lake. Enjoy great fishing, swimming, and other water activities or stop at Black Diamond Resort for tundra golf, horse pulled wagon rides, ATV excursions, or fine dining.

Our quaint town of Healy is the home to several unique dining experiences, an amazing coffee spot, local brewery, and so much more. Down the heart of the community is the Parks Highway, which takes you to an outdoor adventure at Denali National Park less than 15 minutes away.

The authentic Alaskan cabin has an open great room, with sleeper couches, and a built-in dining area. There is a queen blow-up mattress available that is able to sleep two guests in this area. The sitting room, with a day bed and an additional twin mattress, opens to a private patio. Up a steep stairs, which adds to the experience, leads to the loft. The loft has a comfortable full bed, exhilarating views, and additional amenities. The kitchen is full service, with fridge, sink, microwave and stove. Off the main entrance deck, the mountain views are beyond description. The bathroom offers a sink, shower, and a waterless Separett toilet. However, for those truly desiring the full Alaskan experience, there is an “elite” outhouse out back as well. If your previous adventures have left you exhausted, not to worry…we will provide wireless Internet and Netflix.

This felt like a true Alaskan experience! The host was very responsive with any questions we had. Everything was clean with great amenities for such a rustic cabin. We had a toddler with us so the travel crib and a few toys were a great addition. Will happily stay here in the future if we are in the area!

We loved every minute of our stay. The cabin is cozy and unique and the views are amazing! There was plenty of room for my family of four both inside and outside. The property is close to delicious restaurants, gas, and shopping while being secluded enough to give you a real Alaskan experience. Communication was excellent with the host and helpful instructions were provided inside the cabin. We would stay again.

Very lovely comfy, peaceful and secluded cabin. Took time to get use to the separatt toilet. Enjoyed the true unspoiled nature. We saw moose ( mother and Calf). Really had a great time at the cabin.

Cabin was clean and as advertised, nearer to Denali NP. Host Karla was great with prompt response and helpful. We all had a wonderful time and our main activity was spending time in Denali NP. This cabin on top of giving Alaskan cabin experience, also gives real camping feel and experience. This cabin will satisfy who wants to do camping but don’t have the needed equipment or experience. Highly recommend this place.

In our opinion, this cabin is for younger people and families with children only. There is only 1 bigger bed in the loft, which is hard to get to. The steps are very narrow and steep. Also, this is the only comfortable bed. Down below are 2 Futons and one very soft and uncomfortable day bed. The outhouse has no door !!! Also, warm water for the shower is very limited and doesn't even lasts for 2 minutes. If you like to be accused of stealing towels, then this is the place for you.

Charming cabin and comfortable stay for our family of 5. Well stocked place (including some fun games!), beautiful property, and easy access to Denali and area restaurants. The outhouse added to the Alaskan charm (there is an indoor bathroom, too)!

A great, semi-historic cabin with a lot of very interesting history.There were four of us seniors (two related couples; 74-80 yrs old), and we thoroughly enjoyed the cabin, including the idiosyncrasies that come with an authentic Alaskan cabin.The owner was an excellent hostess and communicator.The cabin is well-located close to Mt McKinley (Denali) National Park and the associated retail tourist strip center; and we recommend the Totem Inn restaurant in Healy.All on all, we highly recommend this VRBO listing!

This place is great! Initially the outhouse was daunting, but the cabin had running water and a very functional toilet alternative. It is so close to an amazing number of tours and activities in Healy and Denali was a quick drive down the highway with fantastic views all around. We stayed warm at night with the stove and played some intense games of Scrabble during the rain. The loft offered a great secluded spot for the kids to have their own space as well. Highly recommend!

Delightful time! The cabin ambiance is warm (welcoming), relaxing, unique and clean. I had some concerns about the cabin being too rustic but it was ideal for our vacation with our kids and their cousins. Karla (host) was super responsive. We had one hitch which we tried to self solve and her response was “oh, I wish you would have called me sooner so I could have helped you quicker!” I received responses within minutes of messaging and Karla was proactive in messaging prior to our trip. The kids loved the loft, the games, the books, testing the outdoor bathroom. They watched a movie after a day of hiking the park while we enjoyed tea on the back porch-perfectly peacefully. We brought food with us to avoid 6 kids at a restaurant and we had all of the cooking utensils we needed-tray for roasting vegetables, toaster, square casserole dish for cinnamon rolls, in addition to pots and pans. The sheets and bedding were very clean as were the floors and carpet. We had a truly delightful time as a family and as listed-an authentic Alaska cabin experience! Perfect for an Alaska vacation AND we loved visiting Denali National Park-all of the views and hikes! Thank you Karla and Wade. If we have the privilege to come again-we will rebook with you!

Truly authentic

We LOVED our stay… the cabin for sure had that “Alaska feel” which is what we wanted. Secluded and peaceful. Amazing views. Communication with the host was wonderful.The only couple of issues we had were:Up in the loft is where the largest bed is, my husband is 6’2” and the bed placement was difficult for him as his feet hit the wall.Other issue was that the house wasn’t dark enough at night for us. All windows did have blinds but blackout curtains would have been a game changer. We were able to use sheets to drape over some of the windows which did help a lot.

We really enjoyed the "authentic Alaskan cabin experience." The location to Denali National Park and Healy was perfect. The views from the back deck were incredible. That is where we spent most of our time, even with a little rain (partially covered). The cabin was appointed.

Cozy cottage

We love this unique Alaskan cabin in the woods! With unique outbuildings this property was delightful just minutes away from local amenities as well as Denali and its many adventures!! Our family loved the outdoor space and were even surprised by a momma moose and her two calves!!! It was fantastic!!

Beautiful and peaceful property/area. I enjoyed the outdoor toilet. This home was clean and had enough ammeneties. Most of our time was outside the home and this was great to come back to. It is a cabin!

Convenient & Peaceful

Such a cute, quirky little cabin! It was a perfect location for our visit to Otto Lake and Denali National Park. The grandkids enjoyed the loft sleeping area and exploring around the cabin grounds. The adults enjoyed the peaceful mornings and evenings on the porch. Beautiful view. Caught a moose sighting down the road.

Peaceful Home Away from the Bustle of Denali

We didn't realize that we had stumbled onto a gem when we booked this cabin! We were so happy to feel like we had the place all to ourselves, surrounded by nature and scenery. The hosts were great at communicating from start to finish. We found the home perfect for all of our needs and was large enough to fit our large group. We especially appreciated the pack and play provided by the host. The best part of the cabin was the large deck where we spent hours enjoying the long days of summer in Alaska.

Wade has traveled the world and lived in many wonderful places. He graduated from London Central and lived most of his life in California. Karla is originally from ND. She lived in Healy, AK for over 22 years, along with time in St. Michael, AK. We have 9 grandchildren with one on the way! Our favorite part about hosting is we get to share our special and unique cabin with people from all over the world. We know our cabin is a great place for family and friends to hang out - we enjoy doing this for our guests.

Karla lived in Healy for over 22 years. She raised her three kids here of which two remained. Wanting to be back for the summers, we located the most wonderful property to purchase. It's a really wonderful spot with 8 acres of woods and wildlife. It's quiet, beautiful and nicely tucked away from the bustle of the Park,

Our property has a beautiful history. It was homesteaded years ago and has been transformed into an amazing cabin our guests really enjoy staying at. I share a bit of the history during your stay. Many people are grateful I share the history and the man that made it all happen. Also, our property has a patio along with a deck that has spectacular views as well as a covered deck for when it's raining.
