A new bar has been set for cabin/cottage rentals and the bar has been set HIGH! My wife, 2 kids (7 and almost 3) stayed in Willow Cottage (and please, call it a cottage - "cabin" does not do it justice!) for 8 nights at the end of April. From the moment we entered the front door, we couldn't get over details, furnishings, layout, grounds, etc., etc. My 7-year old daughter felt as though she were a princess in her very own castle and my almost 3-year old son loved running around the grounds. During the day, the back patio was the perfect place to sit and relax with a book while the kids played in the sandbox and backyard. Even with temps in the 80s (warm for our Ohio blood) we were kept cool by the roof, fan, and stone patio. And in the evening, we would light a fire and enjoy a glass of wine (just the adults). With the amount of activities to do onsite, we never felt the need to "get out and do something." We could wander up the hill for a hike, play by the river, fish, or play games in the huge fields. We cooked great breakfasts during the day, grilled out for dinner, and made plenty of s'mores. The dark night skies (NO light from any town) were aglow by thousands of stars and since I brought my telescope, we were able to get some great views of Jupiter and the moon. The location is fantastic since it's only about 15-20 minutes to Wayensville and other locations. Waynesville has some nice shops, art galleries, and restaurants (try Chef's Table - great food). We made two trips up to the Pisgah Inn (once for breakfast and once for lunch) along the Blue Ridge Parkway (only about 25 minutes away). The BRP is close and the drive is great. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this location. One of the best vacations we had in a long time. Thanks!
