I have to reiterate what others have said. Location is absolutely unprecendented on my favorite beach in all of New England. My Mother-in-Law owned a home on this beach for years and it was such a priviledge to be back.
Number of bedrooms/bathrooms are amble. Love having a washer/dryer.
Property Management
We received prompt responses to all of our inquiries but did have a couple of miscommunications.
No reminder of balance payment due by notice; have been renting vacation properties for many years, first time this has happended, then scolding for not hitting the date.
Miscommuncation regarding location of key. Phoned, was put on hold then told apologetically I have so many properties I get confused.
Cleanliness of Property
The owner should reconsider the cleaning staff. Kitchen sink had food left in the sink strainer (ick), cob webs in many of the corners, none of the glass doors had been cleaned (which make up the whole back of the house and view of the ocean). Floors and Bathrooms were clean. Living room furniture had sand all of over it. Gave the maid feedback as we were leaving the property and she apologized profusely and would pay more attention to it.
Condition of Property
Once inside we were shocked by the condition of the property especially as compared with the outside, nevermind the price. Kitchen and bathrooms are original/never been updated from what I can tell (likely late eighties vintage) and not in good repair though they were mostly functional. Cabinets missing handles, drawers not easily opened, kitchen sink is absolutely disgusting. This is an easy fix and unclear why the owner doesn't paint the kitchen cabinets, replace the kitchen sink and cabinet hardware. Some of the glass doors that open onto the deck wouldn't open, had no screens and leaked during heavy rains. We had a flood in the dining room one day. Carpets throughout are gross, the one in the downstairs bedroom smelled whenever the humidity went up. Walls had some holes and are in need of fresh paint. What really amazed me was the amount of useless kitsch throughout the house. I systematically went around clearing as many surfaces as I could. Strongly recommend the owner declutter (throw away) most of this stuff, it's unnecessary. There's a very large built-in bar unit (knotty pine) that takes up one whole wall of the living room. It should be torn down and thrown in the dump
Love the location, not the condition of the property.
